An epic Frenemies to lovers romance.
Luke Caldwell has three abhorrent qualities to him:
Luke Caldwell has three abhorrent qualities to him:
1) He’s a pig-headed jock.
2) He’s a grade A asshole with the biggest, overbearing ego.
3) He’s a manwhore.
These three qualities alone should’ve had me running for the hills. I tried to steer clear of him, I really did, but it was an impossible feat. Luke Caldwell was nothing if not persistent and the way he bulldozed through my life, not taking no for an answer is proof of it.
I tried to stay away from him.
I wanted to hate him. But I couldn’t.
Luke was nothing like the idiot jock I pegged him out to be. He became a friend, a confidant, and after one unforgettable night, he became so much more.
Whatever this is between us, it’s impossible to ignore. I just hope when all is said and done, I won’t be burned by the college bad boy.

Our Review:
Scoring the Quarterback was an amazing read. It had me laughing, smiling at the characters banter back and forth and some parts heart-warming.
This book is book two in the San Diegan series, but it can be read as a standalone! New-adult, College Sports contemporary romance is what I would categorize the genre. S.M. Soto is a new to me author and I look forward to reading more by her.
This book was a frenemies to lovers romance. I really enjoyed it as it was really entertaining. Such a page turner! The slow burn and the angst with having real emotion made this story intriguing.
I really liked the main characters. S.M. Soto nailed it with these two.
Natalie wasn’t your normal college girl. She reminded me so much of me with just wanting to worry about her grades and studying. She didn’t like the party scene. Reading about her childhood and how strong of a woman she is made me like her character even more.
Luke was the cocky football player who can have any girl he wants. When he sees Natalie for the first time he was attracted to her. She wasn’t like the other girls. The way he got on her nerves and the nicknames he called Natalie were stupidly cute.
Ok let me just say this, they had chemistry, and sparks between them and the heat doesn’t disappoint. You’ll need a shower to cool yourself off! ;) It was HOT!
The writing flowed nicely, which is nice and easy to read. It sucked me in and I didn’t want to stop, but being an adult I had to and put the book down when I could’ve just read it one sitting.
The only thing I would change is how she kept saying one of the side character’s name Gina or Georgina throughout the book it was sometimes confusing - I would just suggest using the full name or Gina.
So all in all, this book was a really great read. I am so glad I was able to read this. I will definitely want to read other books by this author. I’d highly recommend this book to others!
“Apparently, you made such a good impression with my mother that she’s been mapping out our future together.”
“The guy who has a smile that can light up a whole room, the guy with a great personality and an even better heart.”
