REVIEW - The Manny: The Dirty Truth Series - Piper Rayne

TITLE - The Manny: The Dirty Truth Series
AUTHOR - Piper Rayne

Released October 19th

BLURB:

Secrets and lies are a killer way to start any partnership—especially a horizontal one.

Now, I’m a glass half full kinda of guy, so, after the ‘you’re fired’ speech was directed at me, I figure now’s the time to be the screenwriter I came to sunny California to be. Unfortunately, there are about as many people trying to sell a script in L.A. as there are vegans in the pacific northwest.

But lucky for me, a few weeks ago my agent found an investor for my script. Hooray, all my problems are solved! NOT.

Because the investor will only agree to fund my film if I use one specific actress. And that one specific actress? Well of course, it just has to be the same actress I screwed over only months before. But she doesn’t need to know about that one tiny detail, does she? All that matters is getting her to agree to do the film and I’ll do whatever it takes. We can leave the past, in the past, right?

I thought my charm would win her over. Never would I have been prepared for the terms she laid out on the table.

She needed a nanny.
I needed a lead actress.
Somehow I became The Manny.

Johnaka's Review:

“Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, 5 stars”

Have you ever struck a deal that you wonder if you’ll regret? But you know in the long run you’ll get what you wanted out of the deal? Then once you're fulfilling your end of the deal you stop and wonder if you got in over your head. Yep, that’s basically how Vance felt I’m 99% sure. And his discomfort made me laugh my butt off, then had me swooning once he found his stride.

Vance has done what he’s always wanted to do since he came to L.A. He wrote a script for a movie and is this close to turning it into a movie, but there is one stipulation his investor has, make Layla the leading lady. Only problem is him and Layla don’t have the best of history, one of which Layla and the investor don’t know about. Will he be able to convince her to take a chance on him and his script?

Layla has had enough. She’s a tired, overworked mom just trying to do her best. Her ex is never around to help and she can’t keep a nanny around long enough to say she has one. It’s not that her kids are bad, just a little attention starved. When she finds Vance on the stairs of her trailer to talk about her movie she’s about to break. Instead of showing him her weakness she decides to strike a deal, one that makes him a temporary manny for three weeks.

Vance never expected to fall for the kids let alone their mom. But when you know you know. Layla doesn’t know if she can go through another relationship, she’s been burned by one too many, but for Vance she’s willing to try. I loved these two, they were hot and literally made for each other. I adored Layla’s littles and can totally relate because I have a daughter the same age as her son. Vance’s two buddies? I am more than looking forward to getting to know them and their stories. Cheers to Piper and Rayne for knocking another one out of the park!
