TITLE - The Outpost
AUTHOR - Devney Perry
BLURB:
Trapped in his tiny mountain cabin, she didn't expect to fall for his big heart.
Exposing a prominent criminal family with an investigative news report didn’t exactly work out the way Sabrina had hoped. Instead of basking in the glory of her article’s success, she’s on the run from a powerful man who wants her dead. To stay safe, she’s forced to trade one bad situation for another. Stuck in the Montana wilderness, she’s secluded from anything resembling civilization or the modern-day world. The only good thing about her situation is the gorgeous mountain man assigned to protect her. Too bad he isn’t the slightest bit interested in a city girl like her.
Beau likes his life quiet and simple. Give him a peaceful day hiking in the woods with his dog, and he’s a happy man. He has no use for large crowds, noisy cities or dramatic women. So when a hotshot reporter rolls into town, dragging her big-time problems with her, he should have run for the hills. Instead, he volunteered to keep her safe. Bringing her into his world won’t be easy, but if he can convince her that Montana isn’t as terrifying as she believes, they might just be the perfect match.
Johnaka's Review:
“Opposites attract, 5 stars”
When I read Perry’s The Lucky Heart and got a small glimpse at Sabrina I knew I wanted more of her. I wanted her story, because if you’ve read The Lucky Heart you just know her story would be one that would suck you in. Then I saw Perry was writing The Outpost and I just knew her story was coming.
Sabrina is gutsy. She single handedly took down a crime family and has lived to tell the tale, but she’s on the run. When she shows up at her best friends place in Montana she had no idea how much her life would change. Sabrina in this story truly transforms before our eyes. She discovers she wasn’t as happy as she always believed she was. She didn’t take herself to be one for the outdoors but finds solace in the open meadow in the mountains.
When Beau first sees Sabrina, he knows underneath all the cuts, bruises, and what not that she’s gorgeous. When he spends time with her at the Outpost his feelings for her change. He was always impressed by her and what she accomplished but soon starts to learn about the woman behind the pen and paper. He falls in love with Sabrina as she’s changing and only wants what’s best for her.
In the end will Sabrina get her life back or will she always have to hide? Will Beau get the woman of his dreams and be able to keep her? This is a story about how in a way life’s a gamble and sometimes you just have to roll the dice and cross your fingers. I love how they got to know each other on a personal level before a physical. And above all else they wanted the other person to be happy even if that would make them miserable.
Fall into The Outpost, you won’t regret it. Besides who doesn’t love a story with suspense and love?
