REVIEW - Rogue Agent by Kellie Wallace

Title - Rogue Agent
Author - Kellie Wallace

Synopsis

Time and space won’t stop Seth Langdon from eliminating his target…

In the year 2040, futuristic hit man Seth Langdon travels the world by rifts in time, carving a successful career in murdering corrupt men and women. He’s the top assassin working for the elite underground agency, Haroun.

If you’ve killed one scumbag, you’ve killed them all…

During a routine assignment in Oklahoma, Seth carries out a hit on an arms smuggler, David Bloom. But after the job is done, Seth can’t shake the feeling something is very wrong. He’s left haunted by the memory, but what made Bloom so different than Seth’s other targets?

Then his next assignment rolls in…

After a coveted promotion, Seth becomes an Expult agent—an assassin with the freedom and rights to eliminate specific targets. For his first official hit with the new job title, he’s ordered to kill animal activist Terra Bloom, daughter of David Bloom. Regardless of Seth’s guilt over killing her father, she’s just another target…or is she?

Seth’s moral compass spins out of control as inner struggles clash with his dedication to the job. When his decisions leads to tragic consequences, Seth and Terra embark on a journey, fleeing from the very organisation Seth dedicated his life to.

When a trained killer falls for his mark, he’ll use every resource to protect her—even if he’s deemed a Rogue Agent.

What I Thought

Rogue Agent is one of the best books I have read in a long time. Set in a futuristic time, Rogue Agent is unique and refreshing. Kellie Wallace is a spectacular writer who really knows how to immerse the reader into this world she has created. This book has everything from action to romance. This book definitely kept me on my toes.

Kellie Wallace has such a unique writing style. Instead of telling this book from one or two characters point of view, she uses multiple characters. While this seems like it might be confusing, I found that Kellie used this tool in a way that flowed organically and allowed the reader to get more pieces of the puzzle. She still has two main characters, but these other characters add something to the story that would've been missed otherwise. The way Kellie wrote this book had me playing out the scenes in my head like a movie. I really loved the multiple point of views.

The main characters are developed nicely. We meet Seth to begin with. We are immersed into his lifestyle and his view on life. He reveals a lot about the background and setting for the story. Through him, readers are able to see a huge character development happen before their eyes. Terra, the other main character, also goes through character development, but not as much as Seth in my opinion. Seth is truly the star of this book. Not only are the characters developing, but the world is as well. Through the actions of these two individuals, the world is changing. Whether it is a physical or perceived change, well it is up to the readers to decide.

This book has some heat, but in a different way than normal. This isn’t your typical romance novel with lots of sex. This book is more about the action, with the romance acting as a smaller plot. This means that the main focus is not on the romance, which is good in my opinion. I think this book has just enough of the romance in it to make my heart swoon, while not overdoing it and ruining the action of the book. With that being said, if you are looking for a book full of lots of heat, then this might not be the book for you.

I think what I loved the most about this book was the action and plot twists. I really felt that this book was unpredictable. Kellie did an amazing job at keeping the readers guessing. I am one that reads a lot of books so often times I feel like I can predict books based on how they begin or what the synopsis says about them. This book took many turns that surprised me. I loved how the focus was on the main plot with the action. I felt as if I was getting the adrenaline rush that the characters were getting. I kept turning the pages until I finished because I HAD to know what happened next.

In conclusion, this was one hell of a book. I would 100% recommend this to anyone who loves action and romance. This was the perfect book that gave readers just enough of both. Kellie created a world so unique and wonderful that I cannot wait to read more from her.  Kellie Wallace is a talented author to watch out for.
