Review Blitz - Royally Yours - Emma Chase

Princess Lenora Celeste Beatrice Arabella Pembrook had an unusual childhood. She was raised to be a Queen—the first Queen of Wessco.

It’s a big deal.

When she’s crowned at just nineteen, the beautiful young monarch is prepared to rule. She’s charming, clever, confident and cunning.

What she isn’t…is married.

It’s her advising council’s first priority. It’s what Parliament is demanding, and what her people want.

Lenora has no desire to tie herself to a man—particularly one who only wants her for her crown. But compromises must be made and royals must do their duty.

Even Queens. Especially them.

**

Years ago, Edward Langdon Richard Dorian Rourke, walked away from his title and country. Now he’s an adventurer—climbing mountains, exploring jungles, going wherever he wants, when he wants—until family devotion brings him home.

And a sacred promise keeps him there.

To Edward, the haughty, guarded little Queen is intriguing, infuriating…and utterly captivating. Wanting her just might drive him mad—or become his greatest adventure.

**

Within the cold, stone walls of the royal palace—mistrust threatens, wills clash, and an undeniable, passionate love will change the future of the monarchy forever.

Every dynasty has a beginning. Every legend starts with a story.

This is theirs.

OUR REVIEW:

“Queen’s rise, 5 stars”

I love Royal stories, I can’t exactly pin point why exactly but there is just something about them that I love. Royally Yours, gah it just settled me need for a new royal love story. I love Chase’s stories but there is just something about the way she writes royal stories that has me crossing my fingers hoping that she never stops.
Lenora knew from a young age that she would become Queen of her country and rule her people. Her father prepared her for it her whole life. She thought she knew what she was getting into but was quickly mistaken. When they set the crown on her head it all clicked, she became her peoples Queen and she wanted to do them proud. Lenora has an uphill battle ahead, will she rise, or will she fall?
Edward went off and served his country, then he went on a grand adventure. He wrote to his brother telling him tales of his journey. His brother wrote back about the things him and his best friend Lenora were up to. Edward thought he would know Lenny when he met her, but he didn’t. She took his breath away, and when his brother makes a request he follows through. Only he never expected what would follow. Will he fall in love with his Queen?
Edward brought Lenora to life. She was fierce on her own but with him by her side Lenora truly becomes the woman and Queen she needs to be. My favorite thing about him was he had no problem with the power she wielded, he never tried to take it from her and tame her and I loved him even more for doing so. Their love story isn’t a simple one, it’s filled with heartache and scares, but dear lord was it worth it. Please, go one-click Royally Yours because this story, even though told in a different time needs to be devoured.

OUR REVIEW:

This is the second book in the Linear Tactical series. I had the pleasure of reading Cyclone as an ARC as well as Eagle. While this is the second in the series, it can also be read as a stand alone. Once again, this is a great read about second chance romance.

We were introduced to Charlotte and Finn in book one. These two characters have a lot of past to get over to get to their futures. I enjoyed the way this book tied in so nicely to the first book. I enjoyed seeing how the secrets that were kept and the past that kept popping up interacted with the present of these two characters. These two shared such a passion in high school and college, and it pops up again, but with the beauty of age and wisdom. Everyone deserves a second chance! It's even better when you throw in a bit of military mystery and intrigue.

Finn is just such an awesome guy. Best dad ever working so hard for his son to overcome his young past and special education needs. Plus, he's just a hot ex-military guy with an alpha streak a mile wide. Of course, he's got his issues getting over his past. Charlotte is a great special education specialist. She's a woman on a mission to be self sufficient and help her family. But she's having trouble being truthful and make it all work. Charlie and Finn were once in a white hot passionate relationship and they have to work out how to reconcile that past with the secrets and needs of their current lives.

I loved how the first book set up their relationship. But even without reading that, you get that the two have a serious past in the first chapter! They start out with a prejudiced type of civility towards each other that borders on love/hate. You can tell they have a past, and while it was fantastic, it flash-banged out... But they still have an underlying care for each other that comes out and creates a slow burn start to the new phase to their relationship.
I love reading Janie Crouch! The dialogue is witty and well done. The characters work well together and mesh to create a cohesive family and intricate story line. Finn and Charlie's story sucked me in and I read it in one fell swoop one night. There was such a creative mix of hardworking characters, just enough alpha ex- military manly men, with soft spoken hard working women and adorable little Ethan!

Conclusion - Recap how you felt about the book. Will you read other books by this author? Would you recommend this book to others? Final thoughts on book.
I loved this book. Maybe even more than Cyclone. I'm not a huge mystery, espionage fan; but this was just the right amount to keep you guessing and involved in not only the romance, but the whole Linear Tactical team. Can't wait for Shamrock!

Blog Tour & Review - All I Need - Jennifer Van Wyk

ALL I NEED_BT.jpg

All I Need, an all-new emotional standalone from Jennifer Van Wyk is available NOW!

All I Need_5x8 Paperback

It took me years to get over my fiancé sleeping with another woman. I thought my luck with men had finally turned around until I walked in on my new fiancé with my maid-of-honor.
I’m done with men entirely. I’m definitely old enough to know better than to let that happen to me again. Trust isn’t something I have in me to give… to anyone. At least, Not anymore.
Besides, even if I wanted to give someone my everything, I have nothing left to give. Now, if Walker could be just a tad less handsome, his relationship with his nephew not quite as sexy and his body… well, let’s not get crazy. His body is just a gift to womankind.
The moment I laid eyes on Ellie, I knew she’d be full of spit and vinegar. And why wouldn’t she be? She’d just caught her fiancé with her maid of honor – and they weren’t chatting about the upcoming nuptials.
I can’t help but push her buttons, she’s sexy as hell when she’s fired up. Or cooking dinner with Miss Polly, or… well, any time, really. Maybe having her work for me in my vet clinic wasn’t the smartest move I’ve ever made considering I can’t stop my body from aching for her.
She said she was done with men entirely, that she’s broken but I can’t help but hope that she realizes she’s All I Need.

Our Review:

“Will she ever get her HEA? 5 stars”

Ellie truly has horrible luck when it comes to picking men. Her life is once again in shambles because of one when Walker stumbles upon her. What she didn’t expect was for him to know exactly what she needed when she needed it. Because of him she found her family. Will she be able to lay to rest the ghosts of her past and give him a chance? Or will she stay away from the romantic kind of love?

When Walker drove up on Ellie he was intrigued, then he lost his breath when he got a good look at her. He knows skittish when he see’s it and Ellie most definitely is. He takes her to the one place that he knows will help her heal and hopefully along the way he can help too. Ellie makes him realize over the years he’s never really done anything for himself but for those around him. She makes him want to change and what he wants is her. Will he manage to get her?

All I Need is a fantastic story where you literally see Walker breathing life back into Ellie. She finally finds all that she’s been missing. These two are like two magnets who keep drifting towards each other even when they know they shouldn’t and its awesome. I loved how Van Wyk crafted the story so flawlessly that I couldn’t put the story down until I finished at 1:30A.M. I can’t wait to see what she does next.

Excerpt:

I bound up the porch steps after parking at an angle behind her and walk through the door as I knock.

Ellie comes around the corner of the kitchen, her blue eyes wide, coffee cup in her hand, pajamas still covering her body. My eyes make a trail from her head to the tips of her slipper covered bare feet. She has on a long tan sweater but the tank top and shorts underneath leave nothing to the imagination. Which, after last night, is vivid.

“Is everything okay?”

“Set the coffee down, Ellie.”

“What?”

“If you don’t want to be wearing that coffee, I’d suggest you place that cup of coffee you’re holding onto the table beside you.”

She looks down at her coffee then up at me again before gently placing it down. Before she stands up straight, I make the space between us disappear, place my hands on her cheeks, and change our lives forever.

The kiss isn’t anything like the chaste kiss we shared after Camilla was born. Having her work for me, seeing her every day has been the most delicious kind of torture there is. The stolen kisses and shared looks, trying not to stare at the way her chest fills out the navy blue scrubs. As my tongue plunges into her mouth, I feel the vibration of her moan. I respond with a moan of my own, wrap my arms around her lower back and pull her in close, our bodies pressing against each other. With our height difference, it’s not as if we’re some perfect fit but it doesn’t matter because it feels perfect. Her body forms to mine and I can’t help when my body reacts.

I let my fingers make a slow trip down her body, our lips not separating for a single second. I brush my thumbs against the outside of her breasts and if my mouth wasn’t already busy devouring hers, I would smile. But I don’t want to waste precious seconds of time. I haven’t tasted enough of her yet.

Her head tilts to the side, allowing me to deepen the kiss. I wrap my arms around her ass and lift, her legs instantly circling my hips making it so I can feel the heat of her center against my hardness. Tongues collide and lips bruise but it’s all so amazing and the hottest thing I’ve ever experienced. Well, aside from last night.

I move slightly, kissing my way down her jaw until my lips find the spot just below her ear. She shivers and I smile, cataloging that little bit of information for later.

“Well good morning, Walker.” At the sound of Miss Polly’s voice Ellie stiffens in my arms but I’m not having it.

“That it is, Miss Polly. That it is,” I say cheerfully, not letting Ellie down no matter how much she squirms.

“I’ll just go add in a few more eggs to the scramble for breakfast. Don’t mind me,” Miss Polly calls out as she walks back out of the room.

“Walker!”

“Ellie!” I tease, tightening my grip on her.

“Would you let me down? Miss Polly is here.”

“And she said not to mind her.”

I move over to a chair in the corner of the room and sit down, allowing her to straddle me. Not a hardship on my part.

“Morning.” I grin and lean up to kiss her on the lips again.

She rolls her eyes but returns my kiss. “Morning,” she mumbles.

“Grumpy, grumpy. I’d have thought you’d be much happier after a good orgasm.”

“Walker, would you shush?” she whisper-shouts looking toward the kitchen where we know Miss Polly is still bustling around.

I reach over to the table she set her coffee on and lift her cup to my lips, taking a sip, pleasantly surprised when I notice that she takes her coffee the same as I do with just a splash of milk, then hand it to her. She smiles, takes a big gulp then replaces the cup on the table. “By the way, I guarantee Miss Polly already knew. Nothing happens in this house she doesn’t know about.”

She glares at me. “Well in that case, I hope you enjoyed our one and only time.”

“Not happening. That’s something I plan on repeating. Often.” Hopefully next time there won’t be phones separating us, though.

I can see the pulse in her throat pounding as she thinks about a repeat performance of our phone sex from last night. I wonder if she can feel how it affects me as well. To drive my point home, I press up against her and I can’t help but smile when she gasps.

“Mm hmm. You act so tough. Admit how incredible that was.”

She shrugs but won’t look me in the eye. I move her chin so she’s facing me. “Look at me, Ellie.”

When I finally have her deep blue gaze on mine, I say, “That was the sexiest thing I’ve ever experienced. Second only to finding your vast sex toy collection,” I tease and she bites her lip. “You have nothing to be embarrassed about. Not with me, okay? Never with me. That was a first for me, too. It’s important to me for you to know that. And Ellie?”

“Yeah?”

I lean in close, my hand on the back of her neck tugs her into me and I lower my voice, my lips grazing her ear as I tell her, “I plan on reliving every single moment of last night with you very soon. But this time, we won’t be on the phone.”

“Soon?” she whispers.

I kiss a slow path down her neck before I let her lean back away from me, but not far. “Very soon.”

OUR REVIEW:

A lovely ending to the Kane brothers, while leaving us wanting more on their little sister Daisy. I loved finally getting to know more about Denver and seeing him let himself find some happiness. I'd say this book is a standalone, but it really benefits the reader to enjoy the first two books in the series to fully understand all the backstory and family dynamics.

Reclaiming Brave is a best friend's older brother romance. Sierra has long has a thing for her best friend Daisy's older brother Denver. When the inevitable happens, they can't put it in the past as they're now expecting a baby together. They each have to face their pasts to create a future for the baby and figure out how to make their relationship work.

Sierra is the light and airy side to this story. Denver is the dark and brooding mystery. Opposites attracting. But opposites can work. Sierra grew up in privilege, with a unique family tree that wasn't super close. She's a young artist trying to find her place in a world full of possibilities. Meanwhile Denver grew up without as much; his father severely negatively impacting his young adult life. He's not sure the future has much possibility for him. But when he finds he has a baby on the way, he finds he wants to share in Sierra's bright outlook for the future, and do better, be better, make changes, and stand brave.

There were little tidbits dropped in previous books about how Sierra felt about Denver, and the whisper of Denver thinking the same of Sierra. But they kept it to themselves to keep Daisy happy and not ruin family and friendships. When they combust on a couch (always a couch!), they try to make it everything so that it won't happen again, can't happen again. But the pregnancy changes everything. Denver has to come to terms with the idea of if he can be a good father. He's a great lover, but he needs to be more. So while he works on the father and relationship thing, they make the most of the hormones and have no problems with their sex life!

I love this author! Miss Azzi draws you into the Kane family and you shed tears of sorrow and hope and joy with them, for them. I loved the evolution of Denver in this book and the way his family rallies around him, and how he deals with Sierra's family.

Conclusion - Recap how you felt about the book. Will you read other books by this author? Would you recommend this book to others? Final thoughts on book.
This book is a close second for my favorite in the series. Denver had lost so much it was heartwarming to see him gain such light and love. I can't wait to too how he deals with his baby (not giving away the cupcake filling color!). Books that draw me in for the long haul, a series where I get to know all the family and friends, town and backstory are my favorite. You get to adopt them as yours for a while, instead of your own insane life for a while. So my thanks to the author for such amazing books, studly men, well rounded women, and great descriptions of hometowns. Can't wait for Daisy's story!

Favorite Quotes:

“Denver exudes confidence, an unapologetic boldness that shifts the entire dynamic of a room the moment he enters.”

“Her mischievous smirk pisses me off as much as it turns me on.”

“Her idealism and zest for life pissed me off in its naivete and yet, I wanted to listen to her speak for hours, learn more about the way her mind worked, see the world the way she did, if only for a moment.”

“From the first time I laid eyes on Denver Kane, I wanted to make him smile. Laugh. Trade a bit of his ever present severity for a spark of mischief.”

“We're in this, whatever this is, together.”

“Sierra lives with so much enthusiasm, such a zest for life.”

“It's important to embrace the present for all the wonder it offers...Not to continually live in or compare the now to the past.”

“I want to be worthy for my family. I want to be enough. And I will be.”
