SERIES BLITZ
Courting Love – A College Sports Series
Author: Sierra Hill
Genre: Sports Romance/New Adult

This series was previously released as The Sweetest Thing Series. It has been rebranded and includes new covers and new titles under the new series name of Courting Love.

#1 FULL COURT PRESS

As a college basketball player, I don’t chase girls – they come to me. I’m the star athlete everyone wants a piece of, with skills on the court and in the sheets.
I get what I want, when I want it.
I’m unstoppable.
Until I meet Ainsley Locker.
She doesn’t play games but plays hard to get, seemingly resistant to my charm.
That’s okay because I like a good challenge.
And my plan is to go full-court-press to win her over and make her mine.
As long as I don’t foul out in the process.

OUR REVIEW:

 “Unlikely love, 3 stars”

Ainsley is one of those girls who has her life together. She works two jobs, takes care of her sister, and goes to school full time. Just thinking about everything she does makes me feel exhausted. When she meets Cade, she thinks he’s a typical rich boy acting out. But when she actually gets to know him, she finds out there is so much more to him.

Cade knows he’s had it good in life, but that doesn’t mean he takes advantage of it. He works hard, but plays hard as well. As a college basketball player, he has his pick of women, then he meets Ainsley and she wants nothing to do with him. Will he be able to convince her to give him a shot?

I liked Cade and Ainsley. The flow between these two was fluid. I loved Cade’s grandfather and the roll he played. I enjoyed how these two supported one another without question. With all the good said for some odd reason I just didn’t love the story. Its solid but I had no problems walking away from it. It good be me and the book funk I was in so if I were you, I would give it a shot. It may be your jam.

#2 THE REBOUND

He’s my older brother's friend and teammate. Off-limits, unavailable and forbidden.

There are times I wish I was someone other than the shy, geeky, college virgin that I am.
I also wish that my crush on Van Gerard wasn’t one sided and that he looked at me as something other than his best friend’s little sister.
But he’s firmly drawn the line in the friendship territory, even though there are times I think he might feel the same way about me. But then I remember that Van has a long-time girlfriend and we’re strictly in the friend zone.
But I want more.
So, when Van’s life is turned upside down, I’m there to comfort him. To break his fall. I’m his shoulder to cry on.
Even if he only considers me a rebound.

Our review:

 “friends to lovers 4 star”

Seriously from page one I liked where this story was going. I wanted Van and Kylah together like I want coffee in the morning. We learn Van has a girlfriend and it didn’t really sit well with me, but after a little bit I thought screw it, this could be a great one sided love story. Only to take that thought back a few pages later. Van and Kylah’s situation is realistic and I’m sure it happens more than we know.

Kylah wants Van like crazy, she will take him anyway she can have him. Even if it involves the awful title of friend. She's just the sweet girl most guys think of as a sister. All she wants is to be wanted and she wants to be wanted my Van.

Van has a long term girlfriend. He loves her even if she makes it incredibly difficult. Van has never been tempted to stray from Lyndsay, until Kylah. But it's something he would never act on right? Toss in Kylah’s brother is one of his best friends and its a relationship that will never happen.

When Lyndsay betrays Van in the worst possible way will Kylah become his rebound or his forever? Will the two be able to find their way to each other or are they destined to be apart?

The secondary characters are awesome. Kylah’s polar opposite twin Kady is a ball busting protector. Cade her older brother just wants her happy. Carver is a great friend to both Kylah and Van, and can I just say I cannot wait for his book.

Sweet Girl has a touch of sports (basketball) in the story, which I loved. I am a sucker for a good sports romance. But probably my favorite part of the story was Kylah’s transformation. She went from the awkward shy girl to a confident woman in her own skin.

Here are a few quotes that I liked from Sweet Girl;

“I would also be more than willing to learn how to make a voodoo doll and extol some harsh pain in Lyndsay’s keester.”

“Maybe I’m over-romanticizing this thing between us, but there is a deep connection we share – it’s been there like a magnetic pull since the first time I met her.”

#3 PIVOT

A young love. A bitter end. A crushing blow. A second chance at a first love.

The past four years have been all about playing college ball, getting a draft pick for the NBA, and steering clear of relationships. I don’t want one. Everything I once had I gave to another girl.
And lost it.
And I hate losing. There’s no way I’m going through that again.

But when a lay-up during a game landed me in need of medical attention, it brought me face-to-face with Logan Shaw – my first love – the girl who took it all and left me with nothing but regrets.

Now she’s back in my life and I have to face the consequences of our past actions.
Sometimes in life you’re forced to pivot and turn back before you can move forward in a new direction.

Our Review:

“Second chance, 4 stars”

Logan and Carver fell in love as young teens. They spent two weeks a summer together then spent the rest of the year apart. Then they fell apart due to miscommunication and deception. Now they are older and wiser. Will they be able to repair their relationship?

First off I love when a heroine has a “boy” name. Something about that just makes me happy. I genuinely liked Logan and Carver. I wanted them to work. Pivot focus’s more on the couple and less on the basketball because it doesn’t take place during season. Pivot is a little deeper and messier then the rest of the stories in the series and I enjoyed it. I hope you do too.

#4 FAST BREAK

She was in search of adventure. He was in search of home.
*A roommates-to-lovers, college sports romance*

My life is a complete and utter disaster. One major screw up after another. I couldn’t hack college and couldn’t return home, so I escaped to Europe for the summer, where I ran into some trouble.
Now I’m stuck in Florence, Italy with no money, no place to stay and no means of getting home.
Trouble finds me wherever I go.

Thankfully, my older brother, Cade, hooked me up with his old teammate. Now I’m staying with Gavin Lancaster, professional basketball player and my knight-in-shining-armor.

I never expected to make a fast break from reality and end up finding my home in him.

“Finding your person, 3 stars”

Kady is a disaster. But then again its easy to look like one when your brother and sister are next to perfect. This time though she’s found herself in a real jam and needs her brothers help. What she didn’t expect was Gavin, her brother’s friend’s brother. Will she be able to convince him to take a chance on her?

Gavin has been living it up playing ball in Europe. But now he needs to settle down and get his game back. Then Kady come’s into his life and is the worst kind of distraction. Will he be able to keep her at arm’s length or will he cave and hold onto her for dear life? Because one thing is for sure, vacations always have an end date and Kady’s is nearing.

I enjoyed these twos antics, but I didn’t love it. I wanted something more out of Fast Break but I can’t pinpoint what. If you take a chance on Fast Break I hope you enjoy it.

#5 JUMP SHOT

He’s fighting his demons. She’s fighting for his love.

Some lies are meant to deceive. Others to protect.
I’ve kept my secrets hidden only to protect the one girl I love the most – Mica Reyes. The one I want as more than just a friend.
But lies have a way of sabotaging your life and all they’ve done is pushed her away. Even when all I want to do is hold onto her for dear life.
Maybe I need to take a step back and let her go – like a fadeaway jump shot – before I hurt her and possibly destroy our love in the process.

Our Review:

“Caving into love, 4 stars”

Lance has wanted Mica since he met her, but she has a way of keeping him at arm’s length. Then he sees his opportunity to spend more time with her. Will he get what he wants or will he get more than he bargained for? One thing is for sure, its full speed ahead for him.

Mica has always wanted Lance but she knows she can’t have him. He’s white and she comes from a very traditional Hispanic family. There will be no happy ending for them so what’s the point? But we all know that after a while your bound to slip up.

Mica and Lance are probably my favorite couple in this series. They just clicked. He is willing to do whatever he needs to in order to be with her. At the same time the story has a deeper element to it. Lance is a messy hero. I liked that he wasn’t as perfect as Mica thought. With all the good out of the way there was just something missing from the story for me. I found it easy to set down. And I really struggled with how her family went from hating Lance to accepting him when the why is still kind of unknown to me. Maybe I struggled because of my book funk, who knows.
