Pre-Release Blitz & Review - Slam - Andee Michelle

Title: Slam: A Colorado Smoke Novel
Author: Andee Michelle
Genre: Sports Romance
Release Date: August 18, 2017

Bryant “Slam” Nash is known for three things…

His intensity on the field,

His drive to win the World Series,

And scoring on the first date.

Gearing up for the biggest season of his career, Slam is determined to focus on his game, calling a time out on anything considered a distraction. Including Layne Scott.

Layne Scott doesn’t do complicated.

Independent and focused on raising her daughter, Layne is a woman running a business dominated by men. Managing the sports bar her father left her, she has no time for the arrogant ball player who keeps strutting through her door. With chiseled good looks in baseball pants, Slam Nash is a temptation she can’t afford.

Game on…

OUR REVIEW:

“Love finds you when you least expect it to, 5 stars”

Slam is the first novel of Andee’s that I have read and I am happy to tell you I enjoyed it. When I accepted to review Slam I did it based on the fact it’s a story about a baseball player, see I love baseball players so it’s an automatic one click for me. Slam though is a little different than most sports stories I read.

You have Bryant “ Slam” Nash who in his younger years was a ladies man. Now he’s older and not into the constant one-night stands, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to settle down. Bryant witnessed love between his parents, but with his life revolving around baseball he hardly sees relationships lasting. So, when he walks into a bar and meets the pretty owner he’s caught off guard when he asks her out. When he kisses her and he sees everything he has always wanted but never thought he’d get flash before his eyes he runs. Will he see the light before it’s too late to get the girl?

Layne is a bar owning single mom. She has no time for men, her life revolves around her daughter. When Bryant walks into her bar she knows who he is right from the start but recognizes his need for solitude. What surprises her is the easy flow of conversation between the two. Layne decides she’s ready to try a relationship, when Nash makes it clear he’s not ready she decides to try elsewhere. Only that doesn’t sit well with him.

You read about these two who have an undeniable chemistry that go from fighting it to embracing it. They both accept that most of their energies are not placed on each other but elsewhere. For Bryant its winning World Series, Layne it’s her daughter. Bryant falls easily for Layne’s daughter. He gets along with Layne’s daughters father. They both embrace each other’s best friend. And probably my favorite part is Layne probably loves baseball just as much as he does. Really, it’s a story about accepting where, who, and what you’re supposed to be doing.

Here are a couple pieces of the story I enjoyed;

“Gentleman in the streets, grand slam in the sheets.”

“Now, please, for the love of all things holy, take your clothes off and get up on this bed with me.”

“My dad always told me that one day I’d meet a woman that would turn my world upside down. He was right.”

Although Andee grew up a military brat and traveled the world with her family, she has made her home in southwest Idaho with her husband and two sons. Working in the legal field, shuttling her boys around, chasing her two crazy dogs and reigning in her adrenaline junky husband keeps her busy. She has always had a passion for reading and writing, even as a child. Andee loves a great glass of wine, reading late into the night, and spending time in the mountains with her family and friends.
