Review - Irrevocable - Skye Callahan
WOW! This was an awesome dark read. I love dark, gritty and sexy stories, but finding new and unique ones can be tricky. This was spot on though.
Irrevocable starts straight in the action, a girl is being attacked by a group of men. She has no idea where she is, or how she got there. She just knows it's going to get far worse. That is until someone comes in and stops it. A dark and dangerous type. Kirk. We go on to learn the girl is Silver, (she chooses her new name) and she has now lost her old life. This is her new life, a slave in a huge hotel style building, called the Retreat. She has no idea how bad things will get, and they get pretty bad. Kirk may have saved her from the thugs and animals that dragged her off the streets and pulled her into the lower levels of the Retreat, but that doesn't mean she was saved entirely. She can never go home, and is to be Kirks slave now. Through various methods of training and punishment, Silver learns how to keep her head down from time to time, but she draws the wrong sort of attention and is still desired by the man who dragged her in to the Retreat in the first place, and he's not happy at her being taken away before he had his fun.
Although there is some really nasty and horrid scenes, that are pretty shocking, there is also some very hot and naughty scenes that make Silver's situation a lot better. Kirk and Silver find themselves in an odd kind of relationship and find out a lot about each other, that makes things a lot easier. But, there is a lot more trouble and danger to come for Silver, and it makes survival quite hard work for her.
The writing was addictive. I couldn't put this book down. Even when you know you shouldn't enjoy it, you do, it's obvious the writing is pretty awesome to make you captivated by the ugly stuff too.
I loved how feisty and strong willed Silver was, even though she shouldn't be. She should be an empty shell after everything that has happened to her, yet she is such a fighter and I loved her will and attitude. She was a perfect leading lady. Kirk was the perfect torn and tortured bad boy. Having to do the bad stuff, even though he doesn't want to. Yet seeing he has a secret side to him, is exciting and redeems him nicely.
A fantastic read, I absolutely loved it, and was blown away by the originality and excitement running through the story, with a perfect writing style to hook you in and keep you addicted.
5 stars!
**I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review**
