Delilah
Sage was my comfort within all the pain.
Offering
open arms when I needed an escape.
The only
one trusted to be there for me.
But our
dreams were doomed from the start.
And I left
her clinging to false hope.
Regret has
plagued me for years.
The
memories of Delilah refuse to fade.
Each second
of every day, I want to claim her as mine.
But I won’t
ruin her life.
And she’s
better off without me.
When a job
lands me in town, I plan to keep my distance.
My scars
are mine alone.
Dredging up
the past will only cause deeper damage.
But Delilah
has always been my weakness.
And
resisting her isn’t an option.
After all,
there’s far too much for us to miss.

OUR REVIEWS:
“Second chances, 4 stars”
Delilah and Zeke were in love as kids, but Zeke had to take off for his own reasons. When he did he promised to return to her. But the separation was much longer then Delilah would have thought. Now he’s back and wanting to make things right. Its up to Delilah on if she will let him back in.
Zeke has always loved Delilah that’s never been the issue. The issue is him. Is he worthy of her? When confronted with his past he must decide if its now or never where she’s concerned. Will he take her hand and never let go or runaway again?
I really loved Delilah. She was strong when she needed to be but forgiving when it mattered. There was no question in my mind that Zeke loved Delilah. But for me I didn’t like Zeke’s mind, I realize kids who grow up like he did have a lot of baggage to unload but I felt like he depended too much on Delilah and her opinion. I just wish he had some more confidence.
At one point in the start of the story I swear to god I had read it before, but clearly hadn’t. I don’t know what book the start reminded me of, but it reminded me of something. With that said, Miss is still a good quick read that one would enjoy while passing time.

AHHHH I love these characters. Miss is a standalone novel, but is connected with a previous book called Gent. Miss follows Delilah, who was the best friend in the first book. We got a lot of hints about Delilah’s past, but I was not quite expecting what I got. This book is full of heart break and self-hatred, but it also is about second chances.
I really liked the plot of this book. I knew that Delilah was going to have a great story. Delilah was in love once. When she was a teen she gave her everything to one boy. That boy left and took all the fairytales she always believed. Five years later he finally comes back. Can see look past the demons in the past and move forward or are they destined to fail?
Delilah is such a strong character. I love the fact that she didn’t just melt on the spot and give into her inner feelings. She fought them because she knew that just because your heart wants something doesn’t mean that it is always good for you. Zeke is a great character as well. I wanted to hate him at first, but then as I got to know him I really started to love him. I see his strength as well. I liked watching him learn to move on from the past.
The heat in this book is there. The chemistry they have is amazing. I loved watching these two get to know each other all over again. It just added to the growing feelings between the two. This was a great part of this book.
I really liked the writing style of this book as well. The pace of the book was steady. I liked the two characters. This story is told in a dual point of view. I like that we got to know some more minor characters. The town was described amazingly as well.
Overall, this is an amazing story. I really enjoyed everything about it. I really hope the author continues to use some of the minor characters and grow this little world she has created. I really have enjoyed getting to know this town and would love to learn more. I would recommend this book to others.

EXCERPT
His voice is even more flat when he says, “Not
sure what you mean. This is me.”
“You’re acting so
detached and strange. This isn’t like you.”
“Well, you don’t
know me anymore.”
That response
brings fury and betrayal roaring to the surface again. “And whose fault is
that, Zeke?” I grab a nearby mug with the intention of throwing it at his head.
He’s giving me worse mood swings than Aunt Flo.
“We both know the answer. Let’s not play
guessing games.”
“You’re ridiculous.
I don’t understand you at all,” I say.
“A lot happens in
five years. You’re not the only one who’s changed.” He gestures around the
store.
“What is that
supposed to mean? Are you upset about my career choice?”
“Nah, that isn’t
it.”
“What then? Let’s
stop dancing around. You came here for a reason,” I point out.
A flush races up
his neck, painting the stubbled skin an angry red. “All of this is proof you
never needed me. Not like I fucking depend on you.”
