My Thoughts
If I told you I was in love with Ryan, I would not be exaggerating. I really love him.
Ryan Conner is an enforcer for the Phoenix Pack, he works hard and rides solo in life, he recieves word through a lone shifter shelter that he has a young cousin 'Zac' who needs a home. Eager to bring his new found family into his pack, he agrees to meet him, but his escort from the shelter insists on being present. That escort is Makenna, and neither she nor Ryan expect that each others worlds are about to be rocked.
Makenna is so much more than just a lone shifter, she is unique, quirky and as ilogical a person as Ryan as ever met. She's also his mate. She doesnt believe it because their is no pull, but Ryan knows, she is his. He is hers. He just needs to get rid of the invisible barrier between them. Simples. Nope.
There is a (weird) alpha out there set on a path that could destroy the shelter, his new found family and friends, his budding relationship. Ryan with the support of his own pack mates and Makenna & her friends, takes on this alpha and his gang of equally odd pack mates. In what is more that just physical scuffles, they're often engaged in a war of words.
So, yeah I love Ryan, I also loved Makenna, and Zac. I love that even though is part of an ongoing series, it can totally be read as a standalone, so I can recommend to others. I love the tension and drama that went along with the heat and the passion. I loved the none romantic romance. And I love that Makenna could understand and translate Ryan's Grunts.
"He thinks you should mind your own business, " Makenna told the Beta, translating the grunt. Dominic cocked his head. "You understand his Grunts?""You don't?""You got 'mind your own business'... from that one sound?"She lifted her chin "I thought it was crystal clear."Dominic turned to Ryan "Marry her." Ryan grunted again before heading for the door. "What did he say?""Fuck off."
Most of all, I love Suzanne Wright, for all her fab shifter men.
