Star RatingsIn Beautiful Distraction you meet Kellan and Ava. Its a chance encounter first with him hitting her car in one city and her showing up on his door step randomly half way across the country.Ava is a journalist in NYC. Shes a workaholic who has no social life. Her best friend conviences her to take a chance and go on a road trip with her. Ava won tickets and a weeks stay at a 5 star hotel all to see the band her best friend is obsessed with. Little does she know life will never be the same after this trip.Kellan is a complex man who lives in Montana. At the start of the book you think hes one kind of guy then you quickly learn you had it all wrong. He doesn’t trust easy or do things without thinking it through. When he meets Ava though he quickly dismisses everything he usually does. Kellan will do anything to get Ava to notice him.Fate, destiny, whatever it is you want to call it decides to step in and help a brother out. Question is is Kellan up for the challenge that is Ava? Will the guy get the girl? And is Ava willing to look past the things Kellans kept from her when they come to light? You'll have to read Beautiful Distraction to find out.Beautiful Distraction is the first book of J.C. Reed’s that I’ve read. I can tell you it wont be the last for sure as I will read Kellan’s brothers stories when they come out. I will admit there was a few minor things I didn't like, causing me to score the book like I did. But nothing to make me tell you not to waste your money on it. It's a good book, I'm just touchy when it comes to cowboys. They were little things that me as a country kid would notice, but not things people would if they weren't familiar with the lifestyle. Example- misspelling rifle with two F’s, making it riffle like a stream instead of a firearm.Here are three good quotes from the book;“Okay, let’s try again. So, what is it that you do? Irritate the hell out of a woman so she gives in just to get rid of you?”“There’s a difference between longing and living out a fantasy. There’s also a difference between desiring intimacy with someone who’s your dream guy and wanting something that you know is bad for you.”“I blame my parents and their crazy obsession with the orchestra. They’ve ruined music for me, and now I just can’t be like any normal woman and squeal and wear fan T-shirts.”
