Warning, this is book 1 of 2. This is a new adult romance which contains explicit sex - 18's only.

My Thoughts:

I'm still torn on my opinion on this one.

Considering I am a huge fan of darker reads, and it seems to be my go-to genre of choice at the moment. I think I possibly made a mistake by choosing Drawn to You as my first read, of an Author well known and loved for darker reads, Ker Dukey.

I knew this was NA, and a lot more lighter than what she normally writes, and thought maybe if I liked this, I would be raring to go, on her darker stuff. Plus, have you seen that cover??!!!
But, I think maybe I'm in a reading slump on NA. I can't seem to get as addicted to it, as I once did.

Anyway, so Drawn to You is about Antonia, a girl who has experienced a traumatic life event, that changed her significantly. She became withdrawn, and lost her friends and boyfriend, and had pretty much secluded herself away from everything.
The opportunity for a fresh start comes up. She decides to switch schools, and go to America (from the UK) and she is staying with her friend from her teen years, from when she used to live in the US. So she has someone there for her, until her own apartment is ready.

Antonia meets up with her friend, and gets settled. But within no time at all, she is meeting Finlay, her friend Gaby's brother. They live together, when he is around, and since their father passed away recently, he has taken on his father's company, and the role of watching over his sister.
He is absolutely gorgeous, and totally rude and obnoxious. But of course that is hot as hell, and the chemistry between them is unbelievable. Seriously, mentally hot chemistry. He is addictive, and has this rough, and edgy attitude that makes him completely desirable. He totally bosses Gaby and Antonia around, but he so can, he rocks the control vibe.

So this was all great, and I was loving it. But, then it started to change. Like everything happened too soon. Antonia and Finlay became a couple, which was obviously going to happen, there was no way it couldn't, BUT it happened so fast, and I missed all the crazy chemistry and atmosphere between them. Once they admitted they wanted each other, and settled in to some sort of relationship, I kind of lost interest.
The story chugged along, and we learnt more about Antonia's past (quite early on) and secrets between all the friends, which I must point out, there was A LOT of friends. The secondary characters, kinda made my head hurt, there was so many of them. I couldn't keep track. But some of them were fun, and made me laugh so they were worth it.

So I felt like perhaps a third of the book, wasn't really anything significant, more about developing characters and relationships, but I always felt like something was around the corner, or something big was going to happen. There was this atmosphere, like waiting for the other shoe to drop, kind of atmosphere, things were too easy and too settled, even with the odd temper tantrum, and fight. It was still all too chilled out. Calm before the storm.

So I guess that's where the last 20% kicked in. And that was a WOW!! moment. Everything happened all at once, and left me with my mouth gaping. A huge amount of twists and reveals, and they were pretty epic ones too. Plus I obviously hadn't read up properly so didn't realise it was 1 of 2, and there is a sorta cliff hanger at the end. Although it's not a total one, things are somewhat explained before hand.

So I guess if I could combine the beginning and the end, and shake up the middle, this would of been an epic read. But I always felt like something was missing, or waiting to happen. Finlay and Antonia fell into a relationship and love wayyyy too quick. I think their early days could of been dragged out more, and given us some more of those epic chemistry scenes.

So am I going to read the next book? Hmm yes probably. I can't say for sure, but I did like where it was heading, and I do want to know the outcome of all that went down. The characters were well done, and I'm dying to know how the new situations will be handled. So if you want a read that is pretty easy going, and not too heavy, with plenty of steam, and twists, then this is a good read for you.

REVIEW - For The Win (Gaming The System #4) - Brenna Aubrey

TITLE: For The Win (Gaming The System #4)
AUTHOR: Brenna Aubrey

Synopsis:

Millionaire bad boy Jordan Fawkes has problems. Big problems.
That molten-hot intern he hooked up with at Comic-Con is now his assistant. No one can know they’re the stars of the cosplay sex tape that broke the Internet.

Business school hopeful April Weiss has drama. Big drama.
Working under the CFO of Draco Multimedia should be the opportunity of a lifetime for her, but Jordan Fawkes is the boss from Hell—a sexier-than-sin boss from Hell who holds all the cards for her future career.

And then there’s the small problem of a certain video…

**This novel can be read as a stand-alone**

My Thoughts:

I absolutely love this series, it's so well written and the characters are captivating.
I totally fell in love with the world these books were set in. I had never read any books, where a huge lucrative online gaming world was the background. It was unique to me, and as someone who loves online games, I found it totally addictive.
So through the first 3 books in the series, we followed Mia and Adam's story, and I swear I cried, laughed and fanned myself down endlessly. They were truly awesome characters, and even the characters in the background had fantastic personalities, and I loved to follow them.
For the Win follows on of those secondary characters, Jordan.
Jordan is Adam's CFO in Draco Multimedia. Where Adam has always been the brains and genius behind all the technology, Jordan has always been the brains in his own right. He pretty much runs the company alongside Adam, and has made some fantastic moves, and choices right from the start. Except when women get involved.

When Jordan see's April, one of the new batch of Interns, thoughts take an inappropriate turn. He can't help but be drawn to her, yet he is one of the bosses, and you can't dip your pen in the office ink, and all that.
But does it stop him?....

April has got everything planned out, she needs to complete her internship at Draco Multimedia, then get her recommendation for Business School. She has put up with being pushed aside by her parents, and ex boyfriend for more than long enough, and now she is setting her sights on the goal.
But first she has to get past an epically proportioned, drunken mishap.

After a night that was full of booze, and partying, all dressed up in comic and game style costumes. Avery thought her outfit hid her perfectly, and after having a little too much to drink, decides to become someone she has never been. Reckless, fun, and a risk taker, with a gorgeous but totally disguised body to drool over.

One incredible night, to leave enough memories for a lifetime, and a hangover to beat all hangovers, and when April wakes, she realises she wasn't the only one who enjoyed her reckless night.
Pretty much all of the internet did too, after a video of her escapades are leaked on to the net.

So this book was funny right from the get go. Yes totally cringeworthy kind of funny. Poor April never does crazy things, she works hard, and doesn't really let loose, yet her one night off from that good girl act, is now biting her in the butt.

When she returns to work on the Monday, everyone is going crazy over the drama with the cos-play sex tape.
But only a handful of people know it was April, and even less than that know who the man in question is. And to top it all off, her boss is determined to make her regret the trouble she has brought upon the company, yes he knows it was her. After seeing a tell-tale tattoo on her back.

So through a series of sometimes funny, sometimes painful, and sometimes incredibly hot and sizzling chemistry. This is how April's days as an intern go.
She is more than made guilty, and her boss, Jordan is a complete ass to her. He feels like she is to blame for a potential company explosion, if what he's been working on for years is pulled, due to scandal. And he will make her pay. Jordan at times, was almost evil in the way he treated April, and I felt so sorry for her, but he totally made up for all of it by the end.

Yet, during all this the chemistry is growing to epic proportions. And when they blow, the pages literally disintegrate. That couple is pure fire waiting to happen, and watching them try to avoid the inevitable was completely addictive.

Of course I was really happy to see some of the others had a part in this book still too. Adam and Mia makes lots of appearances, and are as perfect a couple as always. Mia also shows again what a lovely character she is.

There was times, when I really could of knocked Jordan's inner thoughts with a baseball bat, he seriously sounded like such a plonker, and his lines sounded so cheesy, and smarmy in his head. But luckily when he spoke they didn't actually pass his mouth, thank god. Otherwise it would of totally put me off him.

I'm so glad that April grew with the story, and stopped letting herself get pushed around by her family. She totally handled them well by the end. And everything seemed to be perfectly concluded.

So, to round up. Loved this story, it was great to step back into this world again. I loved the new characters, and found them addictive and compelling. It was a completely easy read, thoroughly enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone who loves their stories, funny, sexy, hot and exciting!!
I can't wait for William's story!!!!

What it's all about

Gabe and Nora and Brooke and Red and Marcus and Theo and Brady and eve more people. A lot of people, in a small town where. Women and Children are going missing. This a dark read. Not for the faint hearted or easily offended.

What I thought

I have no clue where to start here. Im so confused by my feelings about this book. On the one hand it's dark and super effed up and I LOVE that, but on the other hand there were some parts that really irritated me and that has left me conflicted. So let me break it down.

The whole Gabe and Nora thing didn't blend with me at all. I didn't feel the love and passion I was meant to feel by their intense feelings for one another and that was only sealed by the ending. SURELY she should know!!!
"Gabe hid his grin. She was getting comfortable in his presence again and he couldn't have been more thrilled with their progress"

It was great to see Brady again however briefly, he was a nice bit of consistency! He comes to town with his knowledge of the darker side of things, to help out Gabe / Theo and the local police try to figure out what is going on. Where are these women and babies and who is behind it.

Another bit I actually liked (which I don't think i'm meant to like, but I do) is the dynamic between Marcus and Brooke. I didnt see that coming, but the bit where she buried her face his shirt, something shifted in me and I was suddenly a bit more interested.
"Milo went too far in his lesson. I should have stopped him sooner, beautiful girl"

Things I don't like were small things, but they built. Like there was a line about "the rumbling of a trucks engine rumbled in the distance" and i'm not sure why, but it really bothered me! there where a few other times when the writing just didn't work for me. But hey, that's just my opinion.

My biggest bugbear though was the ending. I disliked it a lot. It didn't feel dark and dangerous and a twist leading us into the third book. It felt like a copout. Like the author just went down that avenue for shock value with no real justification. But that's the risk you take with dark reads.

On an entirely different point. does anyone know what the deal was with Greta?
"I'm sorry miss. Truly. Now, let's get you dressed. That will make you feel better won't it?"

Sometimes true love can heal the deepest scars. If you believe.

***Saved By An Angel is book 2 in the Angel series. It can be read as a standalone or after reading Hugged By An Angel.***

My Thoughts:

*Contains spoilers*

Have you ever felt like something from your life was missing? Or maybe some one? This book is about that.

David lost his brother/best friend almost two years ago. At the same time his baby sister Kathy was hurt. His family hasn't been the same since the accident.
Around six months after Declan's death he started dating Michelle. David is starting to feel the lack in his relationship with Michelle. She's all about her job, has never asked about Declan, and most importantly she can't see that he isn't happy.

Claire lost her twin in an accident when she was eight. Which was the downfall in her family. Her father left and her mother cried herself to sleep every night. Then when she came home after college she found out her mother was sick with cancer and didn't have much time left. After her mother passed Claire wasn't living, she was basically surviving.
Claire moved back to Galway and moved in with her college house mate. She had a job she had no interest in, but it was something that would pay the bills in the mean time.
Ciara, her roommate convinced her to go out with her one night. That night she fell into the arms of a man, quite literally. One man knocked into her causing another one to catch her. That man being David.

David always had a weakness for redheads but had never dated one. Claire had a natural beauty, didn't dress up to the nines or wear a lot of make up. She was the polar opposite of Michelle. He didn't know her name when he left the bar, but couldn't get her out of his head.
A few weeks later he finds her at his job. They both work at the University. They strike up a friendship of sorts.

After a while David broke up with Michelle. Him and Claire share the loss of their loved ones with each other. It makes David want Claire more, but makes Claire back away from him. She doesn't want to be his rebound and doesn't think she's good enough for him. Which is crazy.

Since before David broke up with Michelle, he had been having the same nightmare. Every night another little detail becomes clear. After an almost kiss with Claire the full dream comes to light.

"When I kiss you for the first time, Claire Neeson, you’re gonna need paramedics to assist you, ’cause I’ll blow your min."

PLEASE BE AWARE - SPOILERS ALERT

The dream is basically a premonition of what's to happen.
Declan is giving it to him, so he can stop it from coming true. Declan in his angel form informs David he needs make sure it doesn't happen.
That Claire is his better half and he needs her in his life.
David does save Claire. But they both end up with injuries. While Claire is in a coma she sees her sister, mother, and Declan. She gets closer with her mother and sister and Declan gives her a message for David. Basically that he was sorry for the nightmares but it needed to be done to save her.
When she wakes from her coma she finds out David hasn't left her side.

"I haven’t stopped thinking about your lips since I walked out of this room. I don’t care if it won’t be as romantic as I’d planned— I really want to kiss you, Claire. Like, really bad."

I don't want to give too much of this book away, so I will stop now. I will say this does have a HEA but there is quite a bit more to this book that what I mentioned.

REVIEW - Hugged by an Angel - Roberta Capizzi *Contains Spoilers*

TITLE : Hugged by an Angel (Angel #1)

AUTHOR : Roberta Capizzi

Synopsis:

How can you ever love again when tragedy has crushed your heart?

Kathleen used to love life. She had plans, dreams, and faith in life; but that was before the accident that took it all away from her in an instant. Now that her beloved brother is dead and she's confined to a wheelchair, her future is but a dark cloud hovering above her head. How can she ever find the will to move on and keep living without him? Even the cares of the happy-go-lucky American physiotherapist who's helping her with her rehab therapies are all in vain. Life seems to have lost its meaning, until one night she receives an unexpected celestial visit…

Colin has been working as a physiotherapist in Dublin for almost five years, but he’s never bonded so much with a patient like he is bonding with Kathleen; there's something about those sad blue eyes that makes him want to help her, to take away the pain that reminds him so much of his own. Having lost both his parents in a plane crash when he was only sixteen, Colin knows how it feels to have someone you love taken so abruptly away from you, and he makes it his mission to help Kathleen find her faith in life again. But something changes along the way…

Sometimes love can work miracles. If you believe.

My Thoughts:

  *contains MAJOR spoilers*

Where to start...well you have Kathleen who has just gone through a life altering experience.
Her and her brother Declan were on their way to the airport. He was moving her from Ireland to New York where he lived. Although they never made it to the airport, they were hit by a drunk driver. Declan died on impact and she lived.

When she woke up in the hospital she couldn't feel her legs. They couldn't figure out why. She had no physical damage done so it was psychological. One of the first people she meets when she wakes up is Colin her doctor in charge of her physical therapy.

Colin also has baggage. When he was sixteen or so he ditched his parents. They went on a trip, he stayed home. His parents died in a plane crash. Over the years he's learned to live with his survivors guilt. So he completely knows how Kathy feels, he's been there. He makes it his job to do everything to pull her out of it.

Colin offered to accompany Kathy to New York to try a special program to try and get her legs back. Colin is originally from New York and has only lived in Ireland for fourteen years. His best friend Chris is in charge of the program Kathy is going to try. So it's the perfect mix between vacation and work for him.

A lot of things happen in New York. Kathy works on her mental state, her and Colin grow into a comfortable friendship, he shows her around New York. Colin proves to Kathleen that just because she is in a wheel chair it doesn't mean she can't enjoy life. While in New York they both realize they are in love with each other. He professes his love she fights it. My favorite part is he did it on St. Patrick's day.

"I know it wasn’t professional and you could very well go ahead and sue me for sexual harassment, but I don’t regret kissing you, Kathleen, because I love you."

When they get back to Dublin she went on to Galway. Kathy completely cut him out of her life. She didn't believe he could actually love her because of her condition. Thankfully when she finally pulled her head out, he was still waiting for her.
On their first night back together, she sent him out to go get something. She started having a panic attack about if he actually did love her.

"I decided to put pictures of you everywhere so I’d see your face all the time, no matter where ."
Her brother Declan came to her in the form of an angel. He calmed her down, gave her a message for herself and one for Colin, then hugged her. When he hugged her she got feeling back in her legs. Thus the title hugged by an angel.

Colin was wary of it to start with. After a while he believed it. After Kathy was healed everything was great between the two. They fell deeper in love. He met her family again, but as her boyfriend. She met his Gran. And they basically lived happily ever after.

For St. Patrick's day they went back to New York to celebrate their one year anniversary and to become the official god parents of Chris's son James. That's one way to know your best friend loves you, when he names his kid after your dad. But that's not all that happened in New York..read the book to find out what else happens.

This isn't the usual type of book I read. That being said I was definitely okay with this book, it was a surprise how much I did enjoy it. I do wish though that Roberta would have used more Irish terms. At least when Kathy was speaking sense she's from Ireland. I realize Colin is technically a transplant to Ireland, so I didn't expect it from him, but I did from Kathy. It was almost too American for me for a book taking place in Ireland.

Warning - 18+ Contains elements of BDSM, hot sex and even hotter Doms!

My Thoughts:

*Received free copy in exchange for an honest review.*

His Angel is the story of Angelina (aka Angie or Angel) and Ian. Angie is a woman who has a hard time dating. She feels like something is missing from her relationships both emotionally and sexually. Ian has a particular type of lifestyle. He has been burned in the past by a woman and refuses to let any other woman get close to him again. When Ians co-worker and friend moves next door to Angie, Ian is immediately attracted to her and finds himself visiting his friend more often in hopes of seeing her. Angie has noticed Ian and is attracted to him as well, but thinks that there is no way he would ever be interested in her.
Ian works for a security agency. When he gets a job to protect Angie at all costs, he spends more time watching her. After a blind date of hers falls through, Ian asks her out, which starts their romantic relationship. Not long after they start dating, Angie finds out about Ians BDSM lifestyle. While she is a little freaked, she is more intrigued and allows Ian to introduce her to the lifestyle. Hot sex scenes and emotions proceed, while Angie and Ian find themselves falling deeper than either had imagined.
I enjoyed this story, but at the same time I felt that it needed to be blended more. I understand that the characters needed to fall in love and have their getting to know you stage, but I feel that the mystery (aka Angie is in danger) was lost while we were watching them fall in love. I kind of felt like it was two different stories in a way.  In the beginning we are introduced to the idea that Angie might be in trouble, but then it is put on the back burner for a majority of the book. After Ian and Angie become close, the danger aspect is used as a way to bring a climax to the story. I think that worked fine except I would have liked to see some clue that she was going to be in danger before the climax of the book. That is just me personally though.
Ian and Angies relationship was a good one. I liked how he introduced her to the BDSM lifestyle and how she struggled a little, but eventually was able to acclimate. With that being said, I think she was a little bit too accepting at first. I felt like they moved things a long quicker than I think it should have. Angie never thought a BDSM lifestyle was real until she found out about Ian. She was told by a random woman she had never met in a bathroom, which I figured she would freak out a bit more at this point. I understand her intrigue, but I guess I figured she might have been a little more reluctant at first. She even jumped right in that same night and asked Ian to introduce her to the lifestyle. I think that someone being so new would have wanted to go slow to make sure that it was what she really wanted. After asking some questions, I think that I would have liked to see her without a night or two while she thought about the information discussed.
The actual BDSM portion of the book I found to be interesting. The explanation of the BDSM club and the patrons was told in a way that I could imagine it.
With that being said, I really did enjoy this book and learning about Ian and his lifestyle. I think that Angie and Ian progressed their relationship a little fast, but it was still a good relationship. I loved how Ian kept denying his love for Angie, but when he thought he lost her, he was forced to deal with the fact that he was indeed in love with her. Angie admitted she loved Ian to herself quicker than Ian, but I think she knew she would fall for him from the beginning. I would recommend this book to my friends and would enjoy reading other books by this author.

Favorite Parts of the book:

“Uh-uh. I asked you to dinner and it’s my treat. I’m not expecting anything in return, Angie, just the pleasure of your company for the evening. And maybe a goodnight kiss, if you decide you had a good time.” –Ian trying to convince Angie to go to dinner with him

“Seriously, Heather? Who let your skanky **butt** in here? You wouldn’t know art if it slapped you. Oh, wait a minute, it looks like you already took an oil painting to the face or is that your makeup? I can’t quite tell.” Kristen

“What was that for?” - Angie
“Well the Dom in me felt like it.” - Ian
“Well, tell the Dom in you to have a little sympathy for the half-unconscious. You wore me out.” - Angie
