Release+Review-Flirting with Fire-Piper Rayne

Flirting With Fire
(Blue Collar Brothers #1)
By Piper Rayne
Release Day: Sept 13

Everyone knows that if you play with fire you’ll end up getting burned…

What happens when you attend a first responder’s bachelor auction with your best friends? Well, if your name is Madison Kelly like me, your friends end up bidding on a date for you with your high school crush.

That’s right. Even back when I was ‘Fatty Maddie’ to all my classmates, I had eyes for the quarterback of our football team. Not like I was the only one.

Mauro Bianco may fight fires for a living, but he still sets my heart ablaze. One look at the rugged, muscular man he’s turned into and I want to slide down his pole.

One date. That’s all I’m committed to. A few hours and I can tuck him back into that tattered old shoebox in my closet.

As always, the universe has other plans. I never would’ve predicted that in a matter of days he’d turn from my dream guy into my enemy.

OUR REVIEW:
“Will the fire stay ablaze? 5 stars”

I have been a huge fan of Piper and Rayne for a long time it seems like, but I can tell you that Fighting with Fire may be my favorite story of theirs to date. I loved the idea of these two developing a friendship and then falling into love. They both knew what they wanted and went for it. I was sucked in, when they were annoyed, I was annoyed. When they were happy I was happy. It was fantastic.
Mauro is at the point in his life where he wants more. He’s sick of the love-sick girls that try and attach themselves to him. He wants a strong independent woman by his side. When he first sees Maddie she excited him, then it fell flat, then he got a surprise. Will she be the woman he’s been wanting? And what will happen when he finds out the truth about their history?
Maddie is confident in your abilities when its work related but she’s unsure of herself as a woman. Winning a date with Mauro is both a blessing and a curse. Then when she finally gets the date its nothing like what she thought it would be. When she runs back into Mauro she didn’t expect it to end in a business arrangement, let alone turn into something else. Will Mauro be the voice she needs?
These two effortlessly balance each other out. I loved the secondary characters hard. Maddie’s friends were exactly what she needed and uplifting. Mauro and his brothers had the classic sibling relationship that added humor to the story. I cannot wait to see where the rest of the series goes and to get updates on Mauro and Maddie.

Flirting with Fire is the first book in the Blue Collar Brothers series and it has started with sizzling heat, Piper & Rayne have bought the goods with them on this one leaving me swooning over my new favourite book couple.

When Madison attends a Bachelor Auction it is on, her friends bidding for her she finds herself securing a date with her high school crush, Mauro Bianco. Ten years on and Madison still has the same insecurities she had during high school, does she look fat and is she pretty enough. Mauro was always the dream and now is the reality, is he everything she dreamed he would be?

Madison is strong, independent and success but on the inside, she still harbors insecurities that everyone can relate to. She has built a life for herself but has never forgotten that one night back in high school when she spent time with him. Mauro is doing what he loves, being a fireman is very rewarding. He has his own hang-ups and is trying to navigate life with a secret that could destroy a friend, when he meets Madison he is finding she is his clean slate in life and wonders what he was doing for the past 10 years without her in his life.

Hot sexy fireman, sign me up! From the moment I started this book I knew the chemistry between Mauro and Madison was going to be 5 alarm hot, they had their teething issues which is not unusual but give each other the space to come back together and make up in the best possible way.

Piper & Rayne I would say have are the best team of writers that I have ever read, this book flows perfectly and you would never know that it was written by 2 people. As always, their storyline and dual POV were on point and I felt that I was right there with the characters.

I personally loved this book, I couldn’t put it down reading it in 1 sitting. I have pencilled in book 2 “Crushing on the Cop” featuring Cristian and Vanessa and I have no doubts that this series is going to make me clear my schedule and not miss a single page.

EXCERPT
My brothers widen their stances, share a look of amusement and cock their eyebrows at me.
“Hate to break it to you, but Maddie didn’t bid on you. Lauren did.” Luca laughs while Cristian chuckles.
“I’m going out with a Madison and she didn’t go to our high school. Which reminds me.” I pull out my phone.
“Maddie is Madison, you idiot,” Luca says. “Her and Lauren were my year.”
“I went to high school with Madison?” I try to let her face come back to me, and though I can picture her bright blue eyes and long chestnut hair, nothing about her is familiar from high school.
“Yes, but she definitely wasn’t hanging out at the bonfires and football pep rallies.” Luca grabs his helmet off his bike. The only responsible thing I’ve seen him do in the last few years.
“Well, shit and she doesn’t even want to go out with me? Her friend bid on me?”
Luca straddles his bike with a grin. I look over to Cristian, but he’s putting his shirt back on and starts fiddling with his earbuds. They obviously think this conversation is over.
“Yeah, but we’re all in the same boat.” Cristian’s thumb moves over his phone screen. “Maddie’s awesome and I think you’ll have a good time with her.”
“She seemed pretty quiet and way too accommodating,” I say.
Luca kicks his stand up, letting the bike rock a little under him.
Cristian’s hands freeze on the screen of his phone. “And that’s bad?” he asks.
“I want a woman who knows what she wants. Has her own damn opinions. Doesn’t just agree with everything I say.”
Cristian peeks over his shoulder, a look of amusement that matches Luca’s. “You want a girl to come up and grab your nuts?”
“I want a girl who knows what her favorite food is, has an opinion about where she wants to go for dinner, likes whatever sports team she likes and doesn’t default to my favorites.” I stuff my hands into my pockets, digging out my keys for my truck.
“Well then, Maddie might not be the one. Like I said, she’s nice.” Cristian slaps me on the shoulder. “Treat her good though, okay?” He inserts one earbud.
“What do you think I’m going to do, leave her in Garfield Park?”
He puts his other earbud in. “That’s not even funny man. I have a friend in that district and the shit that goes down there...” He shakes his head.
Cristian loses the entire point of my statement—the fact I’m not a jackass. I’m not Luca.
“It’s one date,” I say. “And who knows, maybe she’s nice but still has a wild streak.”
Christian again glances over to Luca who’s smiling like he’s fucking Mickey Mouse.
“Well, good luck on your date,” he says.
Cristian jogs away and Luca’s bike starts up.
I head to my truck.
The conversation is over, but I’m curious now.
Where’s my damn yearbook?
