REVIEW - Playmaker - L.P. Dover

TITLE -  Playmaker
AUTHOR - L.P. Dover

Blurb:

He knows every play in the book. But she’s calling the shots.

I’m Maddox Ledger, all-star winger and the reason the Charlotte Strikers killed it in the playoffs. Yeah, the tabloids like to call me arrogant. A real hothead. All I see is a guy who plays to win. Wreaking havoc on the ice, breaking a few hearts—that’s all just part of the game. And I’m sure as hell not sitting on the bench.

When my teammate asks me to be in his wedding party, I can’t refuse—but that’s the only way you’ll see me walk down the aisle. Commitment is for suckers. Lucky for me, the bridesmaid I’m paired with is the definition of eye candy. Lacey Easton is totally irresistible . . . and weirdly familiar. A glimpse of bare shoulder takes me back to a steamy Vegas night I can’t forget. One I’m eager to repeat.

Suddenly our one-night stand is turning into the sequel . . . and so much more. Still, Lacey’s keeping secrets. She doesn’t trust me. And maybe I deserve it. But there’s no chance I’m letting her get away—or letting another guy take what is mine. This time, I’m playing for keeps.

Johnaka's Review:

“Second chance, 5 stars”

Once upon a time a man fell madly deeply in love with a woman only for her to up and leave. Ever since then Maddox has been hell bent on making the woman jealous in hopes of bringing her back. He tried finding her and failed until now. Now she’s right under his nose and he has a plan. Get back his woman, only its not as easy as that. Her brother hates him and he’s pretty sure another has eyes on her, but it won’t stop him. Once Maddox sets his sights on something there is no stopping him.
Lacey has been in love before but ditched the guy before he could ditch her. She knows how guys operate thanks to her brother. But maybe things are not what she thinks they are. Her life is crazy hectic and about to become even more crazy when Maddox slams back in. Will she let him in again or will fear paralyze her?
The love these two have for each other is undeniable from the get go. Its just a matter of taking the last step. You have people who will support them and others who will try and do everything to keep them apart. The odds were clearly stacked against them but Maddox didn’t care. In Playmaker you have love, hockey, and life. Its more of a story about getting over obstacles than one where they break up for something stupid only to get back together and I enjoyed that about Playmaker. You don’t need to read any of the other Breakaway Novels but I do recommend it and I cannot wait to see who else Dover writes about.
