REVIEW - Insignificant (Goldenrod #1) by Kelly Lincoln

Title - Insignificant (Goldenrod #1)
Author - Kelly Lincoln

Synopsis

When Taylor was four years old, she became an orphan and her childhood spiraled into darkness. She spent years lying, hiding, and avoiding any love offered to her until she was old enough to run away from all the threats of her past.

Now twenty-two, Taylor doesn't think she’s worth more than being the kind of girl a guy hooks up with in the back room of a bar after her band plays. She definitely isn’t the one you bring home to meet Mom and Dad.

An unlikely rescue puts her in Ethan’s sight. He’s her total opposite, though. Ethan is a sexy dork who sees beyond Taylor’s guarded exterior. He sees past the tattoos and piercings. He sees her.

But they both have secrets capable of destroying their relationship. And if Taylor’s past ever catches up with her, the consequences could be deadly.

Due to explicit language, sexual content, and dark themes, reader discretion is advised.

What It's All About

Two people with a past dreaming of a future but first they've got to deal with the present.
"There are too many things going on that I have no control over"

What I thought

This is one of the most unique books I've read in a while,  in the best possible way!

Taylor has a past and her past is her secret. A secret she has hidden in order to build her life. And what a life she's built, she's now in a band called Goldenrod (hence the series title) and with a few changes to her life she can be ready to be happy.
Enter Ethan, the epitomy of geek chic! He has thins uncanny knack of looking right through Taylor's well practised shield and seeing what's actually there.
"Goldenrod? Sounds like a vibrator. Or a superhero. Like a superhero with this massive magical dick and he solves crimes and brings world peace with it. Goldenrod."
I won't give away the story, but it's harsh. Poor Taylor has been through the mill. A lot! She's still going through it!
And It does come with a sexy warning so yano, its okay to mention, it has sex. Hot, sexy, steamy, damn 'I wish I was that girl right now' sex. They say its the quiet ones you've gotta look out for.

But it's not all sex, it is story and its plot. Its got a band, but it's not a rockstar romance. It's loaded with suspense but it's not a thriller. Its crazy sexy, but not in an overly erotic kind of way. It's sweet and funny without hurting your teeth. It's a lot, but it's really good.
"I'm going to wait. I'll wait until you're twenty, just like her. And then I'm coming back."
Its original!

Kelly Lincoln has delivered characters who make me want to read on. At no point was this a chore to read. It was inventive and creative and very refreshing.
