REVIEW - A Way Back Into Love - Veronica Thatcher

TITLE - A Way Back Into Love
AUTHOR - Veronica Thatcher

BLURB:

Nothing is perfect. Life is messy. Relationships are complex. Outcomes, uncertain. People, irrational. But love…well, that makes everything complicated. And when you are caught in a tangled web of secrets, lies, and complex affairs, someone is bound to get burned.

Emily Stevens is a spunky, spirited college girl whose life gets turned upside-down when she realizes she's in love with her best friend of fifteen years, Derek Thorpe. As Emily prepares to confess her feelings to Derek, something happens one night which changes her life forever. Five years later, Emily finds herself in Boston, alone and heartbroken. Will she ever be able to forget the past? And what will she find when she returns home...to the man she left behind?

REVIEW:

“Second Chance romance, 4 stars”

A Way Back Into Love is exactly what it sounds like, two people finding the way back to each other. I enjoyed the story but man did I want to strangle both of the main characters.

Emily has been in love with Derek since she was a little girl. Finally during college she thinks everything is going to come to light, she’ll get the happily ever after she's always wanted with Derek. But one drunken night changes everything causing her to run. Will Emily always run away from fate or will she finally stand her ground and get what she’s always wanted.

There has only ever been one woman for Derek and when she walks away without any reason he finds himself drowning. Then he starts to piece back together with the help of someone tied to Emily. Which pushes Derek and Emily further apart.

When Emily comes home everything starts to change. Old hurts come to light, friendships are rebuilt, and fragile relationships will shatter. I truly liked Emily and Derek but I wanted to beat them into speeding up.

I loved some secondary characters like their friends and Emily’s dad Paxton, but hated Emily’s mother and sister. All in all it was a good read.

Here are a few quotes that stuck to me;

“We always think that the sorrow and pain will never end, that we will be stuck in a bad place forever, but we always do reach a better place.”

“Face your troubles, Derek. Then, they won’t seem as scary anymore . Stay true to your heart.”
