Come get yourself bitten! Royally Bitten is different than I expected. I won’t lie. I usually don’t read vampire books. I got bored with them somewhere shortly after Twilight came out. Royally Bitten intrigued me from the blurb though so I gave it a shot. Let me tell you, that is one of the best decisions I made all week.
The plot of Royally Bitten is interesting. I mean what the heck is blood day? Why is this world the way it is? Is he going to kill her? Those are all questions I had just from reading the blurb on Goodreads. Now imagine me reading the actual book. This book is more than just a paranormal romance. This book is also a mystery novel. Who is the villain here? Is it Kylan or is there another out there worse than he is? Only one way to find out.
Rae is the perfect character for me. She is strong, resilient, and defiant. She is not scared of much and is willing to stand up to herself, even when at times it is stupid for her to do so. I will say I think she has a death wish, but I liked seeing her all feisty. I really liked watching her soften too. She had a chip on her shoulder that slowly decreased over time. Then you have Kylan. You are never quite sure what you are going to get with him. What you do know is that he is an Alpha/Royal, dangerous, and oozes sexual tension from his very being.
The heat in this book is amazing. I mean I will say you have to have an open mind to read this book. There are some sections I was surprised about, but I still thought were just as hot. Then you have the chemistry between the characters. It is obvious something is there, but you aren’t sure what. Heck you aren’t even sure if they are going to stay alive half the time.
The writing style of this book was great. The pace of the story is steady. The story is told from a dual point of view. This book stopped my heart on more than one occasion. Seriously, this book caught me off guard and thoroughly surprised me.
The world this author has created is masterful. The world as we know it has been irrevocably changed, and not in favor of humans. I cannot even believe how drew into this world I am. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I would 100 percent recommend to others.
