Scandalous by LJ Shen

Publishing Date:  September 29th, 2017

Genre: Contemporary Romance

They call him The Mute for a reason.
Hard, cold and calculated, he rarely speaks.
When he does, it’s with disdain.
When he does, his words aren’t meant for me.
When he does, my stomach flips and my world tilts on its axis.
He is thirty-three.
I am eighteen.
He’s a single dad and my father’s business partner.
I’m just a kid to him and his enemy’s daughter.
He’s emotionally unavailable.
And I am…feeling. Feeling things I shouldn’t feel for him.
Trent Rexroth is going to break my heart. The writing isn’t just on the wall, it’s inked on my soul.
And yet, I can’t stay away.
A scandal is the last thing my family needs. But a scandal is what we’re going to give them.
And oh, what a beautiful chaos it will be.

OUR REVIEW:

“Find your seahorse, 5 stars”

“I think it’s time to make some popcorn, kids. These two are going to give us the best show this town has to offer.”

That line is the best description of Scandalous. Everything about Scandalous is hot. The dialogue, the push and pull, the characters, the s*x, every little thing about this book burns. I’ve been a Shen fan for what seems like forever, I’ve loved the HotHoles since the start but now…Now I have a favorite and that’s Trent. Not because he is the definition of an alpha male, not because he’s trying to be the best he can as a single dad, but just because. Do yourself a favour and one-click Scandalous you won’t regret it. And while you’re at it lose the panties, why make unnecessary laundry for yourself?

Trent is a control freak, and I mean that in the most loving way possible. He came from nothing and like a phoenix rose from the ashes and made something of himself with a lot of hard work and his friends. He keeps quiet and is always one step ahead. Even when Edie came on the scene he knew he needed to be on his toes. When he lost control, and went for the girl he kept his eyes on the prize and for that I admired him.

Edie has been clawing her way through life for years. She comes from the world of wealth and privilege but you would never know it by looking at her. She’s the puppet and someone else is holding the strings. Strings she feels like will never break. All Edie wants is to break free and take what’s important to her and run. When she meets Trent, she learns it’s a fine line between love and hate. He’s everything she’s tried to leave behind, only she can’t seem to walk away from him.

Will these two opposites have a fighting chance? He’s older, she’s barely legal. He’s biracial and she’s pure as snow. But in the end, they have a common enemy, will they manage to bring them down?

Here are a couple quotes that I loved;

“I like you, you little diehard hustler.”
“I should warn you, Edie. I’m not the prince in this fairy tale. I’m the villain. The poisonous apple, the flame-breathing monster.”
“I’m his tide, and he’s my anchor. Or maybe the sand itself.”

About LJ Shen:

L.J. Shen is an International #1 best-selling author of Contemporary Romance and New Adult novels. She lives in Northern California with her husband, young son and chubby cat.

Before she’d settled down, L.J. (who thinks referring to herself in the third person is really silly, by the way) traveled the world, and collected friends from all across the globe. Friends who’d be happy to report that she is a rubbish companion, always forgets peoples’ birthdays and never sends Christmas cards.

She enjoys the simple things in life, like spending time with her family and friends, reading, HBO, Netflix and internet-stalking Stephen James. She reads between three to five books a week and firmly believes Crocs shoes and mullets should be outlawed.
