REVIEW - Tormented (Scorpio Stinger MC #4) by Jani Kay

Title - Tormented (Scorpio Stinger MC #4)
Author - Jani Kay

Synopsis

Can there be redemption for a man with a tortured soul and a twisted heart?

Harrison:
Anger and hatred taint my soul.
I hate bikers. Especially Ryder Knox, VP of the Scorpio Stinger MC, a foul mouthed biker and the one my little sister, Jade, has fallen for.
Man against man, the biker and I fight for our beliefs, neither giving in.

A tragic loss when I was much younger changes the course of my life, leaving me with rage and fury in my heart and my gut. There is no room for love.
I make it my life's work as a cop to wipe out the scum of the earth. It’s my singular focus. My passion. Nothing else matters. I don’t want anything more. No relationships, no family of my own to distract me.

Until I meet Ryder's sister, Eva. She's off limits, but despite my best intentions, I just can’t get the dark haired beauty out of my mind. I need Eva to submit to me and give me the control I so desperately crave.

Can Eva tame the beast in me and make me human again? Can she help me redeem myself for what I put Jade and Ryder through?

Or is HELL the only place for a man like me. A man so twisted and tortured? A beast?

Eva:
Harrison. Dark. Broody.
Definitely tormented.
A beast?

Maybe he is, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting him. On some deep level we connect—I see past the damaged outer into his very soul. Can I be the one to crack through his hardened heart and bring out the real man inside he’s hiding—even from himself?

Is there redemption for a man like Harrison Summers?
Or will he drag me straight into hell with him?

What I thought

Well now, it's finally Harrisons turn!
Harrison is Jade's brother (Jade from earlier books), so we already know him (as much as we can know a man like him) we know he is one hell of an angry man. Life's been beyond messed up for him previously, and his sole purpose in life is vengence. He has no hope, no solace, no desire for anything but revenge on the ones who took it all and everyone else who looks at him the wrong way.
Not content with living in his own misery he has recently brought a lot of devastation to his own sister. The man's a mess.

"Hatred would be my ally. My only friend. My saving grace."

Enter Eva. A woman who takes no rubbish and sees through everything. She affects him in ways he does not want. He desires her in ways he can't believe. She could fix this broken man, but would you know, she's the enemy Ryder's sister!

"The only reason Ryder isn't educated is because he didn't have the opportunities you and I had. He was battling for survival. In fact, I believe it made him a stronger person. One with compassion. You could actually learn a lot from my brother... and he's smart, so don't underestimate him."

There is so much going on in this book. It's all go from the start and it doesn't let up. Harrison has always put himself in danger, for the job. As a cop and as a man his mission is to clear the streets of the bad guys, whilst skirting the edge of being the bad guy himself. When things take the worst possible turn he is forced embrace help from his perceived enemy. And it ain't easy.

All the drama aside, the ending to this is possibly my favourite Jani Kay thing so far (And I've read all things Jani Kay) I loved Harrison and Eva and I loved the Scorpio Stingers!

"Everything will be exactly as it's meant to be."
