Release Blitz & Review - Pretty Dirty - Madison Faye

Title: Pretty Dirty
Series: Dirty Bad Things #2
Author: Madison Faye
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: December 11, 2017

Blurb

My pretty little bad girl. My dirty little secret.

Pretty. Dirty.

And all mine.

Heard the one about the filthy rich mob lawyer and the cam girl with the broken past?

Yeah, me neither. But you’re about to.

I wasn’t looking for temptation, but I sure as sh*t found it. Young, fiery, dirty. The ink and the piercings. Those scars, just like mine. One look at Zoe, and I’m hooked. Addicted. Obsessed.

So I bought her. Fifty grand for three weeks, and she’s all mine. She needs saving, but I’m no prince charming. And helping her means crossing my employers – the dangerous Moretti crime family that runs Las Vegas.

But I can’t resist that sweet little body that’s begging to be claimed, or the soft, sultry way she says “harder” and “deeper”. I can’t tell her no when all I want to tell her is to get on her f*cking knees and say yes sir.

So I’ll keep her. I’ll protect her. She thinks she’s broken. I know she’s perfect. And I’ll stop at nothing to keep her safe.

I found her by accident. I’m keeping her by choice.

*Please note that while a connected storyline, each of the Dirty Bad Things books are completely standalone stories centered around one couple, with no cliffhangers or spoilers.

Dirty, filthy, and oh-so-sweet, with an utterly obsessed alpha hero, explosive insta-love, and enough kindle-melting steam to make you sweat. Get ready to get wrong in the right kind of way. HEA with NO CHEATING!

OUR REVIEW:

Talk about hot! This is a short read with a lot of hot and dirty sex. If you like erotica and are looking for something quick and fun to read, then this series is for you.  It has everything you need.

The plot of this story is simple, but satisfying. There is enough of a story to feel invested in the characters, but not so much that you feel the story was incomplete. There is a mob theme, but my only complaint about the book is that the mob aspect was down played.

The characters are good. Gray is such a hottie. Not only is he a former marine, but now he is a lawyer for the mob. Three of my favorite things in one! Zoe is a good character as well. She can be strong when she needs too, but knows when to rely on someone she can trust.  I like that she's also not perfect and she's comfortable with herself.

Holy dirty. This book promises dirty and it does not disappoint.  Man these characters explode together.  This is erotica at its best. The scenes between these characters can make even the dirtiest minds blush.

The pace of this book is fast, but it fits with the feel of the book. This is a short story so in order for anything to happen,  it has to happen fast. I also liked that the author included other characters, two of which were in book 1. I like the interconnecting stories.

Overall, this is one hot and dirty read. I wouldn't recommend you read this in a public space.  It is guaranteed to make you hot and bothered.  I can't wait to read more!

Single-minded alpha hero, sinfully taboo relationships, and wildly over-the-top
scenarios. If you love it extra dirty, extra hot, and extra naughty, this is
the place for you! (Just don’t tell the other PTA members you saw her here…)

REVIEW - Miss Mechanic - Emma Hart

TITLE - Miss Mechanic
AUTHOR - Emma Hart

Released December 12th

BLURB:

Two mechanics. One rivalry.
She’ll prove she’s as good as she says she is.
He’ll prove her place isn’t under the hood.
It’s over it.

“Don’t let the bastards get you down.”
For twenty-six years, I lived by my daddy’s motto. Which is why “Mechanic Wanted” is all it takes for me to apply for the job at the garage we once owned.
And I meet the biggest bastard of them all.
Dexter Ryne. Hotter than Hell in July and a firm believer that my place is on reception, taking phone calls and looking pretty. Not getting dirty under the hood of a car.
Determined to prove each other wrong, we make a deal.
I have three weeks to prove my worth as a mechanic. If I don’t, I’m on telephone duty.
If I do, he’ll accept defeat and make my job permanent.
Now, all I have to do is fight my attraction to the cocky little… beep.
Problem is, an engine isn’t the only thing he knows how to make purr…

Johnaka's Review:

“A woman in a man’s world, 5 stars”

Women don’t belong in the garage, or at least women that look like Jamie. That’s Dex’s opinion and there is no changing that. A measly three weeks’ time won’t change that. Dex thinks he knows what he wants when it comes to a woman only for Jamie to blow those ideas out of the water. The sooner he accepts that the sooner they can be together, or so he hopes. Between her hot temper and his crazy family who knows how it will play out.

Jamie grew up working on cars. Motor oil runs through her veins. She was heartbroken when her family shop was closed. Now there is a new owner and he needs another mechanic, a position she’s more than qualified for. Jamie and Dex don’t start off on the right foot at all, both out to prove the other wrong. But somewhere along the line they not only earn each other’s respect but they start to *gasp* like each other! What will happen if that raging mouths collide in the bedroom?

I loved how strong and sure Jamie was of herself. Dex might have been stuck in his ways to start with but quickly changed his tune. I loved how these two communicated with witty, sarcastic banter. They were absolutely explosive. I laughed when they finally realized that maybe their families had it right all along. Seriously go one-click if you need a good laugh. Miss Mechanic was a quick read that left me satisfied at the end. I saw the story playing out in my head like a movie. To me it was realistic, and you’ll probably feel the same way.

So, I burned his house down.
It was an accident.
I mean, technically, the dog did it.
Well, the dog helped me to do it.
Did I mention it was an accident?

A man who is my ultimate fantasy,
And my entire world is turned upside down by new friends,
And a dog who likes to get me into trouble,
I have to wonder how my life got so crazy.

And lives are on the line,
Will we all make it through in one piece?
Or is everything destined to crumble down around us?
Who would have thought that burning down a house would change everything so much?
Then again, as some people say: there is nothing quite like love at first … crime.

Trying not to feel like a loser that I have Joey’s number memorized, I dial, hoping like hell he picks up. It has to be in the incredibly early hours of morning, so there is every chance, if he hasn’t come home yet, it’s because he’s out with someone and won’t answer.

After five, drawn-out, torturous rings, he finally picks up.

“What?” he grumbles. I can’t tell if I woke him up, or if he’s just annoyed to be disturbed.

“Hey, Joey, it’s Teagan—”

“Who?”

I pause, annoyed I’m so forgettable he can’t remember who he gave his house key to! “Teagan Bevon, the woman who lives next door?”

“Oh … Oh!” There is finally recognition in his voice. “Right. Look, Teags”—he sounds so distracted I don’t think he even noticed he gave me a nickname—“I’m kinda busy—”

“But—”

“—so I’ll just see you later—”

“Wait!” I cry out, afraid I will hear the dial tone any second.

“Actually, you probably won’t see me later. I’m going to be—”

“I BURNED YOUR HOUSE DOWN!” I scream into the phone and am finally met with silence. “Joey?” I whisper, fearful he already hung up.

“Can you repeat that for me?” he finally gasps out.

“I …” Now I feel nervous. “I … umm … I accidently”—I use too much emphasis on the word, making me sound extra guilty—“burned down your house.”

“Are you okay?”

My heart skips a beat. I just told this man that I burned down his house and his first thought is if I’m okay?

“Some smoke inhalation, but nothing serious. I’m so sorry about your things—”

“How about Karma?”

“Karma got out fine. She’s with the Glovers,” So … maybe she’s not okay. The almost ninety-year-old couple may not be quite at the same speed as Karma.

As he sighs in relief, my hands begin to shake again.

“Joey, I’m so sorry.”

This is an author to watch! I really enjoyed book one in this series so when this one came up for review I thought, why not? Now I did not read book two, but I don’t feel I really missed too much. While I am sure it was a great book, it did not take away from this book as this book has a separate plot. I really enjoyed this book and the characters in it. I also loved that we got to see past characters as well.

You can guess from the title what the main theme of this book is. The main female burns down her neighbours house. Feeling guilty, she offers him to stay with her. The problem is she is about to get way more than she bargained for. This is such a wonderful book. I love books with a bit of mystery and action. This book gave me this.

Teagan is such a beautiful character. She is witty and has a life force about her. I love how she is the one who gets sucked into this group of people and pulls out parts from them that they didn’t realize they were missing. I think she is a very important piece to this group of friends. Joey isn’t so bad himself. He is described as a hot Asian dude. Sign me up. He would probably be my book boyfriend from this group.

The heat in this book is not lacking. As you can imagine, two people who are virtually strangers moving into a house together can cause some tension. Thankfully, in this case, it is sexual tension. This translates into each and every one of their interactions with each other. It also is the catalyst that Teagan needed in her life.

I love the way this author writes. Just like the first book, I got sucked right into this world. I wanted to finish it in one sitting, but unfortunately I had to work. That did not stop me from thinking about it all day until I could get home and finish it. I bought book two so I can go back and read it too. That is how much I enjoyed this author.

In conclusion, this was one flipping amazing book. I do have to say the ending is a little bitter sweet, but it was totally worth the ride. I really hope this series continues and we get to see these characters a little more. I love the theme of this whole series. Love at first crime really has a ring to it.

REVIEW - The Sounds of Secrets - Whitney Barbetti

TITLE - The Sound of Secrets
AUTHOR - Whitney Barbetti

BLURB:

I've been in love with him forever.

But to him, I've always been off-limits. Until the night that changed everything.

Maybe it was the alcohol. Maybe it was the secrets we shared. Maybe he finally opened his eyes and saw me.

By the time the sun rose, I’d lost him again, my heart shattering on his parting words: “It was a mistake.” So I ran. Ran until I was thousands of miles away, in a country I didn't know, surrounded by people who only made me miss him more.

I never expected him to follow me … or to pry more secrets from my soul. In exchange, he gave me more of his secrets too.

How was I to know it was the secrets we didn’t share, the words we didn’t dare utter, that would tear us apart?

Johnaka's Review:

“Secrets can confine us, 4 stars”

Everyone has secrets, some big, some small. Some of us accumulate secrets, we are the secret keepers, and that’s exactly what Lotte is. When people look at Lotte they see a sweet naïve girl.  But there is so much more to her than what meets the eye. The Sounds of Secrets is a story of Lotte really becoming a woman, accepting herself, and really falling in love.

Sam is Lotte’s brother-in-law’s best friend. He’s always liked Lotte but never felt like he’s good enough for her. See Sam has secrets of his own that bind him. But what will happen if he’s good enough? If his best friend would accept him with his little sister? Is Lotte worth the risk? Before any of that he has to share his secrets and that alone is scary.

I really enjoyed Lotte and Sam. Watching them accept who they are and the changes they need to make was refreshing. I enjoyed getting glimpses of Ame’s and his life as well. My only complaint is I wanted more at the end. The Sound of Secrets is more about them as individuals and finding themselves vs. them as a couple, so I wanted to see at the end the changes they made.

If you want a easy read about ones who have their own struggles and find strength in each other than The Sounds of Secrets is definitely a read for you.

Excerpt

I was going
to throw up from the nerves.
No, I told myself. No throwing up. Not
when you’re expecting Sam to come into your room any second.
But the
feeling was so strong. I popped a mint from my bedside table in my mouth, rolled
it around my tongue a few times, but the urge was still there.
Oh, shit.
Was this a mistake? Was inviting Sam into my room a big fat problem? I was
leaving for America tomorrow.
The printed
itinerary, neatly stacked on my chest of drawers laughed at me. What was I
going to do? I couldn’t let Sam come up here.
My hands
fisted in my hair as I berated myself for telling him to come. What was I
thinking? I wasn’t some sexual nymph, skilled in the way Sam surely was. I
wasn’t a virgin, but I hadn’t actually messed around with a bunch of guys.
I didn’t
know what to do.
I walked to
the door, pressed my palm flat to it. I’d lock it. Then he couldn’t come in.
He’d walk away, and we’d forget this ever happened.
Look how well that happened the last time you
kissed him,
my
memory taunted me. Three years later, and
you’re still wondering ‘what if.’
There was
no reasonable escape from this situation. And, if there was, there was no
escape that would make me not obsess over the ‘what if.’
It’d be
okay, I told myself. Of course it would. Sex was nothing, right?
But I
didn’t even believe my own thoughts. My nerves battled with my own desire. I
couldn’t process a single thing.
I ran my
fingers over my eyebrows or, what was left of them that wasn’t colored in, at
least. I’d pulled so many out in the days leading up to the trip, needing some
control over this impending trip.
I trailed
my fingers to the sides of my face, tugging on my earlobes to ground me, and
then, in tandem, I pulled out a hair with each hand. The immediate relief was
nearly as intoxicating as the alcohol I’d consume in how it numbed my fears.
It would be
okay.
I took in a
cleansing breath, looking around my room for anything potentially embarrassing.
The blinds
were open, so I closed them, leaving my room in soft, muted grays aside from
the yellow lamp that lit up my dressing table.
My hand was
on the back of the lamp to turn it off when my door creaked open.
Sam stood
in the threshold, nearly taking up the entire space.
I switched
the light off.
It was only
a few loud heartbeats before he said, “Turn it back on.”
I
hesitated.
I couldn’t
see him, but I heard the creak on the floor by the door. “Turn it on, Lotte.”
Swallowing
hard, I did.
The room
was illuminated again in soft light, casting shadows into the angles of Sam’s
face—making him look exactly as he was: dangerous.

I am a wife to one and a mom to two humans and one cat. I have a deep and abiding love for nachos - especially the kind with the liquid cheese, like from Taco Bell (sorry). I run on less than four hours of sleep thanks to copious amounts of Diet Coke. (Note: this paragraph is not sponsored by anyone except my hungry stomach.)

As a Navy brat, I grew up all over the country, from California and up the east coast from Florida to New England and Colorado. I currently live in Idaho, where we have lots of potatoes and windmills.

I write character-driven contemporary romance novels, heavy on the emotional connection. I LOVE love. I love writing about broken characters who find their soul mates.
