Our Review
This Kitten’s got Curves is book three in the Shifter Date series. This book I feel is more similar to the first book in the series. With that being said, there are some slight differences that make this book unique. The author did a good job in keeping these books related, yet making them be able to stand out on their own.
The plot of This Kitten’s got Curves is very similar to the first book. Two characters meet through the app while one is reluctant to take it further, the other character tries his best to win her affections. Where this one differs is in both the characters and the way the story progresses. The main female character in this book is a shifter which leads to some wonderfully sinful scenes between her and the main male. There is also an underlying plot in each novel, which all contributes to a larger plot for the entire series. I am interested to see how this will play out in future books.
The characters of this book were developed, but not as much as I would have liked. Rachel has a past that has burned her and she is reluctant to move forward. Gareth has his own issues he needs to work through. Gareth is ready for a mate and the life that comes with it. His problem is that without a mate, he might lose his place in this pack. Each has their own motivations for joining the shifter app, but will their motivations change once they meet?
The heat in this book is magnanimous just like the last two. This author sure knows how to write some steamy scenes. These characters interact in a way that you can feel the attraction and sexual tension seeping from the pages. One thing you will never be missing from this author is heat and plenty of it.
While I loved the book, I had to express some of my dislikes. I felt this book, like the last, was rushed. I feel there could have been more content to really pull the readers in a bit better and make the book seem more cohesive. I also felt like the characters didn’t really have time to organically develop because of the strained timeline. With that being said, I really did enjoy the book and look forward to hearing more from this author.
Overall, this was a wonderfully written book. While it was a second book in part of a series, this book stood out on its own. This book had its own plot and direction and I am happy to see it did not feel like the first book rewritten with different characters as series often times do. I would recommend this book to family and friends.
