REVIEW - Torn Between Two- Mia Kayla

Torn Between Two: The Torn Duet by [Kayla, Mia]

Title: Torn Between Two

Author: Mia Kayla

Blurb:
I believe in fairy tales — the kind where a knight in shining armor sweeps me off my feet. Coming from a broken home, fairy tales housed the hope I clung to. Never in my life did I imagine two knights coming into my life— two knights that wore very different armor.

A rockstar versus a lawyer.
Fast and furious versus deliberate and calculated.
Intense and passionate versus strong and devoted.
Chaos versus stability.

I fell in love with one in the craziness of a concert.
I fell in love with the other in the silence of his compassion.

And now I am Torn Between Two.

Book 2 Choosing Forever releases February 13, 2017.
*Due to descriptive sexual situations and mature themes, this novel is not intended for readers under the age of 18.*

Review:
Wow! What the heck did I just read? Based on the blurb of this book, I expected a completely different book than I just read. Trust me, this is a good thing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the second book. My only disclaimer for readers is that there is a huge cliffhanger at the end.

The plot of this book is one that I feel has been over done to the point that you just know what's going to happen. This book was refreshing because you didn't really know what was going to happen next. There is a love triangle but it is done in a realistic way that readers can get behind. I think the plot was done well.

The characters is where it is at! What is it you ask? The story! Man these characters are dynamic. Samantha is our main female characters. I really liked her for the most part. She's sassy and down to earth. We have two male characters competing for her attention. Hawke, the hot as sin rockstar, and Josh, the boy next door. The way the author writes makes both of these men seem like the obvious choice for Samantha. I am probably in the minority when I say my choice would be Josh in a heartbeat. By the end of the book we still don't really know the outcome, but the second book promises to conclude the story.

There is two different types of heat in this story. Of course there is hot and sexy sex scenes. These are written very well. The heat I love most is the chemistry between characters. I love that there is also that build up of intimacy between the characters that allows the readers to really invest in th characters.

This author tells this story from a single point of view, which is Samantha's. It leaves us in the dark about the other characters thoughts and actions when Samantha is not present. I really don't mind this point of view. The only complaint I have from this story is that I felt like parts were missing. There are some time jumps that made me feel that we missed something. I also would've liked to see Chloe more. I just feel there was one major plot with two minor plots that made the story feel a bit crowded.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I wanted to throttle the author on the edge of that cliffhanger she left me on. I feel like this book gave me a huge book hang over and I cannot wait to read the next book. I would recommend this book to others.

REVIEW - Gutted (Torn #5) - A.F. Crowell

TITLE - Gutted (Torn #5)

AUTHOR - A.F. Crowell

Blurb:

Two years after the apparent murder of the one man Barb Kelly ever loved, a former Marine sniper with a dangerous MC, he’s alive—and he intends to reclaim her heart.

KILLING THE LIE

Barb and Viper had an explosive relationship from the moment they met. She looked past his MC affiliation and saw through his rough and possessive exterior. Then she fell. Hard. Just as she let down the wall around her heart, he was gone. It's taken her nearly two years to feel human again, and she's barely recovered.

Cole Ellett, road name Viper, is back. But his lies remain. Never a member of an outlaw MC. Never murdered. Undercover for the Department of Homeland Security, his job forced him to disappear. But now he's back for Barb, who is everything he’s ever desired. No matter that his life is still in danger and that their relationship was like a house built on sand. No matter that she’s locked her heart away for good. He will reignite her spark and bring back the fire that burns only for him. Theirs is a love that will never die.

Review:

Gutted is Barb's story. If you followed from the beginning of the Torn Series you know that Barb is Leila's friend and coworker. She has feelings for Viper. Feelings she never got to share with Viper as Viper ended up shot and he died, and well this story has a shocker.

Barb is a smart, intelligent, feisty, sassy character. Her world came to an end when her love, Viper died. For two years she was lonely. Then on Christmas there was a knock on the door and she got the shock of her life.

Viper, whose name is Cole, is back! He has to explain everything and it takes time. Barb is truly “gutted”. What a perfect title if you ask me!

AF Crowell is an amazing, talented writer, who in my opinion can make readers get sucked into her books. Sometimes it's like I'm right there with the characters. I couldn't wait to read this book and it doesn't disappoint!

This story had so many feels to it. I cried, smiled, laughed, and frowned. My oh my, if you haven't heard of AF Crowell or whatever the case may be, please start from the beginning and read The Torn Series. There is tension, compassion, action.

My favorite part of this book is when Barb and Cole went to Disney!

This quote made me laugh:

“Whoa buddy, this ain't taxi cab confessions, No BJ's in the cab man.”

I left her in the living room with Logan. I figured it would be as good as tying her to the chair. She can't just walk away if we're out here.”

EXCERPT

A hand on my arm stirs me from my deep musings. “Lucas, are you okay?”
My head turns and I find Charlotte standing beside me. The first thing I
notice are her large tits and how close they are to touching my arm. If I
shift a fraction of a step to the side I could feel them press against me.
My eyes move up over her delicate collarbones. I want to place a kiss
between them and then lick my way up her graceful neck until I reach her
red mouth. Fuck me. She has the mouth of a fucking porn star. I wonder if
she sucks dick like one?

“Lucas.” She rubs my arm, pulling me back to the present.
My eyes leave her enticing lips and raise up to meet her enthralling blues
and I finally find my voice. “Yeah, I’m fine.” I turn to face her, our
gazes never breaking contact. With her heels she stands only a few inches
shorter than my six foot one inch frame and the tips of her breasts are
pointing at my chest. Being this close to her has my dick hard. I’ve never
had such a strong reaction to a woman before. A few seconds in her company
and my cock’s ready and waiting.

“Can I get you anything?” she asks, rubbing my arm again.
That’s a loaded question if I ever heard one.
“I don’t know. Can you?”
Her hand falls from my arm. “If you want something, I’ll get it for you.”
I inch forward until her tits are touching my chest. Her eyes go wide. “I
want a lot of things Charlie.” I let my hand caress over the curve of her
hip down to the top of her ass as I reach behind her to pick up the refill
the waitress placed there for me a few minutes ago. I take a step back,
lifting the drink toward my mouth. “Right now I just want another beer.” My
lips close around the bottle and I take a large gulp. Jesus. I need a cold
shower after being this close to her.

Her porn star lips open in a silent oh at my reply. She flashes me a tight
smile and looks down at the diamond encrusted Rolex on her wrist. “The limo
will be here in twenty minutes to pick us up.”

I nod my head before tipping back the beer. If I drink this one straight
down I’ll have time for one more.

Charlotte takes a dainty step back still looking at me and then pivots
around to walk back into the reception room. My eyes follow her, locked on
the generous curves of her ass. Fuck. I no longer need to wonder or
speculate about what my father saw in her. It’s the same thing every red
blooded guy sees when he looks at her. SEX. Between her large rack, her
full lips and her heart shaped ass, I don’t know which I’d like to bite
more. But I’d sure like to find out.

Release Tour & Review - Forbidden Love - Evan Grace

Title: Forbidden Love
Series: Love Stings Book 3

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 24, 2017
Publisher: Limitless Publishing
Cover Designed by: Deranged Doctor Designs

Violet Carmichael knew her second year of college would be tough, but nothing could have prepared her for what was about to happen…

Violet’s goal is clear—to finish college and work alongside her father and uncle at their family business—but she has one major problem. The dreaded Professor Torres, head of the Architectural Department at Tulane, has a reputation as one of the toughest teachers on campus. Violet has heard more than once that he can be a downright jerk, but she’s determined to not let him get in her way.

He might be a successful professor, but his personal life is nothing short of a mess…

Diego Torres has the worst track record when it comes to women—which is why when he first lays eyes on his new student, he assumes she’s like all the other superficial Barbie dolls he’s always been attracted to. But it only takes a few encounters for him to realize he couldn’t have been more wrong, and the more time he spends with Violet, the more he desires her in a way no professor should desire a student.

Sometimes it’s impossible to walk away, even when there’s so much at stake…

After desperately trying avoid crossing that thin ethical line, Diego and Violet are no longer able to deny the sexual tension between them and risk everything, falling into an all-consuming, passionate relationship. But when outsiders threaten to destroy it all, Diego has no choice but to make a life-altering decision for himself and the woman he is forbidden to love.

As lines between student and professor begin to blur, the consequences might end up destroying them both…

A knock on my office door has me looking up to find Violet standing there. "Come in and please shut the door." She does and then sits down on the other side of my desk. "Ms. Carmichael, I asked you to come meet me to discuss your design. I’d like you to answer me honestly. Who helped you?" There was no reason to beat around the bush.

"What do you mean, who helped me? No one did." I see that familiar spark in her eyes. "Do you really think I’d turn in something that I honestly didn’t do by myself?"

"Well, Ms. Carmichael, people will sometimes do anything to make themselves look good."

Violet pushes herself up until she’s standing and slaps her hands on my desk. "Are you kidding me right now? I did that design all by myself. How dare you accuse me of having someone help me? I’ll show you right now that I did it alone." She grabs her laptop out of her bag and slaps it on my desk.

I watch in stunned silence as she pulls up a program on her laptop and starts tapping away on her
keyboard. She stops and picks it up, coming around to my side, and I watch as she works with a speed that seriously impresses me. It’s very obvious that I’ve made a mistake here. Violet knows what she’s doing and is confident in her work. Before I can stop myself, I reach out and place my hand on her arm to stop her typing.

"Why’d you stop me?" she asks as I stand up. We’re so close we’re almost touching. This close to her, I can see the gold flecks in her eyes.

"I believe you. I’m sorry I thought you had help. Yours was the best I’ve seen in a long time." I warm inside when I watch a touch of pink bloom on her cheeks. "You’re extremely gifted." I feel myself lean toward her and feel her lean toward me. It’s like we’re two magnets, and the pull is intense. I’ve never in my life felt this kind of pull toward someone. If I’m being honest, it freaks me out just a little. Right now I’d give my left nut to be able to mark her, to taste her.

My office phone ringing breaks the spell, and we both lean back. Violet doesn’t say a word—she just stares at me with those hypnotic eyes of hers. The phone stops ringing, but I don’t care.

She finally speaks. "Um…th-thank you for believing me. I should probably go."

Violet’s gone before I can even stop her.

“Hot student teacher romance, 5 stars”

Forbidden Love has two of my favorite elements for a story, a forbidden romance and dual language. Sometimes student-teacher romance stories start to read the same, but I never got that from Forbidden Love.

Lets start with our heroine Violet, shes brilliant, beautiful, and sure of herself. Violet, much like myself would rather spend time at home with her family than out at a club. In Forbidden Love you really see her transform as a character. Violet becomes more sure of who she is as a woman and what she desires with a little help from Diego.

Diego is from Spain and finds himself as one of Violets professors. At first he falls into lust with her beauty then her mind. When he actually gets to know her he easily tumbles into love with her, so much so that he speaks a mix of Spanish and English to her. Which is hot, one of my favorite things is when Authors do pet names or whatever you want to call them in a different language than the rest of the book.

But they have many obstacles ahead of them. Not just with the school, but with family, and their age differences. He was a player where she was the good girl. Diego feels Violet could do better, she disagrees.
Sh*t will hit the fan and enemies will come to the surface.
The question is can they make it?

All the characters in Forbidden Love flow together seamlessly. This is the third book in the Love Stings series. It is a stand alone so you don’t need to read the ones that come before it. But if you do then some of those characters make small appearances.

Here are a couple pieces from the story that for some reason stuck to me or made me smile;

“My dad has treated my mom like a queen for as long as I can remember. Hell, he’s treated all of us girls like queens, and he’s had four women looking after him too. Will it be worth it to pursue this even if it’s a secret?”

“The ping of my buttons hitting the wall echoes through the apartment. That one simple movement causes something to awaken inside of me.”
