REVIEW - Dare To Take by Carly Phillips

Title - Dare To Take
Author - Carly Phillips

Synopsis

She was off limits,
But he couldn't resist.

There are just some guys you don't touch--even someone as innocent and inexperienced as Ella Shaw knows that. But when her brother's best friend is up for grabs and willing, she can't resist. After all, she's wanted him for years...

On leave from the army, Tyler Dare is just looking for a little fun, but his best friend's sister is off limits. Yet unable to deny how sexy and alluring she is, he finds it all too easy to succumb to a night of passion and heat that ends the next morning in the worst way possible.

Now, Ella is stranded on a tropical island with a hurricane bearing down, and only Tyler can save her. It's his chance to make amends for the past and show the woman he's never forgotten that he's coming after her . . . in more ways than one.

What I Thought

So I didn’t realize that I was starting this series with book #6. This could be read as a standalone. However, this is the first book I’ve read by Carly Phillips. I’m going to have to read the others as I enjoyed what I read in Dare To Take!

Dare To Take is book 6 is the Dare to Love series. It’s about a person being off limits and doesn’t think they deserve each other.   It’s a story about Ella Shaw and Tyler Dare. Ella works for a fashion designer. Tyler works at his own security firm.  Ella has wanted Tyler for years. Tyler never forgot his sister Avery’s best friend years ago.   Tyler and Ella both had a not so easy life. As the story unfolds, they both help each other out.

Carly Phillips writing reeled me in with the first chapter. I wanted to keep reading and was sad when it was done.  The characters are described well that they can be real. The storyline is great as there is love, hope, family, and some suspense.
I really liked how Ella and Tyler connected. They had some hot chemistry. Tyler wants to protect Ella ever since she was mugged in St. Lucia. Ella thinks Tyler is only with her because his sister and her best friend Avery tells him too. Is that the case? You’ll have to find out.  I love that this book is about second chance.

I’d recommend this book to anyone that likes to read romance. I’m looking forward to reading more by Carly Phillips!

Parts of the story I liked:

Ella purchased two dozen, a mix of bracelets and necklaces, so she could share with the children at the cancer treatment center where she and Avery volunteered.”

“I’m going to make damned sure you know that not only do I want to be with you, I need to be.”

“She’d never felt as though she were the center of someone’s world before either.”
