REVIEW - Dirty Deeds (Dirty Angels #2) - Karina Halle

TITLE - Dirty Deeds

AUTHOR - Karina Halle

Synopsis:

“He’s fearless and ruthless. Soulless.”

As a flight attendant, Alana Bernal has had her share of suitors. She's also had more than her fair share of tragedy within her messed-up family. But what she hasn't had is love. Real, rip-your-heart-out, tear-your-clothes-off, all-consuming love.

At least that was the case until she met an American tourist, Derek Conway, a ripped ex-soldier with steely eyes and a commanding presence.

What started as a chance encounter between the two in Puerto Vallarta, a weekend full of hot sex and mindless passion, has led to something more.

Something deadly.

Because Derek isn't the type of man to fall in love. He's not a man who sticks around.

And he's definitely not in Mexico on vacation.

Derek is a mercenary, a killer-for-hire, a man who does the ugly jobs for the highest bidder.

Unfortunately for Alana and Derek, the highest bidder has the power to destroy whatever worlds they have created for themselves.

The highest bidder can destroy everything.

*This is a romantic suspense book, #2 in the Dirty Angels trilogy but can be read as a standalone novel*

My Thoughts:

Dirty Deeds is the second book in the Dirty Angels series by Karina Halle, and apparently can be read as a standalone. Personally I wouldn't. I think you need to have read Dirty Angels, to be able to fully appreciate the bigger picture on this series. Especially as book 3 is out very soon, and concludes both the storylines of Book 1 and Book 2, and how they all mix in together.

So anyway, onwards. Dirty Deeds is the story of Alana Bernal, a gorgeous Mexican flight attendant, who would not have much to complain or worry about in life, except for her family and their past, and all the nightmares that still trouble her.
So she spends most of her time going between flights, and having fun when not working. Until one day everything changes. She meets American tourist Derek Conway. He is gorgeous, and totally ripped, and obviously has an awful lot of secrets. He also shows up under curious timing.

So I can't really say too much in my summary, as it will spoil too much of the overall story of this book. I didn't feel this book was as gripping, as dark, or as addictive as Dirty Angels, but it was still an edgy, gritty and fantastic story.

Alana and Derek have a sizzling amount of chemistry between them, nearly as much as the secrets between them. But having read the book before this, I knew a lot of what was going on, and felt far more informed on the secrets and background.

The writing style was as addictive, as it was in Dirty Angels, and I felt hooked on the characters and the world in which they all lived in.
I can't wait to read the final book in this trilogy, and would definitely recommend both books in this series, if you love cartels, a bit of blood, hot sex, and secrets and lies. Totally gripping!!
