REVIEW:
Gangster is a great novel for those who love mob/gangster novels. I enjoyed this novel and would expect to see another one in the future following a different set of characters. Ideally I would like at least 3 more books to be written to feel the series was complete. This specific novel has romance, mystery, and quite a bit of violence. If you like novels with this, then this is the perfect book for you.
The plot of this book is an outspoken woman makes the
mistake of speaking up in a restaurant without knowing who she was taunting.
What follows is a game of cat and mouse between the two main characters. The
main plot is simple but well written. I had a clear idea of what was going on
and what could possibly happen next. The plot was great for me.
The characters were pretty good. Grace was a pretty well
written character. I liked her original spunkiness. I wish I would have seen
more of that from her throughout the book, but I felt overall she was a well
written character. Thaddaeus, AKA The Joker, is an alpha male character. I
think that is to be expected with a gangster novel. I liked his character, but
I did not love his character. I wish he was a little less cave man and a little
more tender, but that is just me personally. I did not feel much development
really occurred with each character. They seemed to end in the same place they
started in my opinion.
The heat in this book was very well written. There was a lot
of steamy scenes for readers to indulge in. I felt at times it was a bit much
for me personally, but they were well written so I did not mind too much. The
lead up into the relationship was pretty well written. I wish there was a bit
more, but I feel the author had plenty of explanation as to why the timeline
occurred the way it did.
The writing style of this author was okay for me. I liked
the book and the characters, but there were certain aspects I could have done
without, while others I felt needed some work. This story is told from a pretty
fast pace and I felt like I would have liked more time to fall in love with
each character. The story is also told from a multi-person point of view. Most
of the book is told from dual point of view, but then there is one section that’s
told from one of the minor characters point of view. I felt this did not add
anything to the story and made me wonder why all of a sudden we were hearing
from him.
Overall, this was a pretty good book and I would read more
if the author came out with more books to this series. While there were some
aspects I did not enjoy, this book entertained me until I finished it. I had no
trouble getting to the end. I would recommend this book to others who like a
similar genre of books.
