Release + Review - Pippa Grant - Master Baker

They call me the sugar whisperer.

Anything your tongue desires, I can bake it. Scones? Child’s play. Cupcakes? I’ll frost them so good you won’t know what hit you. Donuts? Please.
You’re talking to a master baker.
But there’s one egg I’ve never been able to crack.
My best friend.
Correction: My former best friend.
She’s the apple in my pie. The whip in my cream. The lemon in my meringue. The wish in my bone.
She’s the one who got away.
After ten years in the military, she’s back. She’s bruised and battered by life, but she’s back.
Except she’s not my second chance. She’s gone to the dark side.
Running a rival bakery in a town not big enough for two.
So now I have to decide—which do I want more?
My bakery?
Or the woman I never should’ve let go in the first place?

Master Baker is a deliciously fun friends-to-enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy featuring a smooth-talking baker, the one who got away, and a goat with more matchmaking tendencies than a nosy old grandpa. It stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers.

Johnaka's Review

“friends-enemies-to lovers, 4 stars”

Grady Rock likes to talk dirty….dirty to his pastries. They are the only thing he has time for these days. He’s trying to get his bakery off the ground and that’s taking all of his attention, aside from Sue…his goat. Then he hears the bakery in Sarcasm has a new owner, one he is familiar with. He always thought it would be him and Annika running a bakery together and now she’s the enemy. Will they keep burning bridges while this bakery war continues or will they rekindle the once upon a time friendship they had?

Annika is home. She never thought she would be but when her family needs her, she goes. Now she’s running a bakery, one she never had a desire to be a part of. Let’s not even get into her baking skills. Then she sees Grady, her once upon a time best friend. Will they be able to make amends or will she continue to hold him at arm’s length?

I enjoyed the banter between Grady and Annika. Grady in the kitchen may put you in stitches. The others who were part of the story were pretty awesome as well new and old characters. I really hope Grant gives us Annika’s sisters story at some point. The only reason Master Baker isn’t getting a 5 is because I didn’t have tears in my eyes from laughing as often as I normally do when reading one of Grants stories. Either way, Master Baker is worth the ol’ one-click.

Louise's Review

Grady is an amazing baker with the one and only bakery until he comes face to face with the woman, he hasn’t seen in 10 years, Annika has come home from the military to help look after her family and help her mother live her dream.

Two towns, a rivalry going on decades there is no middle ground. Grady is still holding a candle for woman he fell inlove with over 10 years ago, realising that he has missed his best friend and is still madly in love with her. Annika has her priorities, helping her mother adjust to her new life and taking care of her teenage sister while trying to keep her mothers dream alive; what she doesn’t realise is that having Grady back in her life is something she wanted more than she realised.

I enjoyed reading the back and forth banter between Grady and Annika, there were a lot of minor characters throughout including an obnoxious bird and a naughty goat; keeping up with everyone was hard. I personally felt that there was a lot going on through out this story and a lot added in that was I felt was too much.

While this story personally wasn’t for me, it could very much be your next favourite.
