Release+Review-Mine to Protect-Kennedy L. Mitchell

MINE TO PROTECT
Author: Kennedy L. Mitchell
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: April 8, 2019

Alta’s natural beauty catches his immediate attention, but the strength behind her fierce gaze is what holds him captive – demanding he learns more about her.

As the team grows close, the serial killer shifts focus putting them all in danger. Cas should walk away before their sizzling attraction distracts him and gets them both killed. But as the threat pushes Cas and Alta closer, the temptation turns too hot for either to resist.

With their focus diverted the threat zeroes in, catching everyone off guard. Figuring out the players in the killer’s cat and mouse game is key to Alta’s survival. Cas swore he would protect her but with the clues carefully hidden, can he figure it out before Alta disappears for good?

Mine to Protect is a standalone, romantic thriller novel based in the beautiful mountains of the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Our Review:

“Will he be able to save her in time? 5 stars”

Alta has had a rough life and is just a shell of herself. Then the disappearance of women at her park brings in the FBI. With the FBI comes Cas to help assist on the case. He’s cold and savage. What Cas never expected was Alta, the woman brings him back to life. She makes him feel possessive and warm for the first time in years. The question is will these two catch the killer before they get to Alta?

I love twisted suspense romances. I loved how shut off Cas was and how he couldn’t help but open up under Alta’s eyes. She literally brought him back to life. I loved how Alta didn’t let her past completely control her. She found a way to cope even if it wasn’t up to some people’s standards. So, you have these two who can’t stay away from each other and you also have Chandler who is the FBI agent working close with them. He was the perfect secondary character cheering them on from the get go. Will these three be able to stop women from disappearing and figure out what’s really going on? Only one way to find out.

I solidly enjoyed Mine to Protect. I somewhat saw the twist in the story. I didn’t see the who but I saw the circumstance surrounding the case of missing women. Mitchell wrote the story cleverly enough to give you an idea but not a definitive one. If you take a chance on Mine to Protect I don’t think you’ll regret it. I hope, we sometime get Chandler’s story.

Excerpt

“Stay away from me, Lady.”
Her eyes met mine, daring her to push back. “What? I didn’t mean—”
“I’m not the man you think I am. I’m an asshole with more control issues than they can diagnose. I’m not a nice guy.”
“But I’m safe,” she whispered in a voice so fragile, it chipped at my resolve to stay away for her sake.
Fuck, that weak voice cracked every restraint I had. All she wanted to be was safe, and that was the one thing I could offer. “No one—I repeat, no one will touch you while I’m here. That is a fact you shouldn’t question.”
Her tight shoulders dropped, her lips parted in a relieved sigh. There was trust there, trust I hadn’t earned yet, but still she gave it—to me, a nobody.
Fuck it.
Narrowing my eyes, I crouched directly in front of her, inching closer until her back pressed against the brick hearth. Inches from her nose, I inhaled each of her shaky breaths, savoring the heated fear that pulsed off her as her eyes darkened with lust. She needed to be scared of me, to run in the opposite direction.
Still I dared another inch closer, hoping she’d push me off, praying she wouldn’t.
I slid a hand around the hot skin of her delicate neck.
“I don’t know how to be gentle, Lady,” I growled.
Her breath hitched at the minuscule squeeze of my fingers around her throat.
“What if I don’t want gentle?” she breathed.
“What do you want?”
Light brown brows pulled together in thought, but her hazel eyes stayed locked with mine. “You.”

Blurb:
Going deep: In football it means running down the field for a long pass. You’re serious. Committed. Unstoppable. As a wide receiver, it’s a term I’m all too familiar with. It’s who I am, at least when it comes to my career.

For the past decade, football has been the only thing I’ve allowed myself to commit to. That is until a beautiful, blue-eyed temptress steps into my limo to escort me to a charity function.

She’s strong, independent, and quick witted. Everything I want in a woman. There’s just one problem. She’s not mine for the taking. But that’s not going to stop me from winning her heart.

I’m in deep with this woman. I’m running down the field with my arms and heart open, ready for the catch. Now all I need is for her to throw the ball.

Our Review:

“Imperfect Love, 5 stars”

Giselle intrigues Killian. There is just something about her he can’t figure out and he doesn’t understand why he wants to. When you have mutual friends, you find yourself spending time with one another. What happens when feelings start to change? Will the two people who keep people at arm’s length be able to let each other in?

Giselle is freaking wonder woman. That woman took on so much that she didn’t have to but did, she stepped up to the plate. She kept it all quiet because she didn’t want anyone to swoop in and solve her problems. But Killian figured her out. Killian was the best kind of hero. He was alpha when he needed to be and accepting of Giselle when she needed him to be.

Ash took us on an unlikely love story. She made us not judge a book by the cover, the book being Giselle and the cover being what she showed everyone. In the book she was described as a pitbull, kind of mean looking but totally loveable once given a chance, and I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever read a more on point description of someone.

“Going deep: In football it means running down the field for a long pass. You’re serious. Committed. Unstoppable”

Ash went deep where Going Deep was concerned and as someone who’s read all her stories, I can tell you I firmly believe that this is her best book to date. There is not one thing I would change about either character. I cannot wait to see what she does next. You won’t regret it if you one-click Going Deep.

Release+Reviews-Americas Geekhart-Pippa Grant

RELEASE BLITZ
Title: America’s Geekheart
Author: Pippa Grant
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: April 5, 2019

BLURB

Remember that time you accidentally sexted your in-laws?

Yeah. I just did that. Except worse. Now my million social media followers are reading and sharing the rude, smartass message I meant to send privately to my little sister...and I’m officially public enemy number one.

I’m Beck Ryder. Former boy bander. Underwear model. Fashion mogul. And I just buried my entire leg in my mouth—not just my foot—modern internet style, and publicly insulted my sister’s neighbor.

Sarah Dempsey.

Also known as the woman of my dreams, who loves geeky TV shows, baseball, and giraffes, who’s just as turned on by food as I am, and who has a huge secret that I didn’t see coming.

Now it's time to grovel and apologize publicly on social media and hope that those same followers who helped start the raging shitstorm will help calm the waters.

Because Sarah doesn’t want the spotlight. For very good reasons that I can’t tell you right now and trying to convince her to be my fake girlfriend to fix this mess and make me look like less of a jackass is worse than taking a kick to the nuts by Jackie Chan.

And I thought modeling underwear made me feel naked.

Trying to start a relationship in the era of the twitterazzi isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.

America’s Geekheart is a rockin’ fun romantic comedy featuring a billionaire fashion mogul who got his start modeling underwear, the geeky girl next door with a secret the size of California, and more superstitions and secrets than you can shake a baseball bat at. It stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers.

Our Reviews:

Johnakas review

“Beck Ryder, 5 stars”

Beck Ryder has a way of making things awkward, putting his foot in his mouth, etc. But usually its in private with those who know him best. Until he accidently sends out a tweet meant to be a private joke. Now the world hates him and he has to apologize to Sarah. Only Sarah is so much more than he ever could have imagined. Will something good come out of something bad?
Sarah leaves her past in the past and doesn’t talk about it. With Beck in her life her past is bound to come to light and it terrifies her. Then she gets to know him, the man who’s constantly happy. He is not like the people she grew up with and she can’t help but want him. Will she be able to deal with the media or will she cave?
I loved Americas Geekheart. Beck Ryder will put you into stitches. I loved watching Sarah transform right before us. The way he fell for her hook, line, and sinker was fantastic. Americas Geekheart has all of Grants usual humor and shenanigans. I cannot wait to see where Grant goes with the rest of this series. One thing is for sure I can always count on Grant to make me laugh and I hope you do too.

Erin's review

Pippa Grant hit it out of the park again with this book!  Fans of hers will love this book and seeing a few previous characters, but new readers won’t have a problem dropping into the Pippaverse.  This romantic comedy has an amazing plot with fun twists and shows that there is a person for everyone who will get your quirks!

I thoroughly enjoyed the plot of this book.  Beck and Sarah have a very rocky start, and have a Hollywood internet paparazzi twist to all their interactions.  But through it all, they manage to find the good and enjoy each other’s company.

Ya’ll, I can’t even properly describe or categorize Beck.  His character would have fit right in to “Gilmore Girls.” He’s like a labrador puppy, full of love and life and laughter and verbal diarrhea and wants to make the world a better place and make sure his family and friends are safe and happy.  So when he makes a tragic mistake and manages to anger the internet gods, he’s got a serious uphill battle to revive his image. His unintended target and now love interest, Sarah, is hiding a secret. She’s an environmentalist, very private, and not interested in having her secret revealed.  I kinda want to be Sarah when I grow up; closet geek, syfy fan, nature lover, and fan of comfy underwear. I feel completely unable to properly describe these two for this review! They are some of my favorite Pippa Grant characters, and I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I liked them after not loving Bro Code #1.  But these two have a fantastic plot line and story arc.

How could Sarah not be attracted to underwear model Beck?  Poor girl never stood a chance. Except for the whole start to the relationship of course.  So the way their relationship progresses is completely natural, from unknown entities or enemies, to forced cooperation for mutual benefits, to friendship.  Through it all, they start a friendship that makes the basis of something more. That something turns into a beautiful relationship that progresses in such a natural way with fantastic chemistry.

Beck sucked me into this book, and I didn’t put it down until I was finished just a few hours later.  Ms. Grant managed to craft an well written story that didn’t seem overdone or overly Hollywood, while still portraying Beck and Sarah as great people doing the best with their situation.  I loved not only Beck and Sarah’s story, but the introduction of all of their friends and family. I’m hopin Charlie and so many others will get a story soon!

Conclusion - Recap how you felt about the book. Will you read other books by this author? Would you recommend this book to others? Final thoughts on book.
This book is my favorite Bro Code book, and a great addition to the Pippaverse.  I loved seeing some of our favorite hockey players and one very talented ventriloquist.  There were so many new characters introduced in this book, along with the rest of the Bro Code band, that all need a story, so I’ll be waiting for their books impatiently.

Favorite Quotes:
“First rule of apologizing: Make sure she knows you’re coming.”
“You’re a geek accidentally involved with an underwear model.”
“Your robot pheromones are hypnotizing me.”
“Swear on my underwear, even the earth stops breathing.”
“Behave yourself and use a condom.”
“I licked her.  She’s mine now.”

Johnaka's Review:

“The Prince has fallen, 5 stars”

Carter is the playboy of Hollywood. While on set he’s serious and always on time, but one he walks off set he’s all about the women. When he signs the deal of a lifetime, he didn’t expect for it to come with strings but it does. When he met Erin, he thought he was going to add her to his list but soon realizes otherwise. Will the Playboy go from any willing woman to only one?

Erin is out to prove herself. She wants to be the best of the best when it comes to PR. When the company she’s interning for offers her a job she couldn’t be more thrilled, but feels a little overwhelmed with the idea of the job she has to pull off in order to really get the job. There is no denying that Carter is attractive but she’s got an iron will, the question is will that iron will hold?

I did enjoy the banter and the chemistry between Carter and Erin. They played off each other well. There were times that Hollywood was a little predictable for me but there were a couple times I was pleasantly surprised. I think it was a great conclusion to the series.

Louise's Review:

Carter is the Hollywood Prince, with a woman or two on his arm every night he continues to live up to his reputation.

Never late to set and always professional when it includes work his new contract states that he needs to clean up his act or its going to cost him the role of a lifetime. Erin is working for a high-profile PR company and wants to prove herself to show that she deserves to be there and in her dream position, when she is asked to tame the playboy, she can’t say no.

The chemistry between Carter and Erin is off the charts and there were moments when I wondered if Carter could change his ways. The small twist’s throughout the book kept me guessing and some I didn’t even see coming.

I personally loved this book, it’s the 3rd and final book of the series I have loved every second of it. Madison has smashed Hollywood Prince out of the park. While each book in the Hollywood Royalty series can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend you read them all as characters cross over in each book.

When her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...

OUR REVIEW:

Well I did not see that twist coming! Suzanne is a new to me author and once I started this book, I could not put it down, sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next!

Zoey had dreams, she knew what she wanted and what she had to do to make them a reality, when faced with a big decision what she thinks is the right one at the time is the bad one in the end. Brody is finally making it big, he is living and loving the single life. Most of Brody’s band mates have found their other halves he is starting to wonder if it is something he should be seeking; especially when the new back up dancer is ticking all his boxes. When Zoey’s bad decision comes back to haunt her will Brody make the right one or start making the bad ones himself.

The chemistry between Zoey and Brody is off the charts, their relationship is a slow burn that leads to fireworks; be prepared to fall in love with both of these characters faults and all.

I personally loved this story, I was hooked from the beginning and I look forward to reading more work from Suzanne.

CHAPTER 1

ZOEY

I wring my hands nervously in front of me, and then I force myself to stop. I wipe them down the front of my dress that’s purposely a little too short as I try in vain to eliminate the clamminess.
You can do this. You got this. Just go do it.
Be daring.
Be expressive.
Be bold.
I take a deep breath as I stare at the nameplate on the heavy wooden door. Derek Jensen.
He’s a Hollywood heavyweight, the casting director for an entire network, and I’m here for my interview spot for the reality dating show Single Life. Twenty women vie for the attention of one hot single guy, and I want to be one of the twenty.
If nothing else, it’ll get me a step closer to my real goal: a career on the silver screen. Plenty of successful actors got their start on a reality show. Jennifer Hudson, Emma Stone, Katharine McPhee...shit, even Jon Hamm failed on a dating show.
If they could do it, so can I.
I lift a shaking hand and knock on the door.
“Come in.” The voice on the other side is deep and muffled by the weight of the door.
I turn the handle and let myself in. I spot an open chair in front of the executive desk, and I force one foot in front of the other to get to it. I pause in my pursuit and glance at the man behind the desk, and I find myself frozen for one hot beat.
He’s a goddamn Greek god sitting there in a suit.
My first thought is that maybe it won’t be so bad to do whatever it takes to get what I want.
I wonder what he’s packing beneath his professional clothes. A six-pack of abs for sure. More than likely something long and thick beneath his belt. A broad chest that could hold me in the afterglow.
The door swings shut behind me as I study him. His lustrous and shiny dark hair is styled in a textured, slicked to the side way, and his dark eyes hold an edge of mystery as they pin me to my spot. I wonder for just a beat how old he is. Definitely older than forty...maybe older than fifty? It’s hard to tell, but age is just an unimportant number. It wouldn’t be so bad to do something illicit bent over his desk to get my spot on the show.
That’s how Hollywood works, isn’t it?
I tip my chin up with confidence. I refuse to be intimidated by a man even if he’s a stunningly handsome one like this guy. “I’m Zoey Fuller.”
He pushes to his feet and reaches his hand across his desk to shake mine. I place my clammy one in his and find his to be cool. Collected. Much like him.
“Derek Jensen. Have a seat.”
I follow his orders, and one side of his mouth tips up in a smile.
He leans back comfortably in his chair while I sit forward with unease.
“Why do you want to appear on Single Life?” he asks.
I draw in a deep breath. “I’ve been looking for love my entire life, Mr. Jensen, and I haven’t found it yet. Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places.”
“And this has nothing to do with the doors appearing on a television show might open for you? You’re a gorgeous young woman, after all.” He glances at the paper in front of him. “A background in dance,” he says, and then he pauses as his eyes fall to my chest, my legs, and back up again, searing each part of my body as they trail along. “Lovely blonde hair, a pretty face that would work well on the screen. Big, blue eyes that scream innocence but a dancer’s body that says otherwise. How many Instagram followers do you have? I can’t tell you how many ladies who think they’re Instagram famous come through my door.”
A dancer’s body that says otherwise. His words echo in my head as I basically ignore the other things he said.
Is he coming onto me, or is this just how these interviews work?
I’m not sure, but he did ask me a question. “This has nothing to do with doors opening, sir. I have connections of my own that I could use if that was my end goal.” It’s a lie, but I’ve practiced it so many times it feels like the truth. The lie is that this has nothing to do with doors opening. I want to go on television because I want to be discovered. And while my brother certainly has connections, I want to do this for myself.
He raises a brow and glances down at some papers on his desk. “I see that here.” He nods. “Ethan Fuller, the drummer of Vail, is your brother?”
I was hoping to get through this interview without that coming up. I nod and lean forward a bit. I know exactly what I’m doing, and I watch as his eyes flick down to the cleavage spilling out the top of my dress before they trail back to mine.
“Hmm...” he muses. “How long have you been dancing?”
“My whole life. I started ballet before pre-school.” I don’t mention that it was also before my father was hauled off to prison. I leave out the fact that I missed a lot of lessons growing up because my mother was too busy with her man of the week to drive me to them. My aunt often helped out, and even today she’s the mother I never had to my half-sisters. I was always quick to pick up what I missed, though. But dance isn’t what I want out of life, either. “I danced all through high school, too. I taught a few private lessons during college to earn extra cash.”
His eyes fall to my body again, and I feel their blazing heat everywhere they land. “Interesting indeed.”
I take that as my cue. I’ve never been to one of these casting interviews before, but I’m sharp enough to understand why his door has no window on it. I stand and press my palms on his desk as I lean forward, allowing more cleavage to spill out. “I don’t want to talk about my brother, Mr. Jensen.”
He raises a brow at me. “What, exactly, do you want to talk about, Ms. Fuller?”
I look him square in the eye and use my most sensual voice to answer. “I’ll do anything to get on the show, sir.”
“Are you offering what I think you’re offering?” His hands rest comfortably on the desk in front of him, and I spot an empty third finger on his left hand. My eyes fall to his lips. They’re not too full, not too thin. They’re firm, and they make me think he must be a really good kisser. I want to find out.
“I’m offering whatever it takes to get on the show.”
His eyes dip to my cleavage again, and I can’t help but think how easy men are to read. “I know what I want,” he says. He flicks his head to indicate I should come behind his desk.
I step over to him, and he swivels in his chair to face me. He stands and kicks the chair out behind him with practiced ease. Clearly this isn’t the first time he’s allowed someone auditioning into the space behind his desk.
I gaze up from lowered lashes into those dark, mysterious eyes. I think for the briefest second that I’d like something more than a quick romp over a desk with this man. He’s powerful. He’s handsome. He’s smart. He must be loaded.
That’s all I’m looking for.
What I’m not looking for, however, is someone who would allow a girl like me to seduce him just for a spot on a television show.
So I’ll do what needs to be done, and then I’ll forget all about this Derek Jensen guy.
He sweeps my hair to the side before he runs a long fingertip along the curve of my neck. I whimper and allow myself to get lost in what’s about to go down in this office. People on the other side are doing their jobs, earning a paycheck as they hustle and bustle around, with no idea of what’s about to happen in here.
Or maybe they do know. Maybe this is something Derek does all the time.
But I’m in here now, and he’s never done this with me before.
Not that I’ll be the one to change him, to get him to stop his wild ways and commit to me. Not that I even want that. But for a split second, I get lost in the fantasy anyway.
He turns me quickly around so his front is to my back, and his lips replace his finger on my neck. I groan with lust at the feel of those lips on my body, and then he bends me over his desk so fast I don’t even see it coming. I grunt as the edge of the desk knocks the wind out of me a little, but he doesn’t stop, doesn’t slow down. He runs those same fingertips along my spine, and then he reaches beneath my dress, not wasting a single moment. He probably doesn’t have time to waste. Our interview was scheduled for fifteen minutes, and we already wasted the first five talking.
He pulls my panties to the side, not bothering with things like removing our clothes, and sinks a long finger into me. My eyes roll back and my abdomen presses harder into the desk as I fight the urge to come all over his hand. There’s something so illicit, so hot, so wrong about what we’re doing right now. I love it. I want it. I crave it.
“Shit, that’s wet,” he murmurs with appreciation.
I hear the zip of his pants followed by the tear of a wrapper, and seconds later he plunges into me. He’s thick, so he slides in slowly to allow my body to adapt to his size. He pulls nearly all the way out before he thrusts back in, and once he’s coated with my wetness, he drives in harder and harder. Each thrust forces a grunt out of me, and each time he rears back and pushes forward again, I find myself closer and closer to ecstasy.
It’s only a few more thrusts before I lose control. I spiral down into the blackness of bliss, the pleasure spotting my vision as my hands clamp down on the edge of the desk to brace myself against the onslaught of an orgasm. My body pulses and I cry out with it, the soundtrack in this office our voices mingling in an orchestra of satisfaction. He grunts out his release after my body relaxes into his desk, and he pulls out nearly immediately after he finishes. He disappears into a private restroom connected to his office, and I smooth my dress back into place. I’m sitting back in the chair facing his desk when he returns.
He clears his throat. “My secretary will be in touch with whether you’ve earned your spot on the show early next week.” His face gives nothing away, yet I can’t believe what we just did didn’t earn me a spot.
I grin. “Thank you, Mr. Jensen.”
He doesn’t smile back like I expect him to—like most men would after what we just did. “You can see yourself out, Ms. Fuller.”
I nod and stand. I’m sort of at a loss for words. It’s not like I expect that we’ll do this again, but I did kind of expect to know by the time I left today whether I’d be one of the twenty women appearing on Single Life.
I don’t say anything, though. I allow his words to be the last ones spoken in the office as I walk out the door with my head held high.
I did what I had to do, and it’s not like I didn’t enjoy doing it.
I completely ignore the dirty feeling that washes over me as I walk out of the building and toward my rental car.
