Blog Tour & Review - Scoring the Billionaire - Max Monroe

TITLE - Scoring the Billionaire
AUTHOR - Max Monroe

Blurb:

Two love-matches made.
One to go.

Even though two of his best friends have settled down, Wes Lancaster is determined not to get sucked into some siren’s web. As owner of the professional football team the New York Mavericks and wildly successful BAD restaurant, his lifestyle is full as it is.

Well, it was, until Winnie Winslow, the new, sexy, stiletto-wearing Team Physician trash-talks him in the locker room without batting an eye.

Now he can’t stop himself from wanting her.

The only girl in her parents’ brood of five, she’s as outspoken as she is beautiful and the kind of woman who holds her own—and then some.

Always competitive at heart, if he’s going all in for love...
Wes sure as hell wants a Win-Win.

Prepare to get a little dirty because this one might go into overtime.
Game. On.

Disclaimer:

Max and Monroe, under penalty of fictional perjury, swear that actually changing the rhythm of your heartbeat was not their intention, but rather, a side effect of swoony characters and an overzealous dedication to tears. No, no. The Dedication of the book is actually to tears.
Proceed with caution.
Except, be cautious quickly. Thanks.

Tiny Tease:

“Leave it,” I whispered as her phone rang from her tiny purse that lay discarded on the floor, groaning and pushing her deeper into the wall before sucking the peak of her nipple into my mouth.
We were in the trenches of my favorite two-person activity, and I had absolutely no desire to add a third—especially knowing whoever was on the other end of her phone wasn’t a model for Victoria’s Secret.

Relax. I’m mostly joking.

I’d been working diligently at the removal of each and every piece of her clothing for the last five or so minutes, but we were so desperate to keep our mouths on one another, the process had been slow going and she’d yet to have the chance to reciprocate.
I couldn’t help it, though, and I didn’t mind that I still wore my clothes. Her skin was like a flavor, one I swore had been specifically designed for me by Baskin Robbins, and her nipples were like the cherries on top. Deep red from my attention and perfectly delicious.
But the bleating of her phone threatened to pop my flawless pleasure bubble.

And I was in no way ready to stop.

Our Review:

Max Monroe has done it again! Another wonderfully written novel! Absolutely loved this book as much as I have loved the others in the series. Scoring the Billionaire is much like the other novels with humor and heat, but this one also adds a hint of seriousness that I did not feel as deeply as the others. I think this sets this book specifically a part from the others and gives it an added layer and a sense of identity.

The plot in this book is similar to the others when you look at the bones. Billionaire falls for woman, woman falls for billionaire, and something is going to happen to affect their relationship. There is so much more to this book than just that. There is the absentee father, demons hiding in the shadows, and a special child who does not need to be put through any more stress. These is so much more than readers can see on the surface with this book. Max Monroe outdid themselves.

The characters were wonderfully developed. We have met both of these characters in the other books and even read a little bit from their point of view in the last novella.  They then get introduced to the big screen and flourished under the lights. Wes is a spectacular character. While he is so calm and cool on the outside towards others, we get to see another side of him through his thoughts and the way he acts towards Winnie. Winnie is a real ballbuster. I absolutely adore her. If I had a spirit animal I would want it to be Winnie. She has such a fire to her that is magnetic. The things she is willing to do for her daughter are amazing. I hope I am half the mother she is one day.  The interactions between all of the characters in this book were strategically done and I have to say I am extremely happy about it.

The writing style of Max Monroe is fantastic. They are a duo who bring comedy wherever they go. I feel that they say the things we all wish we could say out loud. It is almost as if I am reading an alternate universe of things I would say myself. With that being said, Scoring the Billionaire did have some parts of the story that I felt were a lull. It was not necessarily a bad thing, I just felt a little more could’ve been added to really make these sections part of the story rather than feeling disconnected.

The heat in this book is as hot as all the others, if not hotter. Wes is hiding a very naughty boy under his calm and cool demeanor. I did not expect Winnie to be such a wild cat either.  These two together are like a combustion of chemicals! If you want a book with heat, this whole series will do!

Overall, this is a wonderful book. It is bittersweet to know that this series is coming to an end but exciting to find out where all these wonderful characters land. If you read the acknowledgements and notes in the back you know that they have also said that these characters will not be forever forgotten and never to be seen or heard from again! Yay! LOVE this author and this book.

REVIEW - Garrett by Karla Sorensen

Garrett
Karla Sorensen

Synopsis

The one thing Garrett Calder and Aurora Anderson have in common is that they absolutely hate each other.

Garrett has the job that Aurora has worked for and wanted for years and it was handed to him on a silver platter, just like everything else in his life. The fact that he manages everything with the most annoyingly handsome smile on his equally annoying, handsome face is just icing on the freaking cake.

Aurora is not only the most beautiful, but the smartest, most infuriating woman Garrett has ever had the misfortune of meeting. Her sharp tongue and inability to be charmed by him makes her somehow more maddening, and she’s never let him get away with a single thing, not for the eight years they’ve worked together.

Garrett and Aurora are pushed into a situation neither of them want to be in— forced to work together for twelve months or risk losing everything. Twelve months where they can’t kill each other. Twelve long months, and only one of them will be left standing at the end. And in the process of surviving it—and each other—they’ll discover that there’s a very fine line between love and hate.

Our Review

If you’ve ever read any of my reviews you would know I love Karla’s stories. Her characters are always their own person, and if you read Dylan (which you do not need to read before Garrett, but I totally recommend) you would know that Garrett is the light hearted fun friend. Garrett makes everyone smile, he’s just that guy. But in this book you see a different side of him and really find out how his mind operates.

In Garrett you find out that he works a job he’s not completely comfortable in. He wants to deserve to be there. Then there are other feelings surrounding him that makes everything click into place. Of course he has in crew, but really are they who he needs at the end of the day or is it someone else?

Then there is Aurora or Rory. She is everything Garrett wants to be business wise. Shes smart, in control, and owns it. Only thing is is business is the only area in Rory’s life that she is happy with. Shes slightly cold and shut off, a product of her childhood. Rory doesnt understand emotions and needless to say Garrett makes her feel all sorts of things.

Put the two together and they are explosive, be it good or be it bad. One thing is for sure though they need each other. One will teach one to smile while one will teach the other to be serious. All is far in love and war...only question is will they make love or go to war against each other?
When reading Garrett you will laugh and most likely cry, at the very least tear up. You will wish one of the characters were real so you could throat punch them for being an idiot. And last but not least wish that the these guys were your friends in real life. Here are a few quotes that I loved from the story;

“I’d lost my mind. It was the only plausible explanation. Because nothing, nothing in my life had ever felt as good as Rory in my arms .”
“If I’d felt a massive crush on her when I met her, and wanted to cement her to me after our first kiss, then our night together followed by the most perfect first date I’d ever experienced in my life had shoved me off the first step of falling for her.”
“But instead of hiding behind the perfect, mind-numbing happiness of what I’d felt with her , I needed to figure out what the hell I wanted to do with my life, and where I saw her in it.”

We love this couple and the people that flow into them like literary tributaries more than you can imagine.

We think you'll love them like we do, but if you don't...don't tell us. ;) HAHA. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss.

Release Blitz - Garrett by Karla Sorensen

Title: Garrett
Series: Bachelors of the Ridge #2
Author: Karla Sorensen
Release Date: Oct 21, 2016
The one thing Garrett Calder and Aurora Anderson have in common is that they absolutely hate each other.
Garrett has the job that Aurora has worked for and wanted for years and it was handed to him on a silver platter, just like everything else in his life. The fact that he manages everything with the most annoyingly handsome smile on his equally annoying, handsome face is just icing on the freaking cake.

Twelve long months, and only one of them will be left standing at the end. And in the process of surviving it—and each other—they’ll discover that there’s a very fine line between love and hate.
Damn him, ooooooh, damn him and that highly amused grin that he gave me in answer. That’s what made it so much worse. Garrett Calder was handsome. He was tall and muscled with broad shoulders that looked (I could only admit this in my head, because I’d likely choke on the words if they came out of my mouth) incredible in a suit. Oh, I’d have liked it so much better if he was a hunchback with two teeth and pockmarks covering the left side of his body.
You know, have the outside match the inside.
“But my old man does?”
With brisk movements, I straightened my blue cotton blouse and sniffed. “Yes.”
Garrett leaned up against the door behind him, clearly not planning on going anywhere. Ass.
“How come?”
“You realize that I don’t have to answer you, right? It’s my prerogative who gets to call me a nickname and who doesn’t.”
When he snorted, I risked a look at him under my lashes. Still smiling that stupid smile. It was one of the non-professional things that I envied about him. The ease with which he smiled and joked, making the people around him happy in turn. The people who I reported to and the people who worked under me all respected me and liked me. But we weren’t exactly friends. We didn’t swap jokes or secrets.
But I’d take respect any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. So I straightened and faced him, giving him the full weight of my annoyed expression. “What?”
“Nothing.” He shook his head, completely amused by my snippy response.
“You are so aggravating.”
“And you are so defensive, Rory.”
I narrowed my eyes and he smothered a laugh. “I’m not defensive. I’m simply explaining to you that it’s my right to recognize that certain people are deserving of informalities over others.”
He clutched a hand to his heart. “So many big words. Stop.”
When I lifted an eyebrow, he gave me a mildly apologetic look. “Okay, fine. I’ll stick to Aurora.”
“Thank you,” I conceded. “Can I leave now? This kind of proximity to you gives me hives.”

Dylan (#1) – Released June 2016
On sale for $0.99 through Oct 22
Dylan Steadman has never seen his stubbornness as a bad thing. It's always been easy for him to make up his mind and stick with it. It's why he works a lot, why he doesn't need to make time for a girlfriend, and why he recently decided to move across the country for a new job. His brothers and sister and happily settled, and now that all eyes have turned on him, he needs a change. He does not need a relationships, and moving to Colorado lets him breathe. What he didn't see coming was Kat, the much-too-young-for-him employee at his new restaurant.

Kat Perry doesn't have a family. She doesn't even really have friends, but that's by her choice. Her new manager, Dylan, has all the things that she should avoid: the muscles, the eyes, the smile, and the kind of white-knight syndrome that she doesn't know what the frick to do with. Dylan should be easy enough to disregard since she's managed to hold people at arm's length her whole life, especially when a relationship is the very last thing she wants

But she can't ignore him, not when he befriends her, and definitely not when they tap into combustible chemistry that threatens to burn down everything around them. So instead of fighting it, they come to an agreement- just friends with a bunch of benefits on the side. Easy, right? Not exactly.

Especially when the heart gets involved.

**Dylan is a 70k romantic comedy with a mild/medium heat level. It is a spin-off of the Three Little Words series and can be read as a standalone.**
Well, let’s see ... I’m a wife and a mother. I’m a writer who wants to make people smile when they read my words. I own a dog that sheds roughly eighteen pounds of hair every day. I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob. If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies. I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I'll love you forever.

Chapter One

Present Day
Detective Callum Palmer dragged his fingers through his thick hair. He had a murder to solve. A pile of skeletons had been found in an old mine shaft, and he’d been assigned the case. He and his new partner, who had yet to show up. Irritated, he paced the precinct floor.
“Calm down, Palmer,” one of the other detectives said, “You’re driving me nuts.”
“Tough shit,” Callum shot back at him.
A small woman dressed in black entered the room and his line of vision. A real looker. Callum wondered who she was and what she was doing there. Her posture and dress gave an image of a professional. Not the type of victim he usually dealt with.
“Detective Callum Palmer?” she said.
“Yes?” Oh oh. Callum hoped the thought that just popped into his head proved wrong.
She held out a hand so delicate, he feared he’d break those tiny bones if he grasped it. “My name is Detective Olivia Hansen. I’m your new partner.”
Fuck. They sent me a female partner? Great. Fucking great. Resigned, he took her hand. “All right, Hansen. You’re just in time. Come with me. A murder has been called in and we’ve been given the job of investigating it.”
“Fine,” she said. “Nothing I like better than to keep busy.”
Turning away, Callum rolled his eyes, and led the way to his car.

Western Romance has always been my first love but I also write hot contemporary romance under my pen name A.L. Simpson.
In my Westerns I love to write about knock ‘em down - drag ‘em out fights, outlaws, bank robbery, stage hold-ups and romance.
In my Contemporary’s I write f/m, m/m and m/m/f. I usually draw on experiences for these and they usually cause more than a few tears for the readers.
When I am not writing I enjoy walking our dogs – 2 elderly Jack Russell Terriers -  with my husband and travelling both overseas and in Australia.

Kylie Price is a shy and reserved person when around people she doesn't know. But, when she does know you, she is a bag of laughs sarcasm, fun and very witty. She has a natural ability to be cheeky in less than a breath. Those friends and family close to her enjoy the sudden burst of energy and laughter that she brings out in others. This is carried over into her novels. From a broken home, growing up was hard and often she felt alone and isolated. She used her imagination to push past that feeling and started creating new worlds from the age of ten. She is dyslexic, but don't let that put you off her books. She has formed a strong team and friendship with her writing and her followers help her to no end. She has pushed past her fears, anxiety and feeling of abandonment to bring herself to full light and follow her dreams of being a writer, no matter how imperfect her spelling is. One of her favourite quotes, "Most days I get a text message from Auto Correct saying, 'What the hell is wrong with you woman. I have no idea what you're on about. Stop that.' lol." This is truly her. She admits to many faults and flaws, but she moves forward them all and takes it on the chin. She strives everyday to improve as a writer, friend, mother, etc. Though I think she is fabulous how she is, she reassures me, "There is always room for improvement no matter how great a person thinks they are." So, from me, I say take the chance on this amazing writer's books and follow her, friend her and enjoy the ride with us all. You won't be disappointed. Margaret Tanner is an award winning, Australian author, who writes Historical Romance and Western Romance. She loves delving into the pages of history as she carries out research for her historical romance novels, and prides herself on being historically correct. No book is too old or tattered for her to trawl through, no museum too dusty. Many of her novels have been inspired by true events, with one being written around the hardships and triumphs of her pioneering ancestors in frontier Australia.
She has found from writing Western Historicals, that frontier Australia and frontier America, had many similarities, isolated communities, a large single male population and a lack of marriageable women.
Margaret is married and has three grown up sons, and two gorgeous little granddaughters. Outside of her family and friends, writing is her passion.
