REVIEW - Consumed By You - Lauren Blakely

TITLE - Consumed by You

AUTHOR - Lauren Blakely

Synopsis:

She's playing with fire...

Dog trainer Cara Bailey wants to find "the one," but fantasizing about her sexy-as-hell client, firefighter Travis Jansen, is getting in the way. Her only option? Get the confirmed bachelor out of her system-in every position possible-so she can settle down with Mr. Right. Starting right now.

Travis doesn't do relationships, so no matter how badly he wants the pretty little brunette, he keeps his distance. Until Cara goes and changes the game. She'll fulfill all of his fantasies if he agrees to walk away when it's over. But when the wildfire between them blazes out of control, it will consume everything-and everyone-in its path...

My Review:

*contains spoilers*

We never know when we are going to meet the person we are supposed to spend the rest of our lives with. Sometimes we don't realize they are our soul mate the first time around.
This book is all about that. If you want a book about two people coming together, training four legged companions, and witty humor this is definitely a book for you.

Cara and Travis went to high school together. They dated for a time their senior year until they went to college. Once fall came they went their separate ways. Now years later they are back living in the same town.

Cara is a dog trainer. She's always loved animals and has dedicated her life to them. She's at a point now in her life that she's ready to settle down. Cara wants the white picket fence, ring, husband, kids, basically the whole shebang.
Cara has gone out with a lot of great guys, but she has a problem. She can't get Travis out of her system. He is solely responsible for the best sex she's ever experienced and she can't stop imagining him naked. Her solution is to screw him out of her system...literally.

Travis is a firefighting poker player who has always had feelings for Cara. Only problem is Travis doesn't believe in commitment. He doesn't want a long term serious relationship. When his father died in the line of duty he saw what happened to his mother. When her husband died she went through years of depression. Causing Travis to declare never to fall in love in hopes of never feeling that kind of loss. Which I get, it's hard watching someone you care/love grieve.

When Cara comes to Travis with a proposition to have a physical relationship he jumps on it. Only problem with Cara and Travis is, somehow they miss that they fall for each other during their time together. Yet it's obvious to everyone close to them. Question is can Travis finally fold and admit to her he loves her back?

Sometimes our moms have to help us even when we're grown adults and point out the faults in our beliefs. Sometimes even our friends try to step in and push us in the right direction.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from this story:

“We fucking fit perfectly, don't we?”

“You want to get me out of your system, but maybe I need you out of mine, too. Sometimes it'll be fast, sometimes it'll be hard, sometimes rough, and sometimes it'll be like this.”

“Translation: You mean you were going to spend the night with Cara and now you're not, probably because you said something stupid.”

“It means, young man, that it has not gone unnoticed for the last ten years that you've been in love with one girl.”
