Our Review:
Interesting premise. Hacked Hearts was a decent story. The idea behind the story was great, but it didn’t quite hit its mark for me personally. I did like the characters and overall story. There was heat, mystery, and a few twists and turns.
The plot of this story was interesting. I really liked the idea of a girl in hiding from a past she can’t seem to run away from enough. Add in the playboy reporter who just might be the key in helping her escape for good and it was the recipe for a great novel. Unfortunately for me personally, I felt like the story could have been developed a little better.
The characters in this book were good. Mia is a strong character. She got a raw deal when it came to life. Instead of giving up, she adapted. That is a good trait in a character. Diego was hard to like at first. It wasn’t really his playboy ways, but his personality didn’t click with me. He slowly grew on me, but I did feel like his development happened a little faster than I would have liked.
There is plenty of heat in this book. These two characters have an undeniable attraction to each other. The heated scenes in this book were good. I wouldn’t have changed anything about them. They were just what I normally like.
The writing style of this book was good. The pace was faster than I liked, but it was easy to read. I understood everything that was going on. I also didn’t see some of the twists that happened. It was an enjoyable read.
Overall, I liked this book, but it was not a five star read for me. While I enjoyed the characters and heat, I just felt like the story missed the mark for me to be in love with it. I wouldn’t mind giving this author another shot in the future.

Author Bio (Picture attached):
I am a lover of romance novels that feature strong heroines who know that the loves that may come into their lives are always the icing, and never the cake.
I have loved romance novels since I was a teen, sneaking them into my Bible studies at my all-girls Catholic school. I love strong heroines who know that the men that may come into their lives are always the icing, and never the cake.
Thanks to my own marriage, I have learned that the challenges of life can only help to make love stronger and I am grateful to my partner for embodying all the magic that love can offer.
When I am not writing or dreaming up new love stories, I am working in a retirement community outside of Boston that provides me with enough writing material for ten lifetimes.

Excerpt:
Scrubbing a hand over my jaw, I rack my brain for my best opening line, but my eyes keep drifting to her photo. It’s incredibly and intensely attractive to me—and my dick, if the eager strain against my pants is any inclination. Excitement bubbling within me, I open up a new chat window and quickly type out a message.
User3242: Hey baby, I can’t stop staring at your picture. Can’t help but ask if there’s a chance I’ll be able to see more tonight?
I lean back in my chair and cross my arms over my chest. Three small dots appear on the bottom of the chat screen, and my heart rate increases.
MissMia: We’ll see. I’ll need something from you first. I arch my brow and nod. Not a flat-out no.
User3242: Anything you want, baby. You name the time and the place.

MissMia: I think we’ll stick to here and now. I need your help with a...project of mine.
User3242: Mmm, sounds kinky. I like it.
MissMia: Ew, no. Gross. Get your mind out of the gutter.
Get your mind out of the gutter? She knows she’s on a hook- up site, right? Is she roleplaying? Playing hard to get?
User3242: The minute I saw your picture, my mind went straight to the gutter and all the terrible, dirty, wonderful things I would do to you.
