Release + Review - Slip Up - TC Matson

Book three of Taking Chances, a standalone series.

What was supposed to be a fun birthday trip to Sin City,
Ended up being a whole lot more than I bargained for.
A night filled with drinks leads to an incredible, unforgettable one-night stand.
With. A. Hot. Racecar. Driver.
But the morning after, he disappears and I’m forced to leave with nothing but the memory of his kiss on my lips, an ache between my legs, and a friggin’ wedding ring on my finger.

For months I try to find him while hoping he contacts me,
But nothing but silence follows and I’m left alone and forgotten.
Until out of the blue he shows up at my door, insisting what happened in Vegas is worth pursuing.
We get lost in each other while his PR team handles everything else.
And just when I think things can’t get any better, we get news that rocks us to our core.
It promises us a future we never considered.
Falling madly in love with my husband has never felt so great.
That’s until tragedy hits and it destroys everything we’ve built.
It wrecks me and sends me fleeing.
But the man I married doesn’t give up so easily.
He proves that nothing will stand in the way of us and shows that I’m his forever.

Louise's Review

Slip Up is book 3 in the standalone Taking Chances series; a romance with a side of heartbreak.

Amelia was spending her 21st birthday in sin city, but when she wakes up married to a very sexy race car driver things don’t go as planned. Declan has strong views about marriage, he doesn’t know what made him finally tie the knot but when he gets back to his room to find out she is nowhere to be found. Continued interference stops them from finding each other, when Amelia and Declan find their balance the unthinkable happens leaving their future hanging by a thread.

I personally LOVED this story; it was swoon worthy and it was also heartbreaking. Matson is a new to me author and she had me hook line and sinker. I cannot wait to get my hands on more from Matson in the future.

Release + Review - Lea Coll - Only With You

The sexy-as-sin contractor and straightlaced attorney are from two different worlds, but can they find common ground with each other in this small-town romance?

Hadley
First I turned down a marriage proposal, then I moved to Annapolis to open a law firm. I thought my world couldn't change any more...

Until Cade stepped into my office, smelling of sawdust with his company’s T-shirt stretched taut over his chest and biceps. Everything about him was sexy-as-sin and completely off-limits.

But I can’t risk the business I sunk my savings into by dating a client, and he won’t risk his heart.

The more we spend time together, the more I want him. Even if a relationship between us was possible, how can he give me all of him?

Cade
After my wife died, I swore off dating. I threw myself into my charity instead. It was easy at first, but I can't ignore my attraction anymore.

Hadley comes from a wealthy family that operates with manipulation, lies, and deceit. I don’t fit into her world, but the closer we get, the more I wanted to show her how things could be different.

I never thought I’d meet someone who gave me hope for a future. One full of possibilities, love, and maybe even marriage and kids.

But how can I promise her forever when I know love doesn’t last?

Louise's Review

Only with you is book 1 in the new Annapolis Harbor series, having read Coll previously I couldn’t wait to jump in.

Hadley decides to leave it all behind, go out on her own and create a life she wants; when she moves to a small town, she meets Cade her first client and a man that she is starting to connect with on more levels than she ever has before. Cade was going on day by day, the only thing he wanted was to help families with his renovations; can he open his heart again and be the best person he can?

I personally enjoyed this story; Coll has an easy flow writing style that makes you not want to put it down. I look forward to more from this series.

Johnaka's Review
“Starting over, 3 stars”

In Only with You Hadley leaves her home, her family and starts fresh. She needs time and space from her family. What she wasn’t expecting was Cade. Cade who doesn’t want a relationship after the heartache he’s been through, yet he can’t stay away from Hadley. The push and pull is strong with these two. The question is will they take a chance on love with each other.

I enjoy Coll’s story telling. I honestly think the only reason this book isn’t getting a 4 stars from me is because I couldn’t fall into it like normal thanks to the craziness surrounding me. Must kids really fight? Honestly if you like a good story about someone finding love again then I think you will enjoy Only with You.

Release + Review - Crude - Sloan Storm

Hunky oil billionaire Colt Kincade demands I sell him my ranch. But I refuse, and he's not happy about it.

Pfft. Whatever. Mr. Tall, Dark and Country thinks he can get whatever he wants, huh?
Well, I'm not some social-climbing, gold-digging, moon-eyed-orbiter lusting after him just because he's hotter than a two-dollar pistol. He may have tongues wagging all across the Lone Star state, but his charms won't work on me.
I hate everything about him - his tantalizing Texas drawl, his swaggering God's gift attitude, his soul-searing, come-and-get-it-girls stare.
And no. I don't care that he loves dogs, his momma or his daddy's dusty old pickup.
He's trouble. Trouble I do not need. Besides, I've got problems of my own.
Broke? Yep.
Single? Sadly.
Desperate? Getting there.
The truth is, I'm running out of time, out of options, and out of hope.
I need the money he's offering.
But even worse, my heart thinks it needs Colt, too.

Louise's Review
Colt has been working out this deal for a long time and when it all starts to fall apart he finds himself dealing with the gorgeous yoga instructor Jessie, a situation they both didn’t expect to find themselves in. The love / hate relationship they share boils hot as their chemistry continues to grow. Can the Oil Tycoon win over the yoga loving vegan?

I enjoyed reading this book, Storm is a new to me author and brought a fresh story to the table.

I look forward to reading more in the future.

EXCERPT
I’m not sure what was harder.
Slipping and sliding all over the place from that damn hot yoga or trying to keep my cock from tying in a knot. I had a vague idea of what I expected her to look like…
And it sure as hell wasn’t this.
I went there with one thing in mind… completing my mission and closing the deal.
But, after watching her curvy figure prowl around the classroom for an hour, drilling of a different sort was on my mind. However, despite her earlier behavior, or maybe because of it, Jessie kept it professional, stopping by once or twice to correct my form.
Did that matter to me, though?
Hell no.
Wherever her tiny hands touched, my skin lit up like red-hot charcoal.
After class ended, I hung around, sipping on some cold water and toweling off. Shit, sweat poured from places I didn’t know it could. No idea how people made a regular habit of this insanity.
That room was hotter than all git out.
She chatted with one of the folks in the class, I polished off my drink and headed her direction. Thing is, I had to be careful. Sending the wrong message would get me in a heap of trouble and no closer to the actual reason I’d come there.
I closed in on her, our eyes met.
What a damn angel.
Lucky for me she didn’t bear any resemblance to ole Clint. Poor bastard was so ugly his momma had to tie a pork chop around his neck so the dogs would play with him.
No, she got her looks from her mother.
Especially those eyes - big and blue and bright - like nothing I’d ever seen.
Jessie tucked a wisp of loose hair behind her ear.
“I was pretty impressed with you,” she said before finishing her dig with a cute little wink. “Not bad. Usually big guys like yourself quit the first time around. They never come back after that.”
I enjoyed her teasing.
How couldn’t I?
“That a fact? What makes you think this is my first time?”
Jessie shot me a liar’s look, wrapping her fingers around her hips.
“Fair enough.” Held up my hands, showed her my palms. “I guess you could say this is my first yoga rodeo.”
So, my initial plan was to just get it over with, explain what I was doing there, see how she reacted. But, the longer we talked, the more impossible I realized that would be. Bullets were already flying, ricocheting on the battlefield, and I needed a new strategy.
After all, I’d have to reveal everything to her.
No way in hell that would work.
Think about it…
Somehow a random stranger knew everything about her life, including her adoption. Also, I knew her birth father, was a friend of his. If that wasn’t enough to have her kicking me out the front door, she was the heir to a ranch I needed in the worst way.
Course I was under the gun to get the damn deal done before Tucker tracked her down. My gut told me there had to be another way to make it happen, but my brain hadn’t bothered to provide me any details. Getting an eyeful of that tight, lean body of hers though, I knew one thing for sure.
That dog wouldn’t hunt.
This wasn’t the time or place to be in deal-making mode.
“So,” she began, snapping me out of my strategizing. “Are you from out of town? Here on business?”
 “No, Dallas born and bred.”
“Uh huh.” Jessie deadpanned. “Hmm, why do I feel like you don’t belong in a yoga studio?”
“Because I don’t. Said so yourself.”
“Well, do you think you’ll come back? Hot yoga isn’t the easiest class for a beginner. We have other options.”
“Do you teach any of those options?”
“No. I only teach the advanced classes.”
“I suppose I’ll have to take my chances then. Hope I don’t turn myself into a pretzel in the meantime.”
She chirped a melodic laugh - the type a man never tires of hearing. It was like the first bird you hear when Spring’s sprung at last. When she finished, Jessie drew her hands together at her waiflike waist, smiling so bright, I swore I saw it twinkle.
“Well, it was nice meeting you. I’ve got one more class to teach, so if you’ll excuse me, I need to get ready for it.”
“Pleasure,” I replied, stepping to one side and letting her pass.
When she walked off, my body caught fire. Barely an hour in her presence and that little woman stirred sensations inside of me that’d been dormant for a long damn time. She turned and looked at me over her shoulder, catching me in the act.
Didn’t matter. I wasn’t ashamed of anything.
I stared right back at her, letting her know there’d be more sweat in our future and not a yoga mat in sight.
After she left though, I blew out a long breath.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say her beauty and gentle spirit hypnotized me, but it was awful close. That little dove was a far cry from the viper pit of the social scene around Dallas. Over the years, I’d seen some women do crazy shit to remain in my orbit.
But Jessie?
She didn’t know a thing about me.
She was just… herself.
No pretending. No gold-digging. No horseshit games.
“Hmm,” I muttered, wiping my brow with the towel. “This is gonna be a problem.”
A serious problem.
Damn it to hell, Colt.

Release + Review - Make me Hate you - Kandi Steiner

"This is a return to the Kandi Steiner of 2016 who brought us Weightless and A Love Letter to Whiskey. Prepare for the burn." -- Author Sarah E. Green

Make Me Hate You, an angsty, emotional stand-alone romance from bestselling author, Kandi Steiner, is live!

If he kisses me right now, I’ll drown.

Every sip of air is shallow and burning, because in the arms of my best friend’s brother, I’m the closest I’ve ever been to sin.

His eyes flick to my lips, and I remember the first time I tasted him, seven years ago before I left this town and vowed never to return. His hands grip my waist, and I remember the pain when he rejected me, when my entire world crashed down at his command. His jaw clenches, and my senses come alive with one stinging reminder.

I’m not his to kiss, and he’s not mine.

I tried to stay away from Tyler Wagner, putting an entire country between us. But when his sister’s wedding brings us back to the same town, to the same house, I can’t avoid him, no matter how hard I try.

He’s always there, his dark eyes bewitching, luring me into their depths. The memory of us pulls me under like a rip current, and when he flashes that smile, I lose my breath, along with my will, unable to escape his grip and find the surface.

Now, hours before our plus ones arrive for the wedding, I’m in his arms, begging him to make me hate him, knowing he never could.

If he kisses me right now, I’ll drown.

And I’ll take him down with me.

Make Me Hate You is a best friend's brother romance that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Johnaka's Review
“Second chance, 4 stars”

I love Kandi and the angst she can give us. The angst in Make me Hate You is top notch, put you through the feels. The push and pull between Tyler and Jasmine was undeniable. I wanted them together. I loved the secondary characters.

So now you know what I loved, so your wondering why didn’t you give the book 5 stars… Make me Hate You had one thing that I really hate. Like loathe, usually stop reading kind of dislike. But I couldn’t put the book down, so I’m torn. How Kandi wrote it, can and has I’m sure happened in real life, but I just can’t get behind it. No matter how much I wanted these two together. If she took that one aspect out, but kept it so we felt that love and the temptation I would have given the book a 5. Dang morals. With that said I hope we see two of the people from Make me Hate You get their own love stories. They so deserve it.

ABOUT KANDI
Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.
An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed it to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.
When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer, and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.

Secrets of the World’s Worst Matchmaker is book 7 in The Bailey’s series; I have been waiting for Colton and Juno’s story from the beginning.

Colton and Juno, 5 stars”

I have been reading this series from the start and have mixed emotions about Colton and Juno. At first, I wanted them together, then I didn’t, and now I honestly wonder why I ever questioned it. Piper and Rayne took me through all the emotions where these two were concerned.

Juno and Colton have been best friends since they were little. Through the good and the bad the two have stood side by side weathering it all. Then when Colton finds himself engaged, they start to waver. Nothing can stay the same forever. The question is will the changing tides make Juno realize that her one true love has been right in front of her for years? Only one way to find out.

Release + Review - Wild Highway - Devney Perry

And she’s leaving it all behind.

Easton Greer challenges her every word and tests her every limit because he doesn’t believe she’s really abandoned her riches. She ignores his snide remarks and muttered censure—until the day she’s ready to return to the wild highway, and Easton taunts her to stay.

She’ll prove to him she’s not just running back to her wealthy life, that she’s more than her money. She’ll unlock her guarded heart and hope that this time around, he’ll treasure the key.

Johnaka's Review
“Blew me away, 5 stars”

When I read Runaway Road, I was highly intrigued by where Perry was taking this series. After reading Wild Highway I am completely head over heels in love with it. I love the idea of setting off trying to figure your life out, finding old friends, and falling in love. I loved Gemma and Easton hard. Wild Highway contained all of Perry’s usual small-town charm and I was here for it. Honestly, I feel like Wild Highway may be one of my favorite summer reads of 2020 and I cannot wait to see where she takes the rest of the series. I need it now!

EXCERPT

I opened the door, a smile still on my face, and collided, headfirst, with a wall of muscle.
“Oh, sorry.” I looked up and my heart stopped.
The smell of leather and aftershave filled my nose. I looked up to see a pair of dark brown eyes hooded by long, onyx lashes. I took in the straight nose, the sharp jaw and strong chin. My gaze dropped to the full lips I’d tasted once, on a night eleven years ago.
I’d never seen a face as symmetrical and so beautifully masculine as Easton Greer’s.
Even when he scowled, like he was now, it was a wonder.
He’d gotten even more handsome. How was that possible? He’d transformed from a young man to just a man, man. Rugged and rough and sexy.
“Gemma.” My name came out as a growl in his deep voice and I tore my gaze away from his mouth, taking a step back.
“Hi,” I breathed, the air heavy and thick.
He took a step away, then another, his glare unwavering.
Easton cast his scowl over his shoulder and spotted the Cadillac. “That yours?”
“Yes.”
“You’re staying here.” Not a question. An accusation. If he had it his way, I’d be uninvited.
I lifted my chin. “Yes, I came to see Katherine.”
His jaw ticked. “I thought we’d gotten rid of you years ago.”
Ouch. I guess he was still pissed about that whole sex in his room and waking up to find me gone.
But, good or bad, he hadn’t forgotten me.
