Release Blitz & Review - Washed Up Royal - Kim Karr

Title: Washed Up Royal
Author: Kim Karr
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 4, 2019

Blurb

From New York Times bestselling
author Kim Karr comes a dashing new, sexy standalone royal romance.

A simple notification turns my world upside
down...

The tabloids are reporting,
I’ve taken the crown and run. (Not
entirely true)

As you might have guessed,
I’m not an ordinary girl and I don’t lead an ordinary life,
But that doesn’t mean I always follow the rules.

This time, though, I feel compelled to obey.
Which means I have to find a king,
To sit alongside my throne,
Or lose it all.

With only
the clothes on my back,
I head to
the land of majestic playboys,
Where a royal rebel strides
right into my life.
With his
sultry eyes and sinful lips,
He turns my
world right-side up.

The press is calling him washed up. (I think he’s
anything but)

Gorgeous, sexy, irresistible,
And utterly charming,
He’s exactly what I’m looking for.

Everything is almost too perfect,
Too easy.

Until I discover,
This hot-blooded royal has a reason for being here.
And it’s more than just me.

That thing I said about easy,
Turns out…
Nothing ever is.

My royal rebel has a name,
It’s Prince Adrien Laurent.
My name is Princess Victoria Blanchette.
And this is our story.

OUR REVIEW:

“Chance encounter, 5 stars”

What happens when your life is falling apart? You have a one-night stand before you pick yourself back up. Princess Victoria needs to find a husband of royal blood to take back her crown. What she finds is Adrien and a whole lot of surprises. Has she found her King?

Adrien is a Prince by birth but that’s where it ends. When he meets Tori suddenly the life appeals to him. Can he be what she needs? Will he also be able to stop his cousin, a King from a venture he should not be partaking in with the help of Tori? Only one way to find out…

Washed up Royal is a sweep you off your feet kind of romance. What started as a chance encounter turned into so much more. I love royal romances and Washed up Royal totally fed my need for one. I loved the characters and became invested in some more than others. I can’t wait to see where Karr goes with her Royal series.

Release Blitz & Reviews - Deal Makers - Laura Lee

Title: Deal Makers

Series: Dealing With Love #3
Author: Laura Lee
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: January 4, 2019

Blurb

I’VE OFFICIALLY SCREWED THE POOCH.

I mean, not literally, because that would be
disgusting. But I did break one of the cardinal rules of Bro Code, which is
equally appalling. You see, I fell in love with my best friend’s sister after
he explicitly forbid me to go near her. As if that weren’t bad enough, I went
ahead and married her while sh*tfaced in Vegas.

I know that I should get an annulment and
forget the whole thing ever happened, despite the fact that our wedding night
was the hottest thing I’ve ever experienced.

The last thing I should do is go back for
seconds.

Or thirds.

Or...you get the point.

And what I definitely shouldn’t do, is say
f*ck the consequences and give this marriage a real shot.

But here’s the problem with that: I’m pretty
sure that Charlotte Harris is the one. And if that’s the case, nothing
is going to keep me away from her. Not even her brother.

*Deal Makers is filled with lots of laughs, drunken
shenanigans, and a sexy romance. It is the third installment in the Dealing
With Love series but each one can be read as a standalone.

OUR REVIEWS:

Jennifer's Review:

You know what they say about Vegas? Deal Makers is the third book in the Dealing with Love series. This book follows Drew, who I was beyond excited to get a story about, and Charlee, Brody’s sister. These characters have been minor characters in these stories before so it was good to get to see them get their own story.

I liked the plot of this story is the most. The idea of Vegas always gets me smiling. You just know it is going to end up with a stupid decision that is going to change lives. This story is no different. I mean getting so drunk you can’t see straight? Check. Marrying someone you weren’t supposed to? Check. Having feelings for that person even though you shouldn’t? Triple check. This story is everything I loved about Vegas.

Charlee is a good character. I liked her personality. She had a bit of snark to her. She also had balls, which is something a woman should have. Seriously. It sounds weird, but we should have the gumption to go after what we want more and Charlee does just that. She also has compassion and is selfless. I like that about her as well. Drew is an amazing character. I liked him from word go. He supported his sister so wonderfully and he is such an amazing uncle. I knew his story would be gold. Add in the fact that he is loyal to a fault? Well that is just perfect.

The heat between these two was amazing. Their chemistry was great. I really enjoyed watching their interactions with each other. Add in the element of forbidden fruit and an angry brother and you have yourself some tension. Tension often manifests into some great heat.

The writing style of this book was the best of the three. The pace was a bit fast still, but more manageable. I don’t know if the pace was slower or if I have gotten used to the authors writing style. I liked the characters in the book. The plot was written well. I will say that I was disappointed in Brody. While I understood his big brother ways, I felt he went a little overboard with it.

Overall, this was a good story. It was my favorite out of the three. I was excited to get to see Drew get his own taste at what the others had. He really deserved it after being an amazing big brother and uncle. He is a selfless person.

Johnaka's Review:

“Can they strike a deal? 3.5 stars”

There is no denying Drew and Charlee are attracted to each other. Charlee is all about exploring said attraction and finding out if there is more there, but Drew refuses to go near her no matter how much he wishes he could. Drew takes bro code seriously and where Charlee is his best friends’ sister that makes her off limits. What happens though when Vegas comes into play? The saying is what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas but what if they bring it home with them?

I enjoyed Deal Makers for the most part. For me it’s the best in the series. Deal Makers held my attention better then the stories before it but not completely. I had no problem setting the book down which is why its rated what it is. I did enjoy the chemistry between Drew and Charlee though and really wanted them together.

If you're looking for a fast-paced quick romance then look no further.

How do you date your best friend's sister? Easy.

Step one: Pretend you want her to set you up with someone else. That will bring the two of you closer.

Step two: Go on date with lots of random women, proceed to get stupid drunk and talk about your best friend's sister, thus gaining the courage to finally make a move.

It all seemed so simple. A fool-proof three step process that will guarantee the love of you life to fall madly in love with you.

At least--that's what I thought was going to happen. But my attempts to win over Julia Westin backfired in more ways than I can count. The thing about Julia? She's smart--really smart--and her wicked gaze cuts through all the charm I've tried slinging her way. She's not interested in games, my gifts, or my stories. She might want me too; but she's not giving in that easy...

Johnaka's Review:

“Can he win over his best friend’s sister? 5 stars”

Holy guacamole talk about a long title! With that said though it is literally the best title for the book. It intrigues you. It makes you want to one-click without reading the blurb. It was pure genius on Quinn’s part.

Now let’s get to the actual story…Bram is one of those guys who always gets what he wants. Except for one time when he asked Julia out back in college. Now he’s older, wiser, and still wants her. Who cares if he has to set up a sequence of events in order for it to happen. He will jump through every hoop if it means he gets Jules in the end. Only one question stands out, is the dream version of Julia better than real life?

Julia has known Bram since college. He’s basically been tied to her brother’s hip since then. When he asked her out back then she thought he was joking. But now he’s in her office asking for help on finding love. She doesn’t know if he’s serious or if he’s playing a joke. One thing’s for sure she’s about to find out.

I loved everything between these two! Bram balances Jules out perfectly. Jules is very serious and quite literal, and Bram just gets her. He doesn’t try to change her which I found really sexy. Between the romance with these two and the bromance going on with Bram and Jules brother I was sucked in. If you one-click The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister you wont be able to put it down until the last page.

Louise's Review:

The Secret to Dating your Best Friend’s Sister is a stand-alone novel that has cemented a top spot on my list for this year. Quinn who has shown time and time again has the ability to reel you in and make you fall in love with her characters, this book did not disappoint.

When you have been in love with your best friend’s sister for a decade there comes a time when you have to throw you hat back in the ring and hope that she doesn’t reject you, finding the best way to get close to her Bram sacrifices himself to get face time with Julia.

Bram is a self-made millionaire and will do anything for his friends, he loves whole heartedly and is not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve. Julia has always been the quiet one, she is reserved and wants to succeed at her business giving it everything she has.

“He’s wanted to be with me for ten years. Who does that?” “Someone who loves you unconditionally.”

Bram and Julia have an effortless banter which leads to sizzling hot chemistry, leaving you wondering how to get your hands on your very own Bram.

I personally loved this book and Bram has taken the top spot for book boyfriend after his swoon worthy love for Julia. Quinn for me has become a one click author for me and I cannot wait to get my hands on more of her work. The Secret to Dating your Best Friend’s Sister is a must-read for 2019.

Excerpt

By the time the wine bottle is empty, my fingers are like
prunes. Lifting my drunk self out of the tub is a precarious exercise, but one
I've perfected quite well. Turning the radio off, I move to the linen cupboard.
Sober me forgot to leave a towel out. Drunk me is amused to find that sober me
also forgot to bring the clean towels up from the laundry room downstairs.
Oh man, I really am drunk.
“fuck it” I think out loud before I make my way to my
room. This is the only perk of being alone here for a few days. There's no one
to judge me if I decide to stay in pyjamas eating takeaway and drinking wine
all weekend. There’s also no one to judge me or my not so youthful anymore body
if I decide to stroll down stairs butt naked at three pm. It’s actually quite
freeing. Since the girls, I’ve struggled with how I see myself, my body.
Carrying two good sized babies to almost full term does terrible things to a
women's body. No amount of gym and Pilates is ever going to fix the mess that
is my stomach and thighs, much to my chagrin. And even more to Petes,
obviously.
“I bet Amber’s thighs don’t jiggle” I mutter to myself as I
pad down the stairs. In fact, I know they don’t. I saw enough of them in Pete’s
office to know that she’s toned in the places that mattered to my husband.
Ex-husband?
What the fuck ever.
Deciding that my wayward thoughts need to shut the fuck up,
I detour to the fridge for more wine, completely forgetting that I still
haven’t grabbed a robe or a towel to cover my ass up. Yanking the door open,
the frigid air biting at my skin causes me to let out a startled yelp.
“holy shit, that’s cold” I mutter as I leaned in to get the
wine that I'd stored right at the back away from the girls.
“I think that’s the point of a refrigerator, Sweetheart”
The deep gravelly voice sounding from the direction of the
front door makes me jump out of my own skin, causing me to whack my head on the
internal shelf. The clang of my teeth crashing together causing me to drop the
wine from my hand and let go of the door that had until that moment, been
hiding my naked body.
Not even the shatter of glass on the floor is loud enough to
distract me from the complete and utter mortification I feel at being caught in
all my drunk, naked glory by the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen.
Duke Nash.

OUR REVIEW:

“Will she find happiness? 5 stars”

Elliott has never known true happiness. She thought she did when she first got married but that was soon squashed by her husband’s infidelity. Now she’s on her own and trying to find out who she is outside of being a mother. Elliott has always had a crush on Duke, but she never thought it would go further. Will he show her what true love is?

Duke has always been attracted to Elliott but where she’s his sister’s best friend he stayed away. He watched from a distance knowing she was living a life she didn’t deserve. When he comes back to town to stay, they are thrown together. Will he find a happiness he didn’t know existed thanks to Elliott and her daughters?

Oh, how I loved Duke. He accepted Elliott the way she was and just wanted to make her life better. I loved how Elliott discovered there was so much more to life then what she had previously known. Add in the acceptance of Dukes sisters and the love of Elliott’s daughters and I was sucked in.

The way Louise writes you would think she has been in the game longer than she has. I can’t wait to see what she gives us next.

OUR REVIEW:

Tri Tip was my first time reading Vanessa Vale. This was touted as a standalone book, but I feel like I would have gotten more out of it had I read books one and two first. Overall, it was about empowerment, and going after the things in life that are right for you.

Our plot leads Parker and Gus back together after ten years. Both have grown a lot-both in a physical sense and in ways of the world. After being hot and heavy together in high school, they parted ways. But fate brings them back together in their old hometown. I liked seeing how both characters grew in their time apart. A good second chance romance is always fun. This one has the added hunkiness and drama of two extra cowboys in Kemp and Poe.

I think I liked Parker the most out of all the characters. She's not just strong, she's vulnerable and shows her humanity and is easy to relate to. She strives to understand those around her, and herself; to make the world a better place and make all the hard decisions. Gus is excited to have a second chance with Parker. But now he has his two best friends with him in his veterinary practice and in life. They are looking for a woman who can be with all of them. Which works out well for Parker who is looking for more than one man in her life.

Holy heck, nothing forced or stilted here! Only smoking hot cowboys and one cowgirl. It starts off a little crazy for me with Parker's trust in the three, but it works for the book. And before long, panties are lost and lives are entwined (and limbs, so many). The three men have such distinct styles that I think it helps with the flow of not only the book but their love and sex.

This was a very fast paced book. Super easy to read in one quick but steamy setting. It was a fairly understandable book, though I wish I had the backstory of books one and two to help with some of the characters and setting. I liked how the author dealt with the stereotypes and differences to show that love is love and tolerance and understanding are of utmost importance.

This book was a erotic feel good read. It wrapped everything up neatly for the reader, even when the reader is stuck in a world where things aren't neat, tidy, or full of the book's tolerance and understanding. I can't say I'm going to go search out all of this authors books and read them all, but this one was a great weekend read and should I find others on my reading list, I know I'll enjoy them.
