I waited ten years for the right guy, then four come along at once.

I wasn’t even looking for my Mr Right. I thought I’d found him and he was just waiting for that perfect moment to pop the question. When the time came it was far from perfect The event left me a humiliated, broken-hearted mess.

Still, a person would have to be batshit crazy to do what I’ve done, or I’m about to do.

I’m Orange County bound with all my worldly possessions crammed into five suitcases and an agreement to marry one of four complete strangers.

I just don’t know which one of the four men it’s going to be.

No need to panic.

I have a whole month to make my decision. Who would do such a thing? No sane woman that’s for sure, but then with a name like Seraphim, I was never going to normal.

Hi, you can call me Finn.

Excerpt

“Stay, Finn…please,” she mutters, her fat lip wobbling. She’s killing me.

“I can’t, Hope” I shake my head and the heaviness in my heart, the sadness I feel is a fraction of the sorrow I have endured and she knows this. “I wasted ten years of my life with a man who had no intention of marrying me H, and he even took delight in humiliating me about that fact in front of all my friends. He made me feel utterly worthless and now...” I stutter and draw in a fortifying breath, “I have these men and one of them promised to marry me. I get to choose…me, I—” I clamp my mouth shut at my apocalyptic fuck-up.

“Men?” she snaps.

“Man, I meant man.” I wave my hand to dismiss my seemingly silly mistake,

“You said men,” Hope corrects and then gasps. “Finn you didn’t answer that advert?” Her hands fly to her mouth, eyes like saucers and we both suck in a shocked breath.

“I…I…—” I can’t construct a sentence. She steps up to me and interrupts so I don’t have to. I wish she didn’t.

“That’s who you’ve been talking to so secretively these last three months every spare minute. That’s what all this gym shit you’ve been dragging me to morning, noon, and night for the last three months has been all about. It’s because you need to be fit enough to take on four guys?” She stares at me and her mouth is open so wide it’s comical, but I’m not laughing. I’m waiting for the scream, the howl of judgement to rain down on my slutty arse. I draw in a breath and brace.

“Yes.” I tip my chin and time comes to a halt…and continues to halt I frown at my friend, the statue. Her wide emerald eyes are fixed and focused, though I’m not sure on what. I wave my hand in from of her face but she doesn’t flinch. Is it possible to be catatonic standing up?

“Hope? Are you okay? You’re kind of freaking me out.” I look around to see if anyone else is observing my friend’s weird behaviour, but no one is paying us any attention. Well, other than the parking officer who is scowling between Dolly and the No Waiting sign. “Hope!” I hiss a little loud, and she blinks and gives a full body shudder, regaining her senses.

“Four guys?” she asks with a degree of aw in her tone.

I hesitate but answer.

“Yes.”

“At one time?” She arches a brow and her lips begin to curl into a wicked smirk.

“Not necessarily. We haven’t actually gone over the logistics,” I reply, a little straight-laced given the topic, but we’re hardly in a secret-sharing environment.

“But they wanted a twenty year old?”

Her incredulous face pisses me off and I place my hands on my hips and tip my chin, my tone is a little on the defensive side.

“Well, they got a mid-to-late twenty-year-old, that has worked her arse to knock the last several years off her clock…literally.” I straighten my back and subtly tighten my tummy in lieu of drawing in an obvious slimming breath.

“Oh babe, you do. You look smoking hot don’t worry about that.” She pats my arms and flashes her best friend reassuring smile. “No. You need to worry more about the fact that you don’t have enough holes, because babe, that’s something you can’t fix at the gym.” She bites her lip to hold in her trademark filthy laugh, but I crack first and she’s quick to follow. She throws back her head, full on belly aching, dirty laughter falling from her lips, eyes streaming, shaking her head. “Oh my God, you’re going to be kept busy around the cock.” She doubles over at her own joke and waves me down because I think she has another. “They’re in the Forces right? They’re going to want everything to run like cockwork.”

“Okaaaay then, are we finished?” I pat her back as she attempts to regain her composure.

“Sorry. So sorry…too tempting, but you’re right, you have a flight to catch…the cock is ticking. No time to be dicking around now.” She snorts out another laugh.

“Hope.” I sigh.

“Look, Finn. I still think you’re batshit insane, but if you have to go crazy at least you’ll have lots of nuts to keep you company.” She pulls me in for a final hug, but I can see she’s genuinely smiling, and her face is a little wet from her tears, but her expression doesn’t hold any anxiousness or tension. There’s a little worry, but that’s understandable. Maybe I should’ve told her sooner. “I just want you to promise to do one thing for me.” She clears her throat and her tone is soft but serious.

“What’s that?” I ask and wait with bated breath for her to tell me what she’ll need from me to ease her mind, and if it’s anything within my power. She hesitates a moment before her shoulders start to shake.

“Pictures…I want lots of pictures.” She snickers some more.

“I’m gone. I’ll call you when I land.” I turn on my heel and start to push the half-tonne trolley away from my best, but annoying friend.

“With pictures!” she calls after me.

“Sure, with pictures.” I turn my back to the trolley, so I’m facing her but pushing the beast up the ramp, away from the cars.

“You go, girl. Take one for the team! Oh wait, no. Take four with the team!” she shouts over the entire departures drop-off area, with the volume of a crowd control foghorn.

Release Blitz & Review - The Bet- D.K. Combs

Title: The Bet
Author: D.K. Combs
Release Date: March 1, 2017

❤ N E W   R E L E A S E ❤
❤ Only .99 for March 1st❤

The Bet by D.K. Combs is live!

“Now, when we do happen to encounter each other at places that are not mentioned on the list, we will not do the following: hug, kiss, jump, hump, rub, or grind on each other. There will be no penetration with the following: finger, tongue, or penis. And, last but not least, the following holes will not be prodded—”
“Okay, okay, that’s enough,” he said, holding his hands up.
She frowned, looking at the paper. “I’m not done with my list. I need to lay everything out in clear terms so that things like last night do not happen again.”
“Trust me, I can fill in the blanks.” He took a drink of his coffee, then set it down.
Bristol huffed, wiping her hands down the front of her skirt. Now that that was done and over with, she felt like a giant weight had been lifted off her shoulders. Her life could go back to normal, and— “Excuse me. What are you doing?”
He shrugged, coming around the desk. She backed up until her head was up against the pin board, the calendar's glossy paper crinkling behind her.
“You know what?” Noah asked, staring down at her. She swallowed thickly, words caught in her throat with no chance of escaping. “Every single thing you put on that list? I’m going to make it my goal to do the exact opposite of it.”

Blurb:
Make her orgasm, right there in the theater. This was the bet that started the end, the bet that changed his life.

Catfished and stuck with a sleezeball for a date, Bristol is miserable and angry. Screw Tinder and swiping right, she just wanted a quick one night stand. With a fake as her date, she doesn't expect the night to end on a good note...until she sees him. When her eyes land on the dark, sinfully handsome man at the concession stand of the movie theater, she's unprepared when he sits right next to her.

Every bet has a price; it's just a matter of how far you're willing to go.

Noah never would have guessed that the haughty, condescending woman he saw at the concession line would turn out to be a fireball of lust and desperation. Getting her to climax in the middle of a movie? No problem. Getting her out of his head afterward? Definitely a problem.

Our Review:

Wow! The Bet sure did surprise me. From the blurb, I really was not sure if I was going to enjoy this book. I am sure glad that I decided to take a chance on this book because it was well worth it. This book has hot and sexy scenes along with some comedy and romance! Everything a girl looks for in a good book!

The plot of this book intrigued me. The blurb is vague, but basically makes this book seem like it is more of an erotica rather than a novel. Honestly, I think the blurb should be rethought as I feel it might turn some readers off as it almost did me. What this book is actually about is much more. We find out pretty quickly about the two characters and what their motivations are. Noah has a lot riding on the bet while Bristol is just trying to make it through life. I am struggling to find words to describe it because I am afraid to give away too much so you should just go read this book.

Each character has a journey to go on through this book. Bristol is a workaholic who views male companionship as expendable. Noah has a lot going on with his life, but I feel he has a moral compass. Even with that, he makes some questionable decisions. I think this book shows that sometimes things are not black and white. You can’t always judge people based on first impressions, and you cannot always judge someone based on the actions without getting the details behind why.

If you are looking for a book to bring the heat, this is the book for you. The chemistry between these two characters is tangible. We start off this book with one of the hottest scenes in the book, the movie theater where it all begins. Let me tell you, this scene right here about melted my panties right off. This author did an amazing job building up the tension and knowing when to release it.

This author has a very easy to read writing style. The use of dual points of views adds a depth in this story that I am thankful for. While at first this book seems to be fast paced, it slows down to a comfortable and organic pace. I really have nothing bad to say about the writing style in this book.

Overall, this is a wonderful book that I am so glad I took a chance on. The only complaint I really have is not really about the book, it is about the blurb. I would recommend this book to others. I thought this was a really well written book with dynamic characters and a lot of heat.

“Who knew a bad boy could mend a broken heart."

What does a girl do after she discovers her fiancé is a cheating bastard?

In my case, I performed the ritual implosion of all scorned women. I drowned my sorrows in cases of white wine, wallowed in gallons of ice cream, and ignited a bonfire to burn away every damn remnant of his existence. Six months later, the only result was a permanent impression of my ass on the couch.

Adventure Dating my friends dared.
A new and exciting opportunity they said.
I thought they were crazy, but I’m not one to back down from a challenge, so I signed up for the entire four-week deal.

That’s where I saw HIM. Lucas Cummings. He isn’t the classic rich boy I usually end up with. The one whose idea of working up a sweat is waiting for his margarita to be served on the beach. Nope. He’s a rough and tough bad boy that all fathers warn their daughters about. You know the type. Cocky swagger, chiseled jaw—the ‘V’.

SOLD, I said to myself, until I discovered he was so much more than just a BOXER.

Left Hook.

Right to the heart.

Our Review:

So this book starts where the first book - The Bartender left off with Tahl finding out her fiance, Chase cheating on her and left her heartbroken. Whitney and Lennon have seen enough of Tahl just moping around, so they took her out to an event. A boxing event. That is when she bumps into Lucas standing in line. She doesn't know it yet but Lucas is the boxer tonight-the underdog. Well after a few drinks , the night gets embarrassing and well her friends Whit and Lennon sign Tahl up for an adventure dating club for one month. Tahl doesn't want to do it but she's going to show her friends she isn't a quitter! Everywhere she goes she runs into Lucas.

I liked reading about Tahl and Lucas. Both of them keeping some personal info to themselves afraid of what the other will think. In the beginning Tahl was broken-hearted but with her friends help and having a sassy type attitude the more I could relate to her.
Lucus , damn what can I say about that guy. He is an alpha that is caring. Respects woman and holy hell he knows how to please. Oh and did I mention he is hot.

Piper Rayne continue with this modern love series. I love how there is more to the story than sex. Although the sex is good- It was getting hot in here! While reading, I could connect with the characters like I was there. The writing flowed nicely from chapter to chapter. I really am enjoying this Romantic-Comedy series.
I can't wait to read The Banker coming in April!

Excerpt

My mouth waters as the guy who propositioned me a half hour ago strips off his robe, revealing a set of abs I’m quite positive could wash the panties I just soaked. Jesus, he’s hot, with not one ounce of fat on him. His black silk shorts have a white band of fabric around his waist that says Raging Bull.

Lennon grabs my cup out of my hand.

“Hey,” I say, reaching for it.

“No, girl, you’re gonna want to be stone sober for this one. You don’t want to be like Whit the first night she and Cole got together.” She takes a sip, but I grab the cup back, knowing I need it more than I thought.

Especially when he glances down and a perfect set of sparkling teeth emerge, revealing a smile that has me gripping Lennon’s arm for support. Then he bites his bottom lip for a second, and my fingernails dig into Lennon’s bicep.

“Damn, I wish I saw him first.” Lennon’s voice sounds as dreamy as I feel. “You better ride him like you’re a fucking rodeo star, girl.” And there’s the Lennon I know and love.

The vodka man, now known as Lucas Cummings, turns around, continuing to bounce on his toes.

Sammie’s voice rings out once more, and another boxer enters with four bodyguards and a red silk robe. He weaves through the ropes and stares down Lucas. Lucas laughs, egging him on, and my gut twists.

“The undefeated Brock ‘Lights Out’ Hayes,” Sammie announces, and the guy jumps around the ring, waving both fists in the air.

Lucas turns back toward us, but his attention is focused solely on another guy. A small man rushes in the ring, putting Vaseline on his cheeks and forehead.

“This is the real deal.” The excitement in Lennon’s voice increases.

Lucas keeps peeking over at me, an uptick on his lips each time. Eventually, the guy who I assume is his manager glances over our way to see what’s distracting him.

Whit tugs on my arm and leans in close. “Someone has caught the boxer’s attention,” she whispers and I wish my cheeks didn’t heat like they are.

“Because he’s thinking of all the ways he’s going to fuck her later,” Lennon adds, turning her head for only a second.

“What?” Whitney asks, in the dark on the whole situation.

“I met him at the bar. He asked me to meet him after,” I say, and Whitney’s eyes crinkle as if she doesn’t think that’s a good idea. So thinks the girl who resorted to Tinder.

“Like you’d do that,” she says confidently, and I bite my lower lip. The lip that is now a little tingly from what I assume is the Everclear. “Tahlia, don’t you think you should wait for your second one-night stand for someone of his…caliber?”

Cole peeks over her shoulder. “I met him a few weeks ago when I came to watch the fights. Seems like an okay guy.”

Whitney raises her hand, and it smacks Cole in the face. He grabs his nose.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” She glances at him for a second before her eyes set on me again like a mother scolding her teenager.

“No, babe, it’s my fault. I know better than to try to get in the middle of a conversation between you three.” Cole touches his nose a few times and wiggles it around.

“Guess you’re not the kinda guy to jump in that ring then.” Lennon laughs and points at him. Cole raises his eyebrows in her direction.

“Are you challenging me, Lennon?” Cole asks and the three of us laugh.

Whitney waves her hands around. “Forget that. Tahlia, you can’t go have a one-night stand with someone like him.”

I look past Whitney to Cole. “I think you need to go over the one-night stand rules. First one being, you don’t know the person. Second qualification, you pick the hottest guy.”

Cole laughs, but Whitney only becomes more agitated. I’m not sure why she’s giving me trouble. She’s the one who brought me here tonight.

“Tahl,” she sighs.

“Whit,” I mimic her tone. “I’m a grown woman. I’ll be fine.”

Lennon elbows me a few times. “The blood is about to spew,” she says and jumps up, screaming, “Go, black shorts!”

Lucas turns around to Lennon and then cocks an eyebrow in her direction. For a second, jealousy spikes within me, but when his gaze turns to me and he smirks, I melt. Unable to deal with the thought that the guy up in the ring could be inside of me in a few hours, I tip the rest of my Everclear and down it.

Blog Tour & Review - Cole - Tijan

He was the leader of the mafia. I was about to fall in love with him, and his name…Cole Mauricio.

Cole by Tijan is NOW LIVE!

Full Blurb

I shouldn’t have remembered him.
He was just a guy who walked through a restaurant. I didn't know his name. We never made eye contact. There was no connection between us at all.
But I could feel him.
The tingle down my spine. The command in his presence. The snap of tension in the air around him. That was the first time I saw him, and I was captivated.
The second time was different.
He was in the mysterious back elevator of my apartment building. Our eyes met for a fleeting second before the doors closed, and I was staggered. My breath was robbed. My senses on high alert. My body hummed.
That was just the beginning.
He was the leader of the mafia. I was about to fall in love with him, and his name…
Cole Mauricio

Excerpt:

Once inside the elevator, I stood to one side, watching him. He returned my gaze.
We still did not touch.
My chest tightened, hoping no one would call the elevator at that moment. We sailed past the lobby, the second floor, and stopped at mine. I put in the code, and the doors opened to my home.
I drew in a breath, filling my lungs again. God, it was time.
Stepping out with shaky knees, I bypassed the light switch. The full moon lit up my entire floor. I went to the kitchen and paused at the island. “Did you want something to drink?” I caught sight of the tequila and wine on the counter. There was more than enough.
Cole stepped up behind me and followed my gaze. “Were you going to have a party?” he asked, his breath coating the back of my neck.
I shivered, closing my eyes for one delicious moment. “I stocked up. I thought a friend was coming over tonight.”
His hand rested on my back, nudging my sweater aside to touch my skin. “He?”
“She. Sia.” I looked over my shoulder. He was so close. “She stood me up for a date.”
A faint smile showed. “I need to send her a thank-you card.”
“Please don’t sign it.”
“Why not?”
I turned around, easing my back against the island. Cole placed his hands on either side of me, trapping me in place.
“Because she’s slightly obsessed with you, though she’s in love with someone else now. She could circle back,” I joked.
“Me?”
“We saw you one night.”
“When?” He leaned away, but his hands remained on the counter. It was like he was giving me breathing space on purpose.
“At Gianni’s. We went there the night I moved in.”
He didn’t move, but I could feel him pulling away. A protest started in my head, but I bit back the words. He didn’t reply. He was waiting for me instead.
I continued, “You came in with a bunch of men and went upstairs. That was it.”
His eyes narrowed. “Did you talk to anyone?”
“What do you mean?”
“The staff?”
“About you?”
“About anything.”
My forehead wrinkled. “Sia networked with the hostess. They exchanged cards. Sia said the girl was a model. She recognized her from the Gala. That was it. Oh, well, another server sat with us for a drink later on. But they mostly talked with Sia about the Gala and about photographers—stuff like that.”
He relaxed, his hands loosening their hold on the counter. I was scared to ask what he was so worried they’d told us.
“I don’t know who you are.” I lifted a hand, placing it on his chest. His heart was racing, just like mine. My mouth parted in surprise. “If that’s what you’re worried about.”
He glanced down at my hand and held still. He was thinking something over. I held my tongue, worried it was me, that he was second-guessing this night for us. I wanted to tell him there was nothing to worry about, but it sounded ridiculous. I really had no idea. So I waited it out, my heart pressing against my rib cage.
When he looked back up, the hunger was in his eyes again—dark, primal, and more evident than ever. He took my hand and leaned in, closing the distance between us. With his other hand, he cupped the side of my face. “I wasn’t second-guessing this. I want you to know that.” His touch was tender.
“What were you thinking about?”
“Something else, but it wasn’t you.”
“This is one of those moments where you wish you could tell me, but you can’t? Not yet?”
The corner of his mouth lifted. His eyes moved from mine to my lips. “Something like that, yes.”
“Mmmm-hmmm,” I started to tease, but then his head dipped down, and his lips were on mine.
I gasped. The pleasure was immediate. His mouth was gentle, but as he felt my body’s reaction, he applied pressure. His touch grew more demanding, then I was kissing him back. I wanted more. Someone groaned. That was me.
His hand slid around to the back of my neck. He held me in his grip as his mouth explored mine, opening over me and slipping inside. My hands grasped his shoulders, just holding on. All I could focus on was his tongue. I met his with mine and reveled in the sensation. But it wasn’t enough. Need shot through my whole body.
My hands slid under his shirt and moved over his back and shoulders. His body was just as powerful as his presence. I felt the shift of his muscles. They trembled under my hands. The feeling was intoxicating. I had power over him, and I wanted more. I wanted to see how much power I actually had.
Pulling back, I studied him.
He was panting lightly. So was I.
I could see him wondering what I was going to do, so I reached back to the counter and started to lift myself. His hands caught the backs of my thighs, and he lifted me the rest of the way. Now sitting on the edge of the island, my legs parted, and he was back between them. His mouth went right to mine.
I couldn’t get over what I was doing. I didn’t care.
I didn’t think I would care the next day, the day after, or however long this lasted. I had no clue. I only knew I had one night. One long night.

Our Review:

I NEED more Cole! That is the first thought that comes to mind when I think about this book. I just need more of him. Now I liked Carter, but I think Cole is my soulmate. I think it is fair to say that I loved this book. There is just something about a good old mafia novel set in modern times that makes a woman’s blood heat up. Not all of these novels get it right though. I am thankful to say that Cole by Tijan 1000% does it right!

The plot of this book is an interesting one. I honestly was not sure where this was going to go from reading the blurb. I was surprised at the direction the author took it, but surprises are good. I rarely enjoy predictable books.
This book has a whole air of mystery to it.

Addison, the main female, is kept in the dark about some aspects that we readers are aware of, especially if you read Carter Reed’s story first. With that being said, there is a whole other mystery going on in this book that even the readers are not privy to. I love this about the book. It kept me guessing.

Let’s talk characters. We have Cole, who I am in love with. He is strong and resilient, but is also fun and playful. I don’t know why, but I love a man who just bleeds danger from him. It excites me. My only complaint is I would like to see more from his point of view. Addison is a character on her own. She has some major baggage to get through. She is the main focus of this novel and I hope to read more about her in the future.

When you get Cole and Addison together, it is almost like the reader can see the sparks flying between the two. There is something about the two that makes readers really root for them. There is some sexual content in this book, but that is not what I love more about this book. I like the scenes between characters that don’t include sex, but still give you that heating up feeling. This book has plenty of those.

My only complaint about this book would have to be about the writing style. I like the way the book is laid out, but I feel it would have been more beneficial to read more parts from Cole’s point of view. I also felt at the end that there was this big build up and the conclusion was not really what I expected. With that being said, the book itself is amazing, just personally I would’ve preferred some things a bit different.

Overall, I love Cole for real. If I was not married, and he was not fictional, I think I would hunt him down. It is rare that an author’s character really grabs my attention like this, so this is high praise coming from me. I know we will be seeing more of Cole in the future in a third Carter Reed book, but I really hope he gets another book to himself as well. I would love to see how things turn out for him.

Author Information:

I didn't begin writing until after undergraduate college. There'd been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can't blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I'm hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.
