REVIEW - Always You - Denise Grover Swank

TITLE - Always You
AUTHOR - Denise Grover Swank

Releases November 28th

BLURB:

First love is better the second time around.

Matt Osborn had no idea coaching his five-year-old nephew's soccer team would get him so much attention from the mothers-attention he doesn't want now that he's given up on love and having a family of his own. Yep, Matt's the last of his bachelor buddies, and plans on staying that way. That is, until he finds himself face-to-face with the woman who broke his heart.

Single mom Anna paused her life in England to help her father recover from an illness. She can't afford complications, and too-hot-for-his-own-good Matt Osborn-her almost former fiancé-is definitely a complication. He's a reminder of what might have been-or should have been. That irresistible pull between them isn't over. Not even close. But if she's not careful, she'll break both their hearts . . . again.

Johnaka's Review:

“Second chance, 5 stars”

Ahhh…Anna and Matt….I loved them. This is one of those stories where you meet your soulmate too young only to have them show up at the most unlikely time. There is no denying they love each other even after twelve years, but they are older and wiser. They know not everything works out the way you hope, and now they have little people they have to put ahead of themselves.

Matt has only loved one woman, but she’s long gone. He always planned on the white picket fence, dog, and kid’s life. Only all he has is his nephew. Matt is taking the steps needed to get the life he wants when Anna shows up at his nephew’s soccer practice. Only she’s not there for him, she’s there for her son.

Anna knew she needed to leave and spread her wings and in doing so she broke her own heart. Now she’s pack in town even though it’s not long term and has her son in tow. She’s there long enough to enrol him in school and activities. What she didn’t expect was to see Matt and for him to be the uncle of her son’s new best friend.

Will they be able to stay cordial or will they cross the line of pleasantries and get personal once again? I loved the way Matt loved not only Anna but her son. Anna’s desire never to upset Matt was admirable and I could see where she was coming from.

Matt’s nephew and Anna’s son play a huge roll in this story and I absolutely loved them. I am crossing my fingers that somewhere down the line we get a book for each when they are old enough. Then of course the other secondary characters were awesome as well. It was an awesome read that felt like it went by way too fast, but wasn’t missing anything.

Author: Madison Faye
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: November 27, 2017

Blurb

She’s sweet, pure, and untouched, and she’s about to lose her innocence on camera. To me.

Trust me, I’m no porn star, even if I do have the equipment of one. But when the Moretti crime family comes calling to collect on a debt I owe, they want it in trade.

You see, there’s big money in dirty movies, and the more real, the better. Me? I’m already filthy, damaged goods from my time in Afghanistan.

But then I meet Rose, my “co-star”, and my whole world shatters.

She owes the Moretti’s too, but she’s too good for all of this. Too sweet, too beautiful - too innocent for this shit. And I’ll be damned if I let them steal that away from her.

It’s wrong that she’s here, but it’s also wrong that she wants me to “teach her” things. It’s worse that I want to.

But one taste of her lips, and I’m hooked. One touch of her soft skin, and I know Rose is going to be mine. Not the camera’s. Mine.

The virgin with the debt, the ex-marine with the dick, and a porno for the mob.

Welcome to Vegas, baby.

*Please note that while a connected storyline, each of the Dirty Bad Things books are completely standalone stories centered around one couple, with no cliffhangers or spoilers.

Dirty, filthy, and oh-so-sweet, with an utterly obsessed alpha hero, explosive insta-love, and enough kindle-melting steam to make you sweat. Get ready to get wrong in the right kind of way. HEA with NO CHEATING!

OUR REVIEW:

Hot and steamy! That is how I would describe this book. There is a lot of steam heating up this book. This is a short read that will give you a taste of the mafia world.

The plot of this book intrigued me. I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but the plot did entertain me. With that being said, I felt this book could use more content in it. I sort of felt like part of the story was missing for me.

I liked the characters well enough. They were both interesting and had a good back story. I wish we had more time for them to truly develop, but overall I enjoyed them.

There was no lack of heat in this book. I felt like every other scene was focused o on the heat. While this isn't a bad thing, I wish I had more story instead.

The writing style was good. The pace was a bit fast, but I expect that with a short read. I liked that there is some mafia in this book, but felt it was not the forefront of the story. I would be liked to explore that more.

Overall, I enjoyed this short read. I liked the plot and characters. While I felt I could've used more, the story was good. Good job.

#1 bestselling contemporary romance author Madison Faye is
the dirty alter ego of the very wholesome, very normal suburban housewife
behind the stories. While she might be a wife, mom, and PTA organizer on the

beneath the surface!

Tired of keeping them hidden inside or only having them come out in the
bedroom, they’re all here in the form of some wickedly hot stories.
Single-minded alpha hero, sinfully taboo relationships, and wildly over-the-top
scenarios. If you love it extra dirty, extra hot, and extra naughty, this is
the place for you! (Just don’t tell the other PTA members you saw her here…)

Release Blitz - The Warden - M.C. Cerny

Title: The Warden
Author: MC Cerny
Genre: Steamy Contemporary Romance
Release Date: November 21, 2017

Convicted.
Imprisoned.
At only nineteen.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse...

I met him.
Cohen Shephard.
The Warden.
With his sexy eyes, controlling demeanor, and badass attitude,
I was his for the taking.
And he wants me...
To help him.
In return, he’ll clear my name.
After all, I’m Benedicta Cruz.
And I’m innocent.
To an extent.

But I want more.
So much more.

The Warden

The Warden - A sexy new novella by M.C. Cerny.

“Benedicta Alejandra Cruz, you are found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to…” I stopped listening when the verdict was read. I’d never experienced depression, but I was sure my parents had to be rolling in their graves. Their only daughter, their hope for the future, was about to be shackled in silver, skin biting cuffs and sent to prison.

In all of this chaos, the reading of the verdict was the first time I lost my last shred of hope. The grain striations of the wooden table where I sat looked more interesting than the man in robes yammering on about my debt to society. What about the debt society owed me? This wasn’t a fair trial. It was a speedy trial with an easy conviction because I fit the bill, not because I was guilty.

Circumstantial evidence, my ass.

The judge continued speaking to me, but my eyes had glazed over. “…at least five years in prison and not more than ten as per the Texas statute. Given your youth and the likelihood that this act was committed out of provocation for your safety, I have no choice but to remand you to the state correctional unit in Colby. You will stay there for the duration of your incarceration until your parole hearing. Since your arrest, you have accumulated four months of time served.”

And then there was my lazy ass lawyer who was more interested in trying to bone me in the back of his powder blue 1991 Caddy Seville than getting the evidence to prove I didn’t do it. My anger simmered and with it my jaw clamped shut. Freaking out now would only give the entire courtroom justification for the sentence. No need to show them my crazy Latina side.

I clasped my hands together to keep from punching my thighs or slapping the table in anger while the judge droned on. “That time will be credited to your remaining sentence. Do you have anything you wish to say?” The judge graced me with a fatherly glance before giving a deep sigh that marred his weathered face with a frown. He was gruff, and no-nonsense, looking me over as if he waited for my meltdown and only hesitated a moment for my response, which wasn’t forthcoming.

My face flamed, hot and shamed, but not with guilt for the crime I’d been charged with and found guilty of, but because there was nothing for me to say. People who knew me would have said I was full of fire, but today, it felt like a torrential rain had beaten me down to sputtering smoke and ash.

“May she burn in hell! Puta!” Damp air speckled my cheek from the spittle that flew in my direction from just a dozen feet away.

“I make her suffer too! An eye for an eye is my vengeance!” A pencil hit my cheek, grazing the skin, and I ducked down to avoid further abuse. The prosecutor stood up defensively as I sat there numbly taking the verbal insults. My hands were high over my head in surrender.

“Enough! Sit down, Mrs. Espina, or I’ll hold you in contempt! Bailiff!” the judge fired back, because hey, what’s a blanket threat when I’ve already been convicted? Bailiffs standing against the wall took one step forward in a languid attempt to hold her back from the first lunge at me. She managed to knock papers and glasses of water over, spilling the liquid on my lawyer in her effort to hit and slap me. I knew better than to touch her when the judge slammed his gavel down repeatedly urging those lazy guards to break it up. She got lose, able to reach me and my cheek rung with the violence of her backhand. I nearly toppled from my chair, my shoulder and arm up to protect me from a second strike.

Anything I did now would have been self-defense, not that this court understood that at all. After all, she was the mother of the man I’d supposedly killed almost five months earlier. Grant’s mother thought I deserved what I got. It’s kind of hard to convince the world you’re innocent when your fingerprints are all over the tire-iron that bashed his head to smithereens.

M.C. Cerny fell in love with books after experiencing her first real ugly cry reading, Where The Red Fern Grows. Her debut romantic suspense novel, Flashpoint was written in a series of post-it-note ramblings that would likely make her idol Tom Clancy and her mother blush. She is a post graduate of NYU and calls rural NJ home with her menagerie of human and feline fur-babies. When M.C. is not writing, you’ll find her lurking in Starbucks, running stupid marathons, singing Disney show tunes, and searching out the perfect shade of pink nail polish.

REVIEW - Doggie Style - Piper Rayne

TITLE - Doggie Style
AUTHOR - Piper Rayne

BLURB:

Rumours never bothered me. If people want to guess at my sexuality because I design dog clothes for a living—let them. I know the truth.

I’m a red-blooded heterosexual male and just because I don’t have my tongue hanging out of my mouth around every female like my dog Cooper, doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the female form.

Now with Teegan Lowery in my life I’m suddenly panting right next to Cooper, hoping for a taste.

I hired her for her stellar PR skills, but she’s slowly weaselling her way into a spot I’ve kept a NO VACANCY sign on for years. Everything about Teegan screams unavailable. The last thing I need is another dramatic, high maintenance woman in my life. Believe me, been there and done that.

But the sexual tension between us is like a game of tug-of-war and neither of us wants to lose.

I love dogs.
She hates them.
Turns out, we both love doggie style.

A SEXY STANDALONE ROMCOM!

Johnaka's Review:

“Sometimes one breaks the stereotypes, 4 stars”

Leo, Leo, Leo…the dude can’t catch a break! He came to L.A. with one thing in mind and ended up doing something completely different but making his own mark. He got into the dog grooming and clothing business and life has been crazy busy ever since. After a disastrous experience with a crazy woman he doesn’t make time for dating. Everyone questions which team he bats for and he lets them because he’s never had a reason to correct them…until now.

Teegan is high strung, which is typical for someone in the PR business. Especially one who decides to go off on her own and has no clients except for one. Teegan is a control freak where Leo is as cool and calm as one can get. She wants to push Leo to become the best he can be. Only that’s a little difficult when you can’t tell which way he swings.

Leo and Teegan are polar opposites and I liked the way they made each other better. They really did balance each other well. I still loved the secondary characters even though there was one I wanted to beat, but you can’t like everyone. I really did enjoy Doggie Style, but for some reason can’t rate it a 5. That may be because I had to review it while going through one heck of a book hangover though from a previous review. Who knows later on I may come back after re-reading Doggie Style and change it to a 5. I still love Piper and Rayne and can’t want to see what kind of story they give Jagger.

Piper Rayne, or Piper and Rayne, whichever you prefer because we’re not one author, we’re two. Yep, you get two established authors for the price of one. You might be wondering if you know us? Maybe you’ll read our books and figure it out. Maybe you won’t. Does it really matter?

We aren’t trying to stamp ourselves with a top-secret label. We wanted to write without apology. We wanted to not be pigeon holed into a specific outline. We wanted to give readers a story without them assuming how the story will flow. Everyone has their favorite authors, right? And when you pick up their books, you expect something from them. Whether it’s an alpha male, heavy angst, a happily ever after, there’s something you are absolutely certain the book will contain. Heck, we’re readers, too, we get it.

What can we tell you about ourselves? We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We're both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We're both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.
