Review:

This was my most anticipated book of the year and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. If you are reading this review and you have not started Melissa Haags Judgement of six series, STOP NOW and go back and read the series it is truly amazing and without it a lot of this book might seem confusing. With that disclaimer out of the way, I absolutely LOVED THIS BOOK. Carlos has been my favorite character since we really got to meet him in Discontent. He always intrigued me before, but this book really made him come forth as my favorite book boyfriend.

The plot of this book follows along with Discontent and the series, but reveals more through the story. This book also has a little plot of its own. I don’t want to say much about it because I feel it reveals too much, but let me just say I was shocked! Truly shocked by what was going on in Carlos’s head. This man really has a lot going on and then to be able to add more to his plate with Isabelle, he is an inspiration. This plot shows that and that there is always more to a person than what is perceived by others.

This is when I usually talk about character development. In Discontent, we see minor character development with Carlos. This book really shows how much he keeps inside. He developed quite a bit without others noticing as much. What I hope others see from this book is that Carlos has a big heart and wants to do what is best for others over himself. I love this about him. I loved his interactions with Grey as well. It felt like Grey’s interactions with Thomas when he was younger. I truly feel Grey is a father figure to these wolves as an elder.

There is a lot of buildup in this book between these two characters. It is like a simmering relationship that is meant to explode. We can see minor explosions along the way, but in the end these two feed each other’s fire. Now with being in a guy’s mind, things are always a bit hotter than when reading it from a female’s point of view. I loved reading about how little things Isabelle did would torture Carlos. I think that this was wonderful.

I have always loved the writing style in these books. I actually really enjoy the single point of view. We get to read the story from one person’s point of view, then go back and read it from the mates point of view. I think it is important to know that while the timeline is similar, these companion book are truly their own books. While the bones of the plot remain similar, Carlos has such a unique point of view to add to the story. He also has some mystery to him that is revealed in this book. I think Melissa is amazing to be able to write pretty much the same book while making them seem like two different and entertaining books.

In conclusion, this will probably be my favorite book of the series. I know we still have one to go, but I just feel like Carlos is my soulmate. I felt like reading things from his point of view just made me fall in love with him even more. Gosh I just cannot get over him. I would 100% recommend this book to others and have already done so. I cannot wait for the last book in this series even though it will be bittersweet to see this magnificent series end.
