Release + Review - Every Little Thing - Jordan Bates

The first time I shook her hand, I knew she was the one.

But my breath stalled when I grazed the cool metal on her finger and when I looked down at that fucking ring, my heart stopped.

Now, she’s back in town and after five years, I had no idea what’d happened. Instead of her husband standing by her side, holding her hand, there was a little girl.

I wanted to know their story.

Because when it came to Melanie, I needed to know every little thing.

Johnaka's Review
“For love, 4 stars”

Ugh, my heart went out to both Jack and Melanie in Every Little Thing. Jack fell for Melanie when he first met her, but when he felt that cool band on her finger he stepped back. He wanted nothing to do with ending a marriage no matter how much he wanted the woman. But when Melanie comes home without that ring and a daughter, he will do anything to make them both his.

Jack was a sweetheart, one who was often viewed differently than how he actually was. He was so misunderstood it hurt my heart. Then Melanie is trying to pick up the pieces of her life and has to decide if she wants to put her heart out there again. Every Little Thing is a sweet read that I think most would enjoy.

“I loved reading about Greek mythology the most when I was in high school.”
I turned toward Melanie who was staring at me. I wondered how long she’d been looking on or more so. How long ago did she move her chair to the side of the table, so we were sitting next to each other, rather than across from each other?
“I’m a huge fan of Greek mythology myself,” I respond.
“You are?” Melanie cocked her head to the side. A look of disbelief crossed her face and I tried not to laugh.
“I am. I loved studying about it in college. I took a couple of Greek mythology classes between History and Literature. I even took a Latin class as well. The culture intrigues me.”
“Same here. Anything I can get my hands on I love to read or watch about.”
“If that’s the case, I have a comic I’d love to show you. It’s about Persephone and Hades.”
Melanie quickly put her drink down and placed her hand over mine.
“Wait!” There was a stunned look on her face as she reached into her back pocket, bringing her phone out. It was only seconds before she was shoving the device in my face, showing me exactly what I’d been about to tell her.
“You mean Lore Olympus?!”
“Yeah,” I laughed at Melanie’s enthusiasm and when she pulled the phone away, I saw a genuine smile plastered across her face as she looked at me.
“It’s one of my all-time favorite comics and it’s not just the story but the illustrations as well. It’s just so cool to see the story come to life in a different way than just words or even so, the way most people read about it.”
“Exactly. We can see these Gods in our time and see them be almost human for a second. It’s quite a refreshing rendition to the Greek mythology world.”
“Did you see it was being optioned for a show too?!”
“I had not but that sounds exciting. I wonder if it will be animated the way it is in the comics or if they are going to change it.”
“I hope they’d keep it the way it is but if anything, seeing that story come to life would be amazing to watch.”
“I hope you wouldn’t make me watch it alone.”
It was a long shot but I stuck the comment out there in the open, hoping with how this coffee date was going, Melanie would sink into the words and move this in the direction I wanted it to go.
“Smooth move there, Jack.” She shook her head and leaned in closer to me, just like she had at the bar. “I said this wasn’t a date.”
“Yet here you are in a dress, sitting next to me, giving me the smile I’ve been so desperately wanting to get from you.”
“My smile?” She moved her hand to her lips and looked down at her drink.
I reached out, tucking my fingers under her chin and lifting her head up.
“You’re smile, Melanie.” I gave her a small smile myself. “Since I’ve known you, I’ve never seen the smile you give others directed toward me. Now, you’ve given me a smile that I’ve never seen you give anyone else.”

Release + Review - Stolen Soulmate - Mary Catherine Gebhard

There’s a rule in Crowne Hall: never look a Crowne in the eyes.
It protects us more than them.
I broke it once, the night Grayson Crowne mistook me for his true love and stole my first kiss. I’ve regretted it every day since.
He hates me.
He torments me.
He won’t let me go, because that night he whispered a secret against my lips not meant for me. Grayson Crowne, heir to the Crowne empire and notorious playboy prince is… a virgin.
I signed a contract in my heart’s blood as much as ink: help him get back his love, repair what I broke. Give him my body, my soul, my heart, let him use all of me, so when the time comes to marry her, he won’t need me.
I shouldn’t need him.
But he’s my stolen soulmate, and I’m at his mercy.

Jennifer's Review

Interesting novel! Stole. Soulmate is a very interesting novel. It has a very old timey feel with some modern issues. I really enjoyed this book.

The theme of this book I would say is a bully-like romance with a royal feel. I really liked the way the author wrote this story. It kept me turning page after page.

The characters in this book were good. I liked their development and storylines. With that being said, I did have some minor annoyances with them. The heat in this book is great as well. The author knows her steam!

Overall, this was a great story with one crazy ending. I cannot wait to read the next book!

“You like that.” He groaned. “Of course you do.”
The room became one thing. Grayson.
Tongue. Teeth. Hands.
“Your dresses are perfect,” he said. “My little nun. Do you wear them just for me?” He pulled a bit of the giving material aside, biting my shoulder, then laving his tongue over the wound. “A taunting, teasing, torturous nun.”

Release + Review - The Hookup Equation - Roxie Noir

Teach me everything.

The Hookup Equation, an all-new romantic comedy that is “filled to the brim with laughs and emotion” from Roxie Noir, is available now!

My whole life, I’ve been a good girl. I follow rules like nobody’s business. I obey guidelines like I was born to it. Show me a line, and I’ll toe it.
I’m even a twenty-two-year-old virgin. Good is my middle name.
And then, I break one tiny little rule. Miniscule. Inconsequential.
Next thing I know, I’m trapped with an incredibly handsome stranger. He’s got eyes like cut emeralds, biceps that makes my head spin, and a smile that has me rethinking all my life choices.
We escape a bar bathroom together. We go on an impromptu date. We share the hottest kiss I’ve ever had, one that leaves me panting for more. We promise to see each other again.
Turns out, we see each other the next morning.
In my calculus class.
Which he’s teaching.
My handsome, sexy date is Professor Loveless, and we’ll be seeing each other plenty. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday all semester.
There’s no choice but to call it off. We both have too much at stake: I could lose my scholarship, and he could lose his entire career.
But I can’t call off the way I feel.
I can’t call off the way he looks when he rolls up his sleeves and explains imaginary numbers.
I can’t call off the heated glances, or the way our hands touch when I hand in my homework, or the memory of his body pressing against mine that night.
I’m a virgin.
He’s my professor.
And if we give in, it could cost us both everything.
But I’m so tired of being a good girl.

Johnaka's Review
“Could it be wrong when it feels so right, 5 stars”

Thalia has always been a rule follower, a good girl but when she meets the handsome stranger in a restroom, she can’t deny that he has something that she wants. When he asks her on a date, she can’t help but say yes. It’s the perfect date and she wants more. But what happens when she realizes he’s her professor?

Caleb isn’t one to be spontaneous or break rules, but Thalia makes him want what he can’t have. Not only does he click with her mentally but physically. The question is will he put everything on the line for Thalia? Or will he walk away from what could be the best thing in his life?

I loved Caleb and Thalia. The chemistry between the two was undeniable. They balanced each other perfectly. I loved most of Thalia’s friends, enjoyed her brothers, then Caleb’s family was absolutely amazing too. All in all, The Hookup Equation was a fast, fun, romantic read.

Louise's Review
The Hook up Equation is book 4 in the “Loveless Series”, having not read the previous 3 books I was worried I would have missed something but this book is a complete standalone.

Thalia is a good girl, skipping the ladies’ line to use the men’s is her being a bad girl and when she finds herself locked inside the bathroom with the most handsome man she has ever met she might just start being more of a bad girl. When Professor Loveless walks into his class he never expected to see Aubree sitting there, he can’t do this he can’t be thinking about her every second of the day. Being bad together results in the worst, but will they good together in the end?

I enjoyed reading this book, I personally felt the build-up was drawn out, but the characters continued to grow throughout. This was my first-time reading Noir and I look forward to more work from her in the future.

Excerpt

“I’m sorry I was a jerk on Friday night,” I start over, moving closer. “I still think that what I said was valid, but I didn’t have to —"
He steps closer, leans in.
“—I didn’t have to be an asshole about it,” I say into his ear.
“I think I deserved it,” he says. His lips brush my ear, and my eyes flutter closed.
Don’t, I tell myself. Don’t do a single thing that isn’t apologizing for your behavior.
As if I didn’t seek him out. As if I didn’t drag him into this tiny, cramped back staircase.
“No, you were right,” I tell him, automatically reaching out, steadying myself against his shoulder. “I found you at the banquet. I kissed you later. I gave you a bottle of wine.”
“But I’m the one who should know better,” he says, and then his hand is on mine, holding it against his warm chest. My heart beats harder, faster.
“You think I don’t?”
“I shouldn’t be giving you rides and walking you home,” he goes on. “Pretending that those things are perfectly fine and innocent, because they’re not.”
We shift in the tiny space and suddenly our bodies are touching from shoulder to hip, the jolt of his heat like an electric current.
“We shouldn’t be seeing each other at all,” I tell him, even as I close my eyes, press myself into him so softly I can tell myself I’m not doing anything, my lips millimeters from his ear.
“No,” he says. “The more I see you the harder it is to pretend I don’t like you.”
A hand on my hip, his fingers touching bare skin above my too-small shorts.
“And the harder it is to pretend I don’t want you,” he whispers.
My heart’s beating so hard and fast that it feels like my ribcage is rattling in my body. Outside and from above, the organ hums thickly, surrounding us.
“What if it were my fault?” I ask.
“What do you mean?”
I know I should walk away. I know that. I know my coworker Nathaniel got expelled for sexual misconduct and while I have no intention of making porn, I’m fairly certain that sleeping with my professor also falls into that category.
I know he could get fired and his career could be over.
I know a million things wrong with this scenario, and not one of them stops me.
“I mean,” I say, and plant a kiss on his neck, right below his jaw. His fingers curl into my spine.
“What if —" another kiss, higher up, “— it were my fault?”
The last kiss lands on his jawline, right below his ear, my fingers now woven through his hair, his slight stubble sharp on my lips.
He moves his hand until his palm is flat on my back, in the space between the shorts and my vest, underneath the jacket I’m still wearing. He swallows hard, his breath on my neck.
Then his hand is on my face, his thumb stroking my jaw, and he pulls me back, his green eyes nearly black in the dark, his lips parted, his gaze roaming my face. I don’t breathe. I don’t think my heart beats.
And he kisses me.

Release + Review - More Jade - Laura Pavlov

And then I met Cruz Winslow…
He’s everything I’m not, and then some — a budding musician, he’s cocky and arrogant. He’s at ease in every situation and treats me like I’m the only person who exists.
Together we’re in sync with everything we do and I’m falling hard and fast for him.
He’s also a complicated boy and although I can’t begin to understand the life he’s lived, I want to be there for him in every way possible.
And that’s how it happened.
Slowly but surely, he’s captured my heart —
One I wasn’t prepared to give away…

Jade Moore is not my type…
She’s a good girl and has her entire life mapped out. I’ve never met anyone like her.
The girl is disciplined and determined.
I’m not.
She follows the rules.
I don’t.
She’s sunshine and girl next door.
I’m sex and booze.
We don’t mix.
But from the minute I lay my eyes on her, I’m done for. She’s everything I never knew
I wanted…
And now all I want is…more Jade.

Johnaka's Review

“Opposites attract, 3 stars”

More Jade is the classic opposites attract. Cruz and Jade couldn’t be more opposite. She’s a straight-laced good girl with a plan. He’s the well-off lead singer in a band. Together they shouldn’t work but they do because it’s all about balance, right?

The reason for the three stars you ask? Well that’s because there was one pretty significant point in the plot that I was not a fan of. On top of that when I chose to read More Jade, I didn’t realize that it was a trilogy and honestly, they are not my cup of tea. With that said this is my first story by Pavlov and I can see how and why people would enjoy her writing.

If your willing to take a chance on a rock star trilogy then look no further.

Maybe this was a form of Stockholm syndrome. She'd sucked me into her nerdy little world, and now I wanted more. Like a psychological phenomenon, I'd developed positive feelings for my captor. A girl I had nothing in common with.
Nada.
Zilch.
She would despise my world. She was sunshine and rainbows and I was booze and sex. Speaking of sex--wouldn't mind having some with my captor. Something about her goodness screamed virgin, which was not something I ever wanted to mess around with. There were girls who took that shit seriously, and many who didn't.
I tended to stick with the latter.
She was probably saving herself for something or someone special.
That was definitely not me.
But I guarantee if I spent one night with her, I'd want to tattoo More Jade across my body.
After I rocked her fucking world, of course.

Release + Review - Crazy Heifer - Lani Lynn Vale

I fell in love with his rope skills. I stayed because somehow he took hold of my heart and made it his.

Callum Valentine didn’t mean to eavesdrop. Then again? When a man is calling a woman fat right in front of your table, it’s kind of hard not to intervene. Especially when the town’s most beautiful creature ever is the one being called fat.

Desi just wants to be left alone. After an ugly divorce, she thinks she’s in the clear. Then her ex takes it upon himself to continue to make her life miserable, giving Desi no choice but to take it or leave.

In fact, her bags were nearly all the way packed when Callum poked his nose into the most embarrassing spectacle the town of Kilgore has ever witnessed. The moment he declares her his and off limits, everything changes—and definitely not for the better.

As if things couldn’t get worse than being called a pitiful, fat heifer in front of the hottest man she’s ever seen, Callum has to go and say that she’s his, and they have to play a game that she’s not quite sure she wants to be playing.

But before her eyes, things change. And suddenly the rules of the game aren’t clear. And they’re crossing boundaries neither one of them see coming.

Johnaka's Review

“The real deal, 5 stars”

Desi was put down time and time again during her marriage leaving her feeling like less than. And when the hottest man she’s ever known walks her way and doesn’t walk away she can’t believe it. Callum prefers his women to eat what they want and not because they think they should. When he hears Desi’s idiot ex throwing insults her way he can’t help but step in, because as far as he can tell she’s perfect.

Desi is insecure and finding out how to love herself. Callum is trying to find his feet after being home for the first time in years and transitioning out of the military. These two can’t stay away from each other though and they don’t try very hard. Callum’s all alpha and believes you treat a woman right. And well… Desi’s never been treated right. The question is will she let Callum in or will her exes words haunt her.

I loved these two. Ugh, I wanted to punch Desi’s ex. I love everything about the Valentine family and how they are proving the town wrong. I cannot wait to see what Vale does with the rest of the boys.

Release + Review - Malady - Natalie Bennett

Let's play a game...

Words can be powerful things, and those four just granted me a golden ticket straight to hell.

Two beautifully deranged boys have decided I'm their next acquisition.

To make things fair they give me a chance to save myself. All I have to do is beat them at a few games of their choice.

Truth or dare.

Hide and seek.

Simon says.

Seems simple until you account for the bloodied twist they each have.

They say in all chaos there's calculation. For my sake I hope that's true because if we’re going to play, I’m playing to win.

Malady is a complete novel. There's no cliffhanger, but it must be read after Crucible.

Jennifer's Review
Standing ovation! Malady is a great novel. It is a quick read, but still gives you that feel of a full length novel with character development. This book is not a standalone and book one MUST be read first. If you like dark reads, this book is for you. The plot and characters are dynamic and the writing is superb. Check this one out today!
