TITLE - Tempting Levi
AUTHOR - Jules Barnard
BLURB:
Off-limits never looked so tempting...problem is, she's my ex's little sister
Cade men are known for two things: arrogance and competitiveness. I grew up in one of the wealthiest, most dysfunctional families in Lake Tahoe, and all I wanted was to get the hell out. I thought I'd succeeded. Until an accident burned up my firefighter ambitions. Then Dad died and left me in charge of the family's luxury resort.
Now I've got financially uptight advisors telling me what to do, and I need someone I can trust working at my side. The perfect candidate walks through the door in her pencil skirt, fitted white blouse, and that mass of wavy blond hair she tries to contain.
The only problem? She's my cheating ex's younger sister.
Hell no. The last thing I need is another Wright female in my life.
But Emily's good at the job, and she seems trustworthy. I should ignore the desire I have for her. But after all I've lost, I'm tempted by what I can't have and ready to stoke the flame that smolders between us. As long as this Wright sister doesn't betray me the way the last one did.
Then again, I always liked playing with fire.
REVIEW:
Levi
was a firefighter but he had to stop since a cement
block fell which caused him to lose part of his vision in one eye. He
loved
helping people and putting out fires. Now he’s taking over as CEO of
Club
Tahoe, a place where his father, Ethan, owned/worked. Levi also has brothers
that help out. Levi didn’t know anything about running a
business so his father already had an assistant in place, Ms. Emily
Wright, who
was Lisa’s half-sister, Lisa being Levi’s ex.
Emily Wright is smart and not Levi’s type. She had a crush
on Levi for years. So after all those years and finally seeing him again
nothing changed, she’s still attracted to Levi. The
chemistry between Levi and Emily was pretty clear they
were into each other.
Emily wanted to
be with him but felt she wasn’t good enough and it was his sister’s ex. Levi kept pushing her away because it was
Lisa’s sister and that was just wrong in his mind. Emily just wanted
someone to love her. With them working together could they have a
relationship and be business partners as well?
This is a new to me author and I’m glad I gave it a chance.
The blurb got my attention and while reading this story it just consumed
me. (Maybe I even told my kids it’s “fend
for yourself day for dinner”) The storyline and characters were detailed and
everything was put in the right place. I will definitely be adding the rest of the Cade brother’s books to my tbr list!
Parts of the story I liked:
“There will always be fires to put out. It’s the one inside
my chest that burns for you that I don’t want to get rid of. I’d like it to
simmer good and long.”
The letter Levi got from his Dad towards the end of the
story was touching and gave reasons why he did what he did.
