REVIEW - The Moment Of Letting Go - J.A. Redmerski

TITLE - The Moment Of Letting Go

AUTHOR - J.A. Redmerski

Synopsis:

You can follow the rules or you can follow your heart...THE MOMENT OF LETTING GO

Sienna Murphy never does anything without a plan. And so far her plans have been working. Right after college, she got a prestigious job and gained the stability she'd always craved-until work takes her to the sun-drenched shores of Oahu and places her in the path of sexy surfer Luke Everett. For the first time, she lets her heart take control. Drawn to his carefree charm, she makes a spontaneous and very un-Sienna-like decision to drop everything and stay in Hawaii for two more weeks.

Luke lives fast and wild. When he meets Sienna, he's convinced that some no-strings-attached fun is just what she needs. As their nights quickly turn from playful to passionate, Luke can't deny the deep connection he feels. But there's a reason Luke doesn't do long-term. He can't promise Sienna forever, when the enormity of his past has shown him just how fragile the future can be . . .

My Review:

I was so unbelievably excited to get the chance to read an ARC of this book. J.A. Redmerski is one of my favourite authors, and yes I usually love her darker grittier stories, but her writing is so addictive and powerful, that I still wanted to jump on this book as soon as I saw it.

So this time we have a New Adult romance, a more light hearted story. Sienna Murphy is beautiful and determined. She is completely focused on her career, and never having to live her adult life without money, like she did when she was young. Although her parents loved her very much, they didn't have a lot of money, and had to sacrifice time together to work, and make ends meet. So Sienna has always made sure she worked hard, to earn a decent wage, and to take care of her parents. This meant her having to sacrifice her dreams of photography. Her true love is being behind a lens, capturing places and lives. But she doesn't dwell on it, she just works harder.

Until one day she realises what she has sacrificed. She has to go away with work to Hawaii, and only has a couple of days, not even vacations days, no time to take photos, no time to explore, and in this beautiful place she realises she is perhaps not as happy with her life, as she thought. It certainly didn't help, meeting the gorgeous and free spirited Luke Everett. In the brief time she has, Luke already makes her realise she wants more in life. And starts to question, what if?
Through a split decision, Sienna makes the drastic choice to stay. 3 days, no work. Luke will show her what she is missing in life.

Although it seems like a story where it's straight forward, an easy read with no drastic storylines, angst or drama. It is anything but. It was beautiful and eye opening. Nothing like I expected. As always the writing style of J.A. Redmerski is what pulled me in, but the story she told was captivating and beautiful. I went from sighing at the background, to falling in love with luke, to welling up at the painful circumstances of the characters background. There was so much to take in, and it was really emotional.

A side of this story, that I didn't expect, and knew absolutely nothing about, is BASE jumping. Yes, I knew what it was, but not a lot about it. The details given to create this story, involving this topic were incredible. And left me thinking about everything long after it was finished.

Again, I have to mention the emotional side of this book. I can remember reading The Edge of Never, and the tears that followed that book. This book was just the same, be prepared to grab some tissues. But the outcome and ending of this book was perfection. It took a while to get there, but I loved every minute of it. And I now officially want to go and live in Hawaii!!

A beautiful, captivating tale of finding yourself for the first time, or again after tragedy. And of falling in to the deepest love, and fighting the hurdles. Perfect love story.
