Our Reviews:

Only with you is book 4 in the Connor Family Series and I have not previously read books 1-3 in the series, luckily it didn’t matter and I found myself falling more and more in love with these 2 characters.

Val and Carter live very busy lives, both dedicated to their jobs. When Carter takes on custody of his nieces his life is full but still feels those empty moments; wanting to find someone to share the highs and lows with. When you continuously have bad luck in the dating department you start to doubt everything, when Val meets Carter its almost too good to be true; Falling in love was easy for these 2.

This is the first time I have read a Layla Hagen novel and I can tell you right now that she has caught me, hook line and sinker. I got to about 50% of this book and smiled to myself thinking this is just one of those amazing happy books that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I without a doubt will be going back and reading books 1-3 and hope that there is more in store for this series.

“Love in a coffee shop, 5 stars”

Val loves love and has always tried to find her one. But in all honesty its kind of exhausting when you keep getting it wrong. Then she meets Carter in a coffee shop. He gives her all the flirty banter she can handle, and she can’t help but want a little more from him. Will she push too much?

Carter has his hands full between work and taking care of his nieces but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel the loneliness set in at night. When he meets Val something about her calls to him. Will he be able to convince her to take a chance on him? Will his life style be too much for her?

I absolutely loved Val and Carter. Once they were together, they were together. The only way they had problems was due to lack of communication. I loved what both of their families added to the story. It was just a sweet romance and honestly, they met in a coffee shop. That would be the perfect meet-cute for me if I wasn’t already madly in love with my husband. Lol

I cannot wait to see who Hagen writes next in the Connor family.

“Waking back up, 5 stars”

Castiel has basically been asleep since his divorce, or not living. He’s just going through the motions. He thought he had it all once upon a time but found out otherwise. Castiel never wants to go back to the unknown. Then Turner comes roaring into his life. She’s chaos and life everything he claims he doesn’t want but can’t stay away from. 

Turner used to be unhappy, but now she’s got everything she needs. Castiel intrigues her but he’s not interested..until he is. Will she be able to convince him to give her a chance? What will happen when crud hits the fan? Will he be by her side when she needs him, or will he run?

Keep it Classy has all the Bear Bottom feel to it. I love where Vale has taken this series. With Keep it Classy its different then the other books, it has kind of a sadder tone to it. It reminds you that even through the darkest times there is light. I loved it and loved how these two worked together. I hope you enjoy Keep it Classy.

Remington is a single dad who is just realizing he needs more help than he has. When he met Ruby, he was instantly attracted to her but realized they could help each other out. He gave her a job in hopes it would turn into more. What he didn’t realize was he and his daughter would fall in love with her. Will he be able to convince her to give him a real shot?

Ruby wanted a different life but never went after it. Now she’s at a cross roads and trying to decide on what to do. When Remington offers her a job, she knows it’s a bad idea, but she can’t help but jump on the opportunity he’s throwing her way. Will she be able to keep herself from falling in love with her boss and his daughter? Only one way to find out.

I enjoyed Remington and Ruby. They were adorable. The mix of people in the story was awesome. There was always something going on. I loved that Ruby saw a younger version of herself in Remington’s daughter. Remington accepted her with no questions asked and it was just an easy read.

“New series same humor, 5 stars”

Some days it feels like Ellie and Wyatt have always been at war since they were younger. He was the typical older brother’s best friend. They have mastered the art of verbal foreplay before they even realized it. She didn’t know he was going to be in town during her best friend’s wedding and he scared off her fake date, now she finds herself flirting with her frenemy. But will the flirting turn into more?

Wyatt has always loved that Ellie gives it all back as much as he dishes. She’s the only one in his life who has never held back from him. One night their relationship changed and its changing once again. How much can things change in a week? One thing is for sure though, no matter how much he loves spending time with Ellie, he’s in town for his son. Will he be able to keep his priorities straight or will he make space for both of them?

Grant gives us humor, pirates, and bad luck in Flirting with the Frenemy. One thing is for sure Grant never disappoints when I need a book to make me laugh. I got a kick out of Ellie, Wyatt and everyone surrounding them. I cannot wait to see where the rest of the series goes and who’s next.

Erin's Review:

Flirting with the Frenemy is the first in a new series by Pippa Grant. While a new series, there are elements that connect to previous books, though we see all new characters. As you can guess, our main characters are enemies; she's the little sister to his best friend. I was excited for a new Pippa Grant book-she's one of my favorite authors!

This book differs from many of Ms. Grant's in that we get to sneak peeks at many time period's in the characters lives to get a feel for them at different stages in their journey and underlying motivations. Besides the obvious enemies to lovers aspect, we see the book tell the story of amazing personal struggles and growth, and of great friends and the power of love and laughter. I enjoyed the quirky characters that are a Pippa Grant trademark, along with the off beat town setting. 

I loved the blurb about this book, but while it was entertaining it didn't give away much about our characters. Maybe since it's the first in the series, so we hadn't met them in previous books. There was so much unknown going in! Ellie is our female lead who has known Wyatt since childhood, when they annoyed each other for fun. They reconnected on Christmas over crappy life situations; culminating in Ellie's life being changed forever. Now Ellie is floundering and in need of the fake boyfriend. Wyatt is a single dad who is loyal and strong and fiercely protective but highly motivating to those around him. I liked their characters individually, and as a couple. There were a lot of secondary characters to keep track of with townsfolk, family, and exes; while I know they all played roles in the main story and I'm sure we'll see them all again in future books, it was a cit confusing and jumbled for this book.

It wouldn't be a Pippa Grant book without searing heat between our leads. Ellie and Wyatt just have a few chaotic issues with their chemistry. Their first night is both a pity sex and the culmination of years of lusting after each other. Coming back together later is a renewal of lust combined with both being in a new headspace about their lives. And while tragedy seems to strike every time they come together, they don't actually burn the house down (just the metaphorical sheets).

The book was very evenly paced. I didn't get sucked in like I did with most of Ms. Grant's work though. I liked all the characters, situations, and settings; though there were a lot of small details to process, all of which were important to this book -or will be to a future book I'm sure! 

I'm still not sure how I feel about this book. It is not one of my favorite Pippa Grant books (Charming as Puck) but it is a solid addition to her work. I liked how the characters worked to overcome situations, I liked the dialogue, I liked the comedy, the families, the exes, the kiddo, the goats, the pirates...but it just wasn't my favorite. But maybe it will be yours!

Our Review:

Before anything else if you have triggers, I would recommend that you consider reading this book, the list is long of subjects that could affect you; having no triggers myself I still felt taken back by this story. 

This story is written in 2 parts, Ryder and Zeta meet in Juvie and have an instant connection, their love is real and raw. When Ryder has done his time, he starts to build a life for them awaiting Zeta’s conviction to be turned over. When Ryder’s past comes back to haunt him, he is left with no choice but to leave and protect his one true love leaving a devastated Zeta behind. 8 years later they cross paths head on; Zeta and Ryder are forced to face the facts and they lay everything out on the table bringing a huge truth to the table which endangers everything he has built. Will Ryder lose everything in the blink of an eye?

Davis is a favourite author of mine, she is raw and her stories are written to perfection; This story has knocked me for six. After the prologue I was unsure whether I could continue reading; storylines of this nature are not something I enjoy reading and brought a dark cloud over the book.

I can’t deny this woman a damn thing.

So I climb onto the bed. The mattress dipping beneath my weight as I crawl to Gracie on my hands and knees.

OUR REVIEW:

“A southern romance, 3.5 stars”

Luke is as southern as a boy from the Carolina’s can get. He’s a retired pro-baseball player who has returned to his roots of farming. He loves his life. But when he finds out that his best friend’s sister Gracie is single, he decides to make a move. Will he be able to get the girl?

Grace is a busy woman. Her professional life is thriving but her personal life is stagnant. After a conversation with Luke she gets a brilliant idea to spend some time with him in the bedroom but not be in a relationship with him. Is the woman who is a serious monogamous capable of a no strings relationship? Will Luke be willing to compromise what he wants?

I enjoyed the chemistry between Luke and Grace. They were different and yet the same. There were little things about the book that I didn’t care for, like a few sayings that seriously baffled me. But the main thing I had an issue with was Luke and his insecurities about the difference in his and Grace’s worlds. I’m sorry but a guy who played professional ball would not be that insecure around people who have money. Because of this stuff is why it’s a 3.5 stars. Its not an awesome story but it's not a bad one.
