“Friends to lovers, 3 stars”
Label Me Proud is a friends to lovers story all told in the guy’s perspective. I really enjoyed reading a whole story from a man’s view. Even though these two have known each other since they were little they still had to figure out how to take their relationship from basically a couple to a full fledge one. The story proves that no matter how well you know someone you won’t always know what they are thinking.
There were a couple things in the story that kind of killed it for me even though they cleared up. I found Lee to be extremely dense at times. The problem was clear as day to everyone around them yet he never saw it. Masyn was a tomboy which I completely loved but she was also very insecure. Even though she had known Lee for how many years and had already basically been playing house she didn’t want to give him the benefit of the doubt and let her insecurities slip one too many times for my taste.
Was the story good? Yes, I love stories like theirs because I know how it works in a small town. But it’s getting three stars for the character flaws that I despise.
Stephie Walls is a lover of words—the more poetic the better. She lives on the outskirts of Greenville, South Carolina in her own veritable zoo with two dogs, three cats, the Mister, and Magoo (in no preferential order).
She would live on coffee, books, and Charlie Hunnam if it were possible, but since it’s not, add in some Chinese food or sushi and she’s one happy girl.
