Release Blitz & Reviews - Jackal's Pride - Michelle Gross

Title: Jackal's Pride
Series: Seven Deadly Series: Book Two
Author: Michelle Gross
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: December 31, 2018

Despite a near catastrophe, there’s time for a fateful encounter.

Maureen Reaper, eldest daughter of the revered Grim Reaper, avoided an apocalyptic vortex which threatened humanity, but she still has time for bets. She can’t help it thanks to her curse—the sin of pride. Her latest one brings her face-to-face with an entity no one has seen or heard from for thousands of years.

Jackal, an entity created by the Devil himself, has never known the comprehension of emotions until the day a witch cursed him to feel for everything he has killed. Unable to bear the new burden of a heavy heart, he sleeps with no intention of ever waking until someone finds him.

There’s nothing beautiful in their meeting. Enemies by birth, only more so when Maureen straps a collar around his neck all for a bet. She awakens a beast whose every first—every new glare, new craving, and touch has landed upon her.

Then she learns that the one she sought out in a game controlled by pride could be the very one that helps turn the tide back in the Reapers’ favor.

But that’s the thing…

Pride is a bitch, and Maureen is her.

Beckie Bookworm - “This one gets a sure hell yeah from my camp”

Goodreads Review - “I fell into the story and didn’t want to come up. I hope, I pray, that Gross gives us book three soon because I need more NOW.”

BookedMercy - “I was genuinely blow away by this book. It’s hard to find a good paranormal book so I was pleasantly surprised when reading this gem.”

Johnaka's Review:

“Setting pride aside, 5 stars”

Maureen’s sin is pride and it sometimes gets the best of her. When she took on a bet, she knew she would win. What she didn’t know is that finding Jackal would set off a chain of events. Is she in over her head? Will she submit to Jackal or will her pride keep her from doing so?

Jackal has been asleep and all he wants to do is go back to sleep. But there is something about Maureen that calls to him. Once he figures it out its game over. Jackal doesn’t know how to lose and always gets what he wants. Will he get Maureen?

I feel like I have waited forever for Jackal’s Pride! I loved the story not just the love aspect between our couple but also the scenes with Maureen and her family. I fell into the story and didn’t want to come up. I hope, I pray, that Gross gives us book three soon because I need more NOW.

Jennifer's Review:

GIVE ME MORE! Like NOW! Jackal’s Pride is just amazing as book one in this series. The imagination and ingenuity is amazingly clever. This author has not only created a story, but they created a whole world that I am dying to know more about. Not only was this story amazing, but she set it up perfectly for the next story. If you like fantasy and romance, then you better get you this book now. You will regret it if you wait any longer.

The plot of this story is astonishing. There is the main plot that started in book one, but this story also has its own plot. This follows one of the reaper siblings who have been cursed. This specific character has been cursed with the sin of pride. The way the author is able to weave a tale that spans books, yet also tell us the story of each individual is inspiring.

Maureen is cursed. She is so prideful that it was actually painful to read from her point of view at times. I really wanted to shake her and maybe smack her around a bit. It was perfect though. Her character really encompassed her sin, yet also showed that you are not only one thing. Then you have Jackal. He also proved that you create your own destiny. He is a special character with which I really enjoyed.

Do you like heat? If you do, then this book is for you. I mean you have two beings of another world. If that doesn’t scream HOT then I do not know what does. Add in the fact that the first meeting between these two is not as smooth as one would hope, and you have the recipe for an amazing chemistry.

The writing style of this book is great. The pace is steady. The story is told from a dual point of view. We get to meet and see other characters. What I think I loved most about this story is that there are many twists and turns. Most that I didn’t even see coming. That is an accomplishment on its own.

Overall, I freaking floved this book. Seriously, this book is amazing. I highly suggest this book to others who enjoy a good fantasy/paranormal novel. This series will suck you in and leave you begging for more. I am in awe of this series and cannot wait for the next one.

Michelle is from a small town in Eastern Kentucky where opossums try to blend in with the cats on the porch and bears are likely to chase your pets—this is very true, it happened with her sister’s dog. Despite the extra needed protection for your pets, she loves the mountains she calls home. She has a man and twin girls who are the light of her life and the reason she’s slightly crazy.
As a kid, she was that cousin, that friend, that sister and daughter, the talker who could spin a tale and make-believe into any little thing so it was no surprise when she found love in reading, and figured all these characters inside her head needed an outlet. They wanted to be heard, so she wrote.
The voices keep growing faster than she gets the time to write.
The stories are never going to end. That’s perfectly okay, though. We never want to stop an adventure.

Bad boys? They run
right over good girls like Georgina Keller.

confidence-shattering breakup, she’s determined not to let anyone at her new
workplace push her around—least of all the brooding creative director, a “bad
boy of publishing” who’s made it clear she’s enemy #1.

the top of a leading New York magazine, but the reputation that made him is
suddenly threatening to end his career.

Georgina can
help Modern Man shed its bad reputation, but in order to do
that, she’ll have to start at the top—and no amount of rakish charm or

Excerpt

At the stadium’s
concession stand, I took a tall stool, putting Georgina and I at eye level
since she stood. “So, why didn’t you kiss François?” I asked. “Bad breath?”
She gasped
into her hand. “My breath is fine.”
“I meant
his. I’m sure yours is pure relish on a hotdog.”
She made a
face. “Gross.”
“I happen
to love relish,” I said. “But does François?”
Each time I
said François with flourish, she
flinched. I didn’t care. Something about him bugged me—I just couldn’t put my
finger on it.
“We didn’t
kiss because you interrupted us,” she pointed out.
“So? If I
were in his position, and we both wanted that kiss, I wouldn’t let anyone stop
me.”
Frank and I are clicking,” she said,
scowling. “There was even mention of spending time at his summerhouse.”
“Hamptons?”
She coughed
into her fist. “Boca Raton.”
The idea of
Georgina spending a summer with him in Boca Raton was tragic enough that I
almost smiled. I got the sense she was playing up the date. If it was so great,
why wasn’t she sitting here with him? And why was I more relieved than smug
about that? “Meanwhile, Justin and I will be clamming in Montauk.”
“You two
should really just make it official and announce your love to the world.”
“But then I
wouldn’t get to flirt with pretty girls.”
“For
someone who pretends to have as much game as you,” she said, “I still haven’t
seen you successfully flirt with any
girls since I’ve known you.”
I smirked.
“How do you know I’m not flirting with you right now?”

OUR REVIEW:

“Is he really a bad boy? 5 stars”

Georgina is ready for some change. Her ex made her feel less than and she doesn’t ever want to go down that road again. If only there was a way to make her work persona George come through outside the office. When she’s at work she’s a boss who doesn’t let anyone walk all over her. Will she change who she is, or will someone accept her how she is?

Sebastian is not the playboy everyone thinks he is. Ever since his mother died, he hasn’t been the same. Sebastian needs a change; the question is what kind of change will that be? When Georgina works her way into his life, he can’t help but want her. Will he be able to convince her he wants her for the right reasons or will misunderstandings and lack of communication come between them?

I really enjoyed the push and pull between these two. It was pretty much up in the air until the end on if these two would make it together. They both had a lot of growing to do before they could grow together. I loved Georgina’s gummy bear obsession and big heart. I loved how Sebastian learned to embrace who he was. All around it was a solid start for Hawkins for the new year.

Our Review:

“Finding something more, 4 stars”

Elizabeth is out to prove to her father that she deserves the family company over her brother. She will do anything and everything in order to get the title of CEO. But what happens when she finds so much more than a failing business? Will Elizabeth be able to handle the changes coming her way?

Colin just wants his family to see him how he is now and not as the kid who ran when he was younger. When a business opportunity arises, he jumps at the chance to show them who he is now. What he didn’t expect was to be captivated by Elizabeth. Will he be able to capture more than just his families respect?

I really enjoyed how these two progressed from strangers to business partners, to friends, then to lovers. Something to Prove is my first book by Schroeder and I was pleasantly surprised. I hurt for Elizabeth and wanted more for her and I’m glad that Colin could show her her worth. Colin has a huge heart. If you want a good story with a little Irish in it look no further.

Release Blitz & Review - Nothing Personal - Karina Halle

It's just business, nothing personal.
Until you have to work with your ex.
Nothing Personal, an all-new standalone romantic comedy by New York Times Bestselling author Karina Halle is live!

Nothing Personal AMAZON.jpg

Nova Lane is having the worst week possible. Her latest relationship ended while on her much-needed vacation, then upon her first day back at work, she learns that her beloved boss has quit – and despite having worked so hard for it, she's not being considered for his position.
Who is being considered for the position is none other than Kessler Rocha. Her ex-coworker and ex-lover, Kessler’s the man who broke her heart five years earlier and the reason she moved thousands of miles away, switched jobs, and created numerous voodoo dolls in Kessler’s (very burly, very handsome) liking.
Yup. Worst week ever.
New in town and on her turf, Kessler promises he’s not the same man he was – and considering he’s now a single father to a precocious toddler, he’s telling the truth.
But he’s still an arrogant, devilish and dangerously intelligent man who’s taking over the position Nova feels she deserves. The fact that he’s gotten even more sexy over the years doesn’t help either.
Now Nova and Kessler have the choice to let bygones be bygones, or fight with each other every chance they get, with unresolved sexual tension only adding fuel to the flames, creating a fire that might just burn down the whole office.
In the corporate world they say it’s just business, nothing personal.
Nova and Kessler are about to show just how personal things can get.

OUR REVIEW:

“Oh, its all personal, 5 stars”

Nova and Kessler have a past. A messy one that left them both a little off kilter. They both made mistakes where the other was concerned in the past. The question is will they do it again?

Nova was in love with Kessler before and he had no idea. Kessler always felt like Nova kept him at arm’s length because of the arrangement they had. But the past is the past and now they are starting over. They are older and wiser, but does that mean they will make it?

I genuinely liked these two and wanted them together. Kessler’s life was full of change right now. Nova needs to let go and embrace the unknown. I loved Kessler’s little boy. Add in the other little random scenes in Nothing Personal that will make you laugh, and the story is totally worth a one-click.

Release Blitz & Review - Conor - A. Zavarelli

Title: Conor (Boston Undercover)
Author: A. Zavarelli
Genre: Dark Romance
Release Date: December 27, 2018

Ivy

When I stumbled into a mafia run club seeking a job, I was looking for protection. Little did I know I’d need protection from him.

Conor O’ Callahan was exactly the kind of danger I was trying to avoid. He was gorgeous as sin with an accent hotter than Hades, but that’s where the charm ended.

He was also cynical, cold, and downright cranky.

So, you could imagine my surprise when he gave me a proposition. Marry him or lose my life.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I’ve learned to do what’s necessary to survive in this world, and that includes marrying a mobster. Regardless of what he might say, it’s only temporary.

It’s not like I’m going to sleep with him. Or fall for him.

Because that would be stupid, right?

"It held me in its clutches with the hotness, the sweetness, and the action-packed ride I never wanted to end!!"- Erika, Bookhaven Bookblog

"I love me some Conor. He is dreamy af. Lethal and sweet, my ultimate book boyfriend!"- Amber, Leave Me Alone I'm Reading

"I read this in one sitting, devoured it, inhaled it, loved it!! Not once did I put it down."- Kitty Kat's Crazy About Books

"He is the ultimate alpha perfection!" - Sansa Reads

"JUST GRAB THIS BOOK ASAP and READ IT."- Gone With the Romance

Mobster Romance. Conor is a book part of a series called Boston Underground. This is the sixth book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. While it might refer to things that happened in the previous books, it did not affect my enjoyment of the book. This book has everything you could want in a mobster novel. There is action, gore, romance, and a sexy alpha.

The plot of this book intrigued me. This story is about two characters who are leading separate lives. When an event occurs that requires them to cross paths, insanity ensues. I really liked the way the author wrote this plot. While the characters were reluctant to trust, they also had some sweet moments.

Ivy is a unique character. She was dealt a raw deal. We don’t know what it is right away, but we can see her desperation and strength. She is a truly inspiring character. Then you have Conor. He has also had a less than spectacular life. He has his own demons he is fighting. I think I liked his character the most.

The heat between these two is there from the very beginning. Add in that situation they find themselves in and it was destined to get hotter and hotter. These two characters can steam up the pages with a single look at one another. The heat was done very well.

I liked the writing style in this story. This book is told from dual point of view. There is the use of flashbacks in the story as well. I liked the pace of the book. I really enjoyed the other characters as well. What I think I liked most about this story is that the author doesn’t shy away from the darker part of the mobster world.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. I liked the characters, heat, and plot. I cannot wait to go back and read the other books in this series. I would recommend this book to others, but also caution that there are some serious and gruesome scenes in this book. If you don’t like that, then this might not be the book for you.

A. Zavarelli is a book junkie, cat lover, and traveler when plagued by intense cases of wanderlust. She likes all things chocolate, books that come with warnings, and putting her characters through hell.

Her tales have been known to flirt with darkness and sometimes court it unabashedly altogether. Revenge themes and tortured souls are her favorites to write and this gives her an excuse to watch bizarre and twisted documentaries in her spare time.

She is slightly obsessed with Theo James and funny animal memes. If you don’t mind these things, you should add her on facebook.
