REVIEW - In My Arms Tonight by Sasha Clinton

In My Arms Tonight
Sasha Clinton

Synopsis

What if you can’t help but hurt the person you love?

Kat Cullen has it all—a staff writer position at the New York Times, beauty, independence—until she finds herself alone on the subway at night with a rapist. Saved by Alex Summer, a democratic candidate running for mayor of New York, she develops an unexpected friendship with him.

Alex’s chaotic past is the kind of juicy scoop every political reporter dreams of—which is why he keeps it hidden. But as he starts falling in love with Kat, he opens up to her about his darkest secrets. What he doesn’t know is that Kat already knows all about him, and she’s on an assignment to expose his history.

Caught between truth, love and ambition, two people must figure out the politics of the heart

My Review

In My Arms Tonight is the classic politician falls in love with a reporter story. But not everything is as it seems. Sasha Clinton gives us a story about a bad boy turned good, and a true to self reporter. For some reason political books are one of my weaknesses, with that said I definitely cannot compare In My Arms Tonight to a similar story.
The Hero is Alex, or at least thats who he is now. Hes a guy from the wrong side of the tracks who wants to make his city better. Who else could be better for the job then him? Hes mastered the art of keeping calm, or so he thinks. Just when he thinks hes going to get everything he’s ever wanted life happens. Can his campain withstand a scandal if his background comes to light? Will he be able to forgive the person who stands to distroy him?
Kate is a reporter, a good one who works her tail off trying to make sure she's safe from looming job cuts. Because honestly who reads news papers anymore? One night she finds herself in a situation no one wants to find themselves in, only to be saved by none other than her current story headliner. Does Kat get the story of a lifetime?
The fall into love is simple, sometimes you don't realize its happening until it’s happened. With a guy who finds it hard to trust will he be able to let her in completely. For Kat will she be able to keep his secrets or will her oath as a reporter cause her to bring his real story to light? After all, all is fair in love and war. You'll need to read In Your Arms Tonight to get the full story, and I dont suspect you'll be disappointed in the end.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the book;
“I want to be with you. I’ll do whatever it takes. I can’t love anyone else. You’re you. Nobody else is you. Nobody else could be you.”
“I feel more like myself. I want to save this relationship, because when I imagine everything I could do with him in the future, I feel it would be tragic to never have the opportunity to do those things.”
“Cupping her shoulders, he marveled at the sense of peace and stability her skin gave him. She was where he belonged. He’d finally found that place—the one he’d been searching for all his life—in her arms.”
