Release + Review - The Rest of Me - Ashley Munoz

The Rest of Me by Ashley Munoz is LIVE! #OneClick today!!

Death never simply settles for the life it claims.
It’s greedy.
It stole all of our lives that night and while it put my husband in the ground, it left my four children and me behind.
After an ugly year of grief, something had to change.
My sister suggested open spaces, big skies and fresh air in the heart of Wyoming.
We settled into our shared estate the best we could, until I met my new neighbor.
Arrogant, bossy and rude; Reid was easily the worst person I’d ever met. I'd decided to write him off entirely until I realized he was the only local horse instructor.
I’d heard that if I could get my kids onto a horse, they’d start to heal.
Desperation had me creating an alliance with him.
Envy had me craving the connection he had with them.
Distracted by the newness of our situation, I missed how close his demons danced to my ghosts. While I was ignorantly letting him take my heart, it was too late to realize . . .
He’d already stolen it once before.

Johnaka's Review
“Starting over, 5 stars”
To say Layla is crushed when her husband dies would be an understatement. She’s barely been getting by and doing the bare minimum when it comes to her kids. She knows she needs to get it together and now is the time to pull it together. Layla and her kids move to a new town where no one knows them or their past hurts. She has no interest in moving on romantically, until she meets her neighbor.
Reid didn’t plan on coming back to his hometown, but sometimes you just have to go to where people know you and heal yourself. He doesn’t know what to think about his sister no longer owning the house next door and it being occupied by a woman and her four kids. And he definitely has no plans on courting that single mother…until he does. But will his past come between him and his future?
My heart hurt for both Layla and Reid. I couldn’t imagine going through what they did. Together they find comfort and accept that moving on is necessary. Reid is a true gentleman who doesn’t push Layla when she’s not ready, he’s all about going at her speed. Add in the way he is with her kinds and swoon. I Munoz wrote a killer book when she wrote The Rest of Me that’s full of heartache but with a happy ending.

Release + Review - Delicate Promises - Kelly Elliott

A stand-alone romance novel in the Southern Bride Series

Blurb –
At eighteen-years-old, I made a promise with my best friend in high school. If neither one of us
were married by age thirty, we would marry each other. Now Miles Warner is back in town and
wants to cash in on that promise we made all those years ago.
The fact that Miles is still unmarried and single baffles me. The young man I remembered from
high school has grown into one of the most handsome men I’ve ever laid eyes on. And he
refuses to take no for an answer. You see, he needs a bride, and I’m his last resort. Romantic,
isn’t it?
Well, no thank you. That is not going to happen.
At least that’s what I keep telling myself. But as the days pass by and Miles settles back into life
in our hometown, I find myself falling head over heels in love with him. Again.
What is the lesson I’ve learned, you ask?
Never make a promise you don’t intend to keep.

Johnaka's Review
“Promises made, promises kept, 5 stars”

Okay, let’s be honest I loved the Cowboys & Angels series and Delicate Promises is really the first book from Elliott since we wrapped up that family. I won’t lie and will admit I was a little nervous going into Delicate Promises. Will I love this couple as much as I loved all the Parkers? Will I still be stuck in Parker land and not honestly give these guys a chance? Well thankfully Elliott put my fears to rest.

Miles and Kynslee have been best friends for forever but life separated them for a while. Now Miles is back and he’s calling in on a promise Kynslee and him made years before. Is it for the right reasons or the wrong? Will Kynslee let him back in after so much time? Will these two get their happily ever after? Only one way to find out.

So far if I had something to say about the Southern Bride’s series is that these heroines deserve a medal. There is no denying that the men are awesome but so far the men seem to almost miss what’s right in front of them. I love and hate it. But let me tell you when they make their move, they make it big. I can see how this may not be a love story for everyone, but I love a good friend to lovers story so I was into it.

Release + Review - The Second we Met - Maya Hughes

Dear Jerk Across the Street, sorry for accidentally walking in on you and catching an eyeful of your—equipment. And hard pass on the open invitation to join you in the shower “anytime”, A-hole.

That’s the note I should’ve written. Instead I sent a pleasant and apologetic version.
Had I known Phoenix “Nix” Russo would’ve been the neighbor from hell, I’d have told him right where he could shove my words.
Nix is the big man on campus with everyone lined up at his games to make sure he knows it. Sure, he’s got piercing green eyes, abs that don’t quit and a smile that could set fire to a set of panties from a hundred yards away, but he’s also the biggest pain in my ass.
Dear Pink-Haired Menace, learn how to take a joke and stop being such a kill-joy...

Elle Masterson called the cops on one of my parties—again. My sweet talking usually gets me out of trouble, but this time it got me into a nice pair of silver handcuffs. Now I’m on a reputation rehab tour with a stop at a spring break community service project.
Guess who’s my new boss?
Now we’re shoulder to shoulder, sweaty, tired and…she’s not anything like I expected. There might just be a heart under that hardass exterior. She’s invading my dreams and I can’t shake the feeling she’s the key to unlocking a piece of me that I’ve hidden away.
It’s only a matter of time until she finds out why I’m really here.
Maybe I can break through her walls and into her heart before that screw at a time.

Johnaka's Review

“The football player and the philanthropist, 5 stars”

Elle just wants to be a good person and give back to others. She’s been burned by others and she never want’s to do that to someone else. So even though she’s all about giving and helping she can’t help but be a little jaded. Especially when it comes to her love life, or should I say nonexistent love life. When she met Nix she will admit she was attracted to him, I mean he was in a towel right of the shower, who can say no to that? But she’s been with a guy like him and doesn’t want that again. Even though she’s admit to stay away there’s just something about the guy next door.
The pink haired girl across the street is attractive, there is no doubt but she’s also a pain in Nix’s behind. When Nix teams up with Elle on a humanitarian job things start to change. There was never any denying that the chemistry between the two was explosive, but what if its so much more? Does Nix have time for a woman when his life is so chaotic as it is? Only one way to find out.
Hughes gave us a fun story of opposites attract in The Second We Met. It also reminds us not everything is as it seems. We may see one thing when we look at someone but they could be wearing a mask. There is so much more to each of these characters then what everyone sees, except for the other person. I really got into the story and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Louise's Review
The Second we Met is a enemies to lovers story and book 2 in the Fulton U series and can be read as a standalone which is what I have done; but now I might just have to keep reading because I am hooked.

Elle has her eye on the prize and she will not be distracted by the partying ways of the hot Jock from across the road, when her latest complaint put him in the firing line, she never thought she would have to spend time with him. Granted Nix puts in the work and they become closer, both holding onto secrets that could break them, their relationship can either make or break them.

Having read Hughes before I knew that this book would be jam packed with drama and emotion. There were times when I wanted to shake both of them and tell them to pull their heads in but in the end it all evened out and they got to a place where they were working on their own dreams.

I cannot wait to read book 3, the minor characters throughout this book are a great addition.

Jennifer's Review
Solid college romance novel. I am reluctant to call this a sports romance as I did not feel there was enough sports actually in it to call it that. I liked this book, but it did frustrate me at times. With that being said, I still cannot wait until the next book.

The plot of this book was good. I liked the overall storyline. The characters were good. Some of them annoyed me, but overall it was good. I loved the heat in the book. The writing style was also good.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but it was not a 5 star for me. I really enjoy reading this author and plan to continue to read from her in the future.

“Are you always so charming, B + E?”
“There’s a lot to get done this week and I don’t have time to hold anyone’s hand or break out the hose when you two are going at it behind the work shed.”
“Way to jump nine hundred steps ahead. If there’s anyone who’d be banging someone it would probably be the woman who has enough condoms to last most people half a century. Or are you all out of those? Been busy lately.” All I was looking for was a chill spring break, but she had to push buttons like she was manning a submarine.
“You’re such a cocky asshole. And you know what? Yeah, I’ve been really busy. You haven’t heard? Everyone on the block has had at least three rounds, but still nowhere near your manwhore levels I’m sure.”
“This manwhore doesn’t kiss and tell.” I puckered my lips, which were met with the cold, hard metal of a hammer shoved up to my mouth. Could’ve been worse. She could’ve used the claw end.
“Don’t trip and fall over your ego and end up with a hole in your head.” She dragged her hands over her face like the world was perched on her shoulders. “Listen, be careful and pay attention. We don’t need anyone getting hurt and it screwing up the work permits and stuff for the site. Wouldn’t want to injure the campus golden boy.” Her barely contained eye roll was all I got before she shoved a pair of work gloves at me. Her about face from claws out to a hint of actual concern threatened me with whiplash. Was there ever someone more confusing and infuriating than Elle?

Release - What we do in the Light - Stylo Fantome

Just one month ago, Valentine O'Dell got her heart ripped out – yet another problem to add to her rapidly growing list. Between fighting to bring her sick grandmother home, searching for a new apartment after being evicted, and trying to figure out how exactly she's going to pay for everything, she doesn't have time to cry over a broken heart.
Then Ari Sharapov walks back in and tries to solve everything.
Ari may have gained a little more control in his life, but there's still one area he doesn't have a grip on – Valentine refuses to believe anything he says. Gone is the girl who wanted someone to take care of her, and in her place is a woman who's willing to take everything he has to offer, but without giving anything of herself in return. He's used to fighting battles in a courtroom, but convincing her of his feelings will be his biggest struggle yet.
Maybe it's time for this relationship to be brought to light.

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

Release + Review - Stateless - Meli Raine

When you’re born without a trace, no one knows you’re a weapon.

I lie for her.
I hunt for her.
I kill for her.
And above all, I betray my mission for her.
She doesn’t know why. She doesn’t care why.
I do.
Treason comes in many forms.
Love is one of them.
Our training taught me to be a sociopath. A machine. A pawn. Nothing more than a tool for a larger goal, without attachments or feelings.
Our teachers forgot one important detail:
Pawns shouldn’t have hearts.
Yet we do.
It turns out our emotions are our greatest weapon.
And I know exactly where mine are aimed.

The Stateless Series also includes:

Fateless (release date TBA)

Jennifer's Review
When do I get the next one? This was a great first book in a series. It gave us everything we needed. It set up perfectly for the next book and left us wanting more.

The plot if this book was unique. It is modern day life meets sleepers. I am very interested to see what happens next. I liked the characters for the most part. The main female annoys me a little bit, but not enough to be a turn off. There is some heat in this book as well.

What I really liked was the writing style. The author writes in a dual point of view. I loved how the author revealed layers of this world, including where they ended up. This book was a bit slow for me, but I feel like the next books will speed up.

In conclusion, I liked this book. I am dying to read the next one. It is a great novel for those who like to see the world in a different light.

Plot: 5/5 Characters: 4/5 Heat: 4/5 Writing style: 5/5 Overall: 4/5

I do not sleep.
Kina does, though, and that matters more.
Sleep is a luxury when we are in Woods. She knows it. I know I should catch an hour or two, especially with my five-night punishment and determination to go for six, but I can't.
What did I just say?
What did I just do?
Kina has the dreams. I have the dreams. I've never told anyone else anything that wasn't one hundred percent part of The Mission.
To confess emotion, to confess my own dreams that do not fit The Mission, could be punished by death.
Or worse. What if I really am so weak? Emotion is shameful. It’s disgusting.
We fail every time we feel.
She knows this. I know this.
And yet we both spoke. Shared.
What does this mean?
With her sleeping beside me, I let my mind wander, giving in to the luxury of imagination. For years, the dream has been the same.
A burning wood fire.
A screaming boy.
A woman with long hair being shot.
A man with a shaved head and blue eyes like mine beaten by another man with a log.
And me with my bow and arrow. My hands are tiny, the skin around the knuckles dimpled. I've worked with the four-year-olds here at the compound. I know what young hands look like.
Why would I dream like that?
“Thank you,” I choke out.
“For what?” His eyes cut away. The air between us has changed. I can't explain it. Suddenly, I'm uncomfortable.
And yet I just want to be with him.
“For killing for me.”
As the words come forth from my mouth, I cringe inside. I did not mean to say for me. “For me” implies that he killed the bunny out of some attachment to me.
We are not allowed to have emotions for one another. It puts us at risk.
“I did it for me,” he says, louder than he should need to.
“You did?”
“To challenge Romeo.”
“Why would you do that?” My voice goes up to a sharp squeak at the end, incredulous.
He laughs. “Because we are taught to destabilize power structures.” He looks around. “What do you think the compound is?”
The word feel is foreign. It's as if Callum speaks another language. My heart jumps inside the cage of my chest.
“Feel,” I murmur.
Just then, Callum's hand brushes against mine.
My organs have become trampolines, it seems, because my heart jumps into my throat.
He slides his index finger against mine, the touch no more than an inch of skin.
Revealing a mile of need.

Release + Review - Falling for my Brother's Best Friend - Piper Rayne

Let’s say you’re an independent, self-sufficient woman who runs the family company and you find yourself falling for your little brother’s best friend. Now, more than ever, you need to count all the reasons why you need to abandon falling.

Abandon Falling #1 – He’s a womanizer. Hasn’t had a serious relationship a day in his life and changes women more often than he changes his sheets.

Abandon Falling #2 – He’s never serious. He cracks one-liners, mostly at your expense.

Abandon Falling #3 – When things go wrong, he seems unfazed and always remains in control. It’s so annoying.

Abandon Falling #4 – He has tattoos. Lots of them. Everywhere. Not to mention, he owns a tattoo parlor. (Damn it! Why doesn’t that sound like a bad thing anymore?)

Abandon Falling #5 – There’s a growing list of how different you two are. You can’t get along for fifteen minutes—a lifetime together would land one of you in prison.

Keep repeating those reasons and drown yourself in work. Pretend you don’t notice his good qualities or how enticing he looks without a shirt, and do not, I repeat, do not agree to live with the man while your place is being repaired from flood damage.

Trust me, even the strongest of us can only forego temptation for so long.

Ditch adulting because this is the book you can’t and won’t put down; Piper & Rayne has delivered again, Savannah the responsible Bailey has come out to play.

Liam has been part of the Bailey family for a long time, he has been infatuated with Savannah since he was a teenager. Savannah is all work; she has a responsibility to her family and she won’t be the one to let anyone down. When their friendship turns toxic will are, they able to forgive or walk away and ignore the chemistry that is between them?

The moment Savannah and Liam hit my kindle I knew that I needed to make sure my day was cleared. Piper & Rayne have again written a story that makes you want to want to be part of Lake Starlight; I am counting down till I can get my hands on the next Bailey’s instalment.

Johnaka's Review
“The Bailey we’ve been waiting for, 5 stars”

Okay, I just want to say I’m excited and love all the Bailey’s. But for me personally Savannah’s been the one that’s held back. She’s there, she’s active in everyone’s lives, but she’s never really had a life outside of work for herself in my eyes. So, when Falling for my Brothers Best Friend landed on my kindle I got excited. Piper and Rayne killed it. The transformation that Savannah goes through is amazing.

Savannah is all work, family, and that’s about it. She doesn’t have time for any distractions, and Liam is most definitely a distraction. The chemistry is there but chemistry isn’t everything. Will Savannah let her guard down and let him in further than he is already? Or will she not even give him a shot?

Liam has always wanted Savannah. He sees her when no one, not even herself does. But sometimes life doesn’t work out the way you want it to, kind of like him wanting Savannah and her not being interested. Are they doomed to be stay in this toxic verbal sparring forever or will they lay down their hurtful words and make nice?

Liam is one of my favorite kind of hero’s, a little bit bad, a whole lotta good, willing to fight for what he wants kind of guy. I will be honest there was a couple times I desperately wanted to reach through my book and slap Savannah across the face and scream OPEN YOUR EYES! But I couldn’t. With that said I think Piper and Rayne wrote them the perfect story for who the characters were. It was the kind of love story they both deserved. And the ending has me waiting for the next Bailey story.
