Book Blurb:

He’s known as Father Anton to his teammates—the brooding, sexy captain of the NHL’s Chicago Blaze has a reputation for…not having a reputation. Just like his diet and sleep routines, celibacy is part of Anton Petrov’s on-ice mojo. Or so they say. Anton stays mum on the subject. If the world thinks he chooses to abstain from sex, so be it. Better that than the truth getting out: there is a woman he burns for, but he can never have her. She’s his teammate’s wife, after all.

Mia Marceau is finally on her own. Now that she and her husband are living apart, she’s finding the peace she was desperate for. She spends her days in classes and late nights bartending, making her own way in the world at last. After what she’s been through, as long as her husband leaves her alone, she doesn’t plan to rock the boat. He still has the power to hurt those dearest to her, and she can’t demand a divorce with such a high cost.

A chance encounter with Mia has Anton hoping for a shot he never thought he’d get. And while she’s drawn to the intense, serious hockey center, Mia’s leery about playing with fire. That’s all Anton has ever known for Mia, though—a living, burning desire that won’t be denied—no matter the cost.

Louise's Review:

Anton has found the one he wants, too bad she is married, to make matters worse married to his team mate who doesn’t appreciate her; When a chance encounter brings them together truths are told and Anton has faith that one day that Mia might be his. When everything comes to light can Anton keep his team and the press from hounding him and will Mia be able to fulfil her dreams which are so close, she can almost grab them.

I enjoyed the plot but felt that in some aspect this story fell short for me I just couldn’t get into the story, Uncle Dix was a highlight throughout and kept the laughs coming also bringing me tears; he was a fantastic minor character.

This was my first book by Rothert and I enjoyed the dual POV throughout, while personally this book wasn’t the story for me, I don’t doubt it could be for someone else.

Johnaka's Review:

“Is she really taken? 3 stars”

Mia made a mistake when she married Adam and now, she’s working her way out of it. He made her life he ll. When Anton her former husbands team captain finds his way into her bar will she be able to keep the truth about her and Adam secret any longer? Anton is everything Adam isn’t which only leads to confusion. Will she be able to keep her feelings separate?

Anton has wanted Mia from day one. He’s watched and loathed the way her husband treats their marriage vows for far too long. When he finds Mia working at a bar and discovers the truth, he cant help but move things a little further along. Will Mia get on the same page with him? And will being with Mia be better or worse than her ever thought possible?

I genuinely liked the concept of Anton. I liked how neither Mia or Anton wavered on her marriage vows even though they were long since over. But aside from that Anton fell flat for me. The characters were great I just couldn’t get into the story. I recently read another hockey book about a player with the same name as Anton and I honestly thought about it the whole time which totally took away from the story for me. If you take a chance on Anton, I hope you enjoy it.

Release Blitz & Reviews - Crazy Beautiful Love - K.L. Grayson

Title: Crazy Beautiful Love

A Dirty Dicks Standalone Novel
Author: K.L. Grayson
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 31, 2019

Blurb

There’s
a fine line between love and hate…

Tess Walker is game for anything—except
world-renowned photographer Beau Allen, the guy who inadvertently sent her life
into a downward spiral. It has taken Tess years to find herself and become a
person she can be proud of. Now Beau is back and making a play for her heart…a
play she’s not sure she wants him to make. The more he pushes, the more her
walls crumble, and Tess soon discovers that his sweet kisses and even sweeter
words might be just what she’s been looking for in life.

And
Tess Walker hates Beau Allen…

Beau Allen has it all: loving family,
plentiful friends, and a job that sends him all over the world. What he doesn’t
have is a home—or a reason to make one. Living out of a suitcase isn’t ideal,
but he’s perfectly content. That is, until a beautiful woman barrels her way
into his life and has him second-guessing everything. Tess is nothing like the
women he’s used to and everything like the woman he wants. Grounded, strong,
funny, sweet, and sexy. Did he mention sexy? Her curves make it hard for him to
think, and his life’s mission soon becomes making her laugh and sigh and moan,
because he really likes it when she moans. But Beau isn’t used to sticking
around. Still, he’s hoping she’ll give him a reason to stay.

Doesn’t
she?

Our Reviews:

Johnaka's Review:

“Unperfect picture, 4 stars”

Tess is trying to start over in her life. She’s been trying her hardest to keep her head above water, but life has a way of beating her down. Will she let it sweep her away or will she keep fighting back? Then Beau comes back to town. Will he remember her?

Beau didn’t realize how much he had missed while he was away with work. He’s constantly on the road and documenting other people’s lives, but what about his life? Is he letting it pass him by? What about the lives of his family, does he even know what’s going on there? And mostly why does Tess make him feel more?

There is no denying that these two were drawn to each other. It was just a matter of caving into their desires. Both Tess and Beau are used to being alone and keeping others at arm’s length but with each other they want more. Its just a question of will they give in. I enjoyed Crazy Beautiful Love, the only reason for a 4 star was because at times I felt like it went a little slow. In the beginning. Even with that said it was a good book.

Louise's Review:

Crazy Beautiful Love is the 3rd book in the Dirty Dicks series, this is my first-time reading Grayson and I will be going back and read more.

Tess is hiding who true identity, with her unsavoury background she wanted a fresh start when she moved back; years of holding her head above water she finally crumbles when Beau returns home.

Travelling around the world taking pictures and making a name for himself Beau has missed out on a lot of things and being part of his family was top of that list. Finding out who Tess really is doesn’t change a thing in his mind, they have an intense attraction to each other bringing out feelings they have never felt before. When Beau receives a phone call with a once in a life time opportunity will he go and do what he loves or stay and be the new love in his life?

I personally enjoyed this book, while it was a little slow in the beginning Grayson’s writing intensified throughout keeping me hooked and finishing in one sitting. The minor characters were great on their own and I can’t wait to go back to the beginning of the series and learn their stories. I look forward to book 4, Crazy Messy Love.

Release Blitz & Review - The Break-up Bet - Cat Carmine

Title: The Break-Up Bet
Author: Cat Carmine
Genre: Standalone Romantic Comedy
Release Date: January 31, 2019

Blurb

Never make a bet with a man who plays to win...

Especially not a man like handsome, arrogant Connor Pratt.

AKA the huge PITA who’s currently crashing in my spare room.

AKA my brother’s best friend since they were about six.

AKA the one guy who still makes me feel like an awkward tongue-tied loser.

But when Connor moved in, I got a glimpse of another side of him. Because, like me, Connor’s going through a nasty break-up. And, like me, he’s just doing whatever he can to get through it.

Unfortunately, his method involves drinking alarming amounts of whiskey and watching a lot of, um … movies … that make every inch of my skin flush.

I’m just trying to be helpful when I tell him that he should try my way: copious amounts of baked goods, sappy romantic comedies, and late nights spent whining with girlfriends.

But I should have known Connor would take that as a challenge.

Now, he says he’ll try my way of dealing with a break-up … but only if I agree to try his. Six months rent to the person whose method works best.

We call it the break-up bet. And I’m going to win. Except right now, it feels like there’s a whole lot more at stake than just rent money…

OUR REVIEWS:

Johnaka's Review:

“Guys vs. Girls, 5 stars”

Lucy is getting over the break-up between her ex of three years and herself. She thought they were going forward but apparently, she was wrong. When her brother’s best friend Connor needs a place to live, she takes him on as a roommate. Together they concoct the break-up bet. Who gets over a break up the best? The guy way or the girl way? What Lucy didn’t expect was for those old feelings for Connor to come back up.

Connor had a thing for Lucy when she was younger, but age and distance kept them apart. Now he’s learning the differences between kid Lucy and adult. What Connor didn’t expect was him developing feelings for her. Will he be able to abide by bro-code or will he break it for Lucy?

Holy guacamole, the heat/foreplay between these two was hot. I wanted them together like crazy. Carmine is a new to me author and you can bet your butt that I plan on reading more of her work.

Jennifer's Review:

Holy Hot Goodness! If you are looking for a heart-warming romantic comedy, then The Break-up Bet is what you need in your life. This book will make you laugh and cry but will also make your cheeks blush. I really enjoyed this book.

The plot of this book is good. I mean come on. A bet between roommates. Roommates of the opposite sex. Roommates with history and are attracted to each other? There is no way this could go wrong. Hear my sarcasm there? This plot drew me in and kept me wanting more. If you love indulging in romantic comedy movies in your free time, then you will love the feel of this book.

Lucy is in a place we have all been before. Nursing herself back to health after a particularly rough break up. I loved her strength throughout this book. While dwelling on a break-up can be unhealthy, it can also be just what you need. I loved that she allowed herself to feel what she felt. Then there is Connor. I loved his flirty banter and carefree personality. I really enjoyed his caring heart. He was a great character.

Heat. Oh my goodness the heat. I have to say this book has the HOTTEST scene I think I have read in my life. Seriously. Like holy heck the chemistry and heat between these characters is off the charts. I am telling you now you need to read this book for one scene and one scene only. The hottest scene ever. Seriously.

The writing style of this book is good. The pace of the story is steady. The story is told from dual point of views. This story had me enamoured from the beginning. I mean I could not put this book down. I really enjoyed the other characters in the book. I also really loved that Lucy is a baker. I felt a kinship of sorts because I am also a baker.

In conclusion, this is an author to keep an eye on. I will undoubtedly be recommending this book to others. I will also be trying some other books by this author. I mean with writing like this, I can see this author easily becoming a favorite.

Release Blast & Review - Falling for the Cowboy - Kennedy Fox

Never trust a man who wears nothing more than a cowboy hat and ripped jeans who asks if you’d like to save a horse and ride a . . . well, you get the picture.

That should’ve been enough for me to walk away.

I’ve been warned on several occasions about southern men—with their sexy accents, charming manners, and the ability to easily get any woman in bed—which is something I’ll be avoiding.

Being a professional photographer has many perks—traveling around the world, calling all the shots, and working with subject matter that isn’t bad to look at—but Colton Langston with his washboard abs and baby blue eyes, could care less about my current project. He’s trouble, I know it, and he’s determined to make me work for every single photo. When I’m forced into riding lessons, I get way more than I ever bargained for, and by the time my trip is over, I’m in too deep.

Being with him was thrilling, but falling for him was unpredictable.
And ignoring him will be impossible.

 OUR REVIEW:

"book blogger falling in love, 4 stars"

Colton has been burned and it left a bad taste in his mouth. He’s one of the good guys and not a player, he may flirt but that’s where it ends for the most part. Then he lays eyes on a redhead staying at the B&B. Granted their meet-cute wasn’t the best, but he will make it work. He knows Presley isn’t going to stick around but what if he can change her mind?

Presley is a no-mad who travels a lot for work. She’s a photographer for all things book related. She took a trip to Texas to take photos for a cowboy romance release. What she didn’t expect was to develop feelings for Colton. Will he be the one to make her change her mind about setting down roots?

These two were adorable. There were times I couldn’t help but laugh at their antics. The story was sweet, and I loved that Presley was in the book world. The only thing is for me it didn’t feel like a cowboy romance, but that could just be me. I hope you enjoy Falling for the Cowboy.

Excerpt

“Are you sure?” Because she isn’t acting like it.
“Yeah, this will solve the questioning.” That doesn’t sound
so great.
I rock back on my heels. “About?”
Splotches of red stain her cheeks. “Ah, well... if this,”
she motions between us, “was heading in a romantic direction.”
I feel the blood drain from my face. “What do you mean?”
“If we’re living together, the potential of us dating is
zippo. We’ll be roommates and friends, but that’s all. Otherwise it will be
awkward and tense and blah. No, thanks. Setting this boundary will cut out the
possibility.”
I choke on the brick lodged in my throat. “Wait, what?”
“Can you imagine the mess we’d be stuck in if things went
sour? Better to not chance it, right?”
No.
No, no, no.
I blink slowly, trying to process her words. Is this an
unwritten rule I wasn’t aware of? And what, now I’m trapped in the friend-zone?
I avert my eyes, glaring at a neon sign stuck to the far wall. An outcome that
doesn’t involve us as a couple seems impossible. I rapidly search for a
counter-argument, begging for a way out of this mess.
What the hell happens now?

OUR REVIEW:

Friends to lovers? Lass is something I have been waiting on. After reading the first two books in this series, I knew I had to know what would happen with dear old Addison. I mean she is everyone’s favorite friend. This book has everything it needs to be a great romance.

The plot of this book was good. I mean it does include two people of opposite sex becoming roommates. Add in the fact that one has so clearly had a crush on the other. I mean what harm could possibly come from this? This book is sure to either warm your heart or break it. Are you willing the take the risk?

Addison is one of my favorite characters. She is fun and loving, but also has an inner sweetness to her. I won’t lie and say I didn’t want to smack her a couple of times, but overall I like her. Shane is a sweet character. I think that is what initially gets him friend-zoned. I really liked getting to know another side to him. The side that made me want to take him as my boyfriend.

I liked the heat in this book. These two characters have a chemistry that is small, but enough to start a fire. I mean anytime you have two people in a situation in which they have to agree to be platonic, you know they won’t stay platonic. I liked watching these two together.

The writing style of this story is good. I liked the pace of the story. The story is told from a dual point of view. I really liked the minor characters in the book. This world the author created makes me want to keep coming back for more!

In conclusion, I loved this book. These characters are like my friends. I want to just wrap them up in a happy little bubble and keep them that way. I would recommend this book to others. I think that this is perfect for anyone looking for a romance novel with depth.

Release Blitz & Review - Everything's Better With Kimberly - Lucy Eden

Title: Everything's Better with Kimberly
Author: Lucy Eden
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 31, 2019

Blurb

Kimberly Simmons is gorgeous, brilliant, and way out of my league. She’s definitely not the type to fall for a guy who walked away from his family's fortune to become an architect. Good thing, too, because she works for Wolfe Industries, making her completely off-limits. Nailing this pitch to Wolfe’s CEO is exactly what I need to make my bosses forget about the last time I mixed business with pleasure.
Too bad she has the most beautiful brown eyes and dazzling smile I’ve ever seen. Too bad I can’t stop staring.

Adam Price is a talented rising star architect at Will and Peking Designs. His newest design submission for The Wolfe Industries Caribbean Expansion is set to dazzle my CEO. If Adam's design wins, with my help, I could get promoted, which means his big strong arms and gorgeous lips are strictly forbidden. It’s a good thing, too, because he has a reputation for leaving a trail of broken hearts all over Manhattan and I’m pretty sure I couldn't survive a second heartbreak.
Too bad every word he says makes me smile. Too bad he gives me a sense of calm I haven't felt in a long time.

Keeping their relationship strictly professional for the sake of their jobs was the perfect excuse to stay away from each other. Too bad fate and undeniable chemistry have other plans…

This standalone, workplace/forced proximity romance features characters from the previous novellas Everything’s Better With You and Cherishing the Goddess, is full of alphas and steam, and has NO cheating.

“I’m sorry to interrupt you, but are you Adam Price?” It was
his turn to be shocked and he smiled again.
“I am. How did you know that?”
The Man-Whore. I was sitting next to the Man-Whore.
Just a guess.” I shrugged.
“Well, I assume from your sudden change of expression, my
reputation precedes me.”
My poker face needed some serious work. I tried to plaster
on a professional smile. “You studied architecture at The Pratt Institute for
both undergrad and grad school. You’ve worked on an impressive number of
international projects before becoming the youngest senior architect at Will
and Peking Design. Now, you’re on your way to Barbados to pitch WP for a
hospitality project for Wolfe Industries.”
“That’s pretty impressive and spot on.” He nodded
appreciatively. “Who are you?”
“Thanks,” I said with a nod, feeling like I’d dodged a very
uncomfortable bullet. “I’m Kimberly Simmons. I work for Wolfe. I’ll be working
with you on the pitch.”

Our Review:

“Is it a fling or so much more? 5 stars”

Kimberly is all work and no play. She’s hoping it's about to pay off too, if she can clinch this deal then hopefully, she can get the promotion she wants. What she didn’t plan on was meeting Adam. Will she let him in or will she keep him at arm’s length?

Adam is trying to get his career back on track after some horrible in office relationships. What he didn’t expect was to meet Kimberly who he is now supposed to work with. His feelings for her are more than friendly though. Will he be able to convince her that he’s worth the risk?

I really did like these two. They fell hard and fast, but both had obstacles they needed to jump over before being together. I love how Adam was with Kimberly and accepting of her anxiety and her needs. At the same time Kimberly saw Adam for who he really was, and I love it. If you are looking for a sweet romance that is quick paced, then this may be with one for you.
