“The Ladies man and the wanted, 5 stars”
Craft is an interconnected standalone, you don’t have to read the first book in the Gibson boy series but I recommend you do. I knew from the first book that Lance was a lover of women but not the settle down type. So, going into Craft I really had no idea where Locke would take the story and had zero expectations except for the fact that I knew it would be a solid story. What I ended up with was a story that did a complete one-eighty and caught me off guard.
Lance is a history teacher by day and a slight womanizer by night. I hate that term but it fits even though everyone knows the score. He has a thing for his school’s librarian but knows it will go nowhere, and then there is the girl from the app. He likes her but they never seem to be on the same schedule and one always cancels. But what if he decides to take a chance on one? What happens if he suddenly finds himself head over heels for a woman and knows it won’t end well?
Mariah wants it all. The happy husband, the kids, the white picket fence, everything. Only it doesn’t seem like its ever going to happen. So, she decides to take a chance that kind of blows up in her face and brings real life and her made up one together. She knows if she lets Lance in it will end in heart break, but would it be worth it to experience love?
I am going to be awful for a second, when I saw the heroines name I instantly cringed and prepared myself to hate her, because in real life I have never met a nice Mariah. But Mariah in the story was a freaking sweetheart, she is the kind of girl you bring home to Nana and everyone loves. Lance, there is so much more to Lance than what’s on the surface. Once you read his story all the puzzle pieces start to click into place and you understand why he is the way he is.
These two together are hot but simple at the same time. The chemistry comes off the page like a flame and the best part is there is no awkward get to know you. These two have known each other forever but are just now giving one another a chance, and it’s easy to fall into the story because of this.
You don’t get near as much Gibson family as you do in the first but they all play a role in the story. I absolutely adore this family and cannot wait to see where Locke takes us with the next book. Just do yourself a favor and scroll to the top and one-click, you won’t regret it.
