Pulling out the barstool beside her, I sit down, wanting to be on her eye level. It takes me bumping my knees into hers for her to look at me, but at least she finally does. “Hey! Remember it’s me you’re talking to. We’ve been sharing a house for most of the last year. That’s pretty much as close as anyone has ever been to me, not that I would do this for just anyone. You’re a very sweet, kind, caring, and talented person. You need to get it in your pretty head that you don’t owe me a thing. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.”

 

My words don’t exactly trigger the response I intended as I watch the pink tinge travel up Monica’s neck and cheeks before she covers her face with her hands. “Oh gosh. Stop it already. I can't remember the last time I blushed. How embarrassing.”

 

Flabbergasted.

 

I’m absolutely stunned she’s reacting this way.

 

It’s also interesting she can still surprise me after we’ve known each other all this time.

Amber is the best at what she does. She has always taken pride in what she does. But when she got burned by those who never should have burned her, she’s out for revenge. Now the blow back from that revenge is on her tail. Amber has too much to lose at this point and she must end the threat before they find her. What she never expected was the help of a man. A man who makes her want something she never even thought about before. The question is will she let Jesse in?

Covert Vengeance is only my second Cross story and when I finished I couldn’t help but think why haven’t I read more books by her? I love her story telling and the way she pulled me into a world most people don’t even think about. One thing is for sure I cannot wait to see where Cross takes this series and who’s story comes next. You won’t regret one-clicking Covert Vengeance.

Just the fact that someone may be reading my ‘bio’ thrills me. What does one say in an author bio? Well, I LOVE to write! Sometimes characters talk to me in my head (in a non-psychotic way) and I have to get what they are saying out on paper! So, here we are!  ☺

I am a part-time juvenile probation officer and full-time wife…but I spend the majority of the time helping my two favorite, college-aged sons navigate through life and hopefully become the best humans they can be. 

I am a huge fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, the Oregon Ducks and the Chicago Cubs! (I have a dog named Wrigley)

I’m terribly addicted to music—ALLLLL kinds and driving in the car with the sunroof open and radio turned up helps the creative juices flow. 

I am deliciously addicted to queso and cupcakes; but even with that…I like to slowly kill my body with Crossfit. I’m annoyingly sarcastic. 

People ask me ‘what has been your favorite book to write’—I would have to say my original series. (I think it sold 100 copies)  ☺   Someday…I may have to tweak them a bit because my heart was poured into those books—but they need help!  Slick was my Amazon best seller…but every one of them mean something to me. 

In the end, I truly believe life is taken way too seriously by most…I say enjoy every moment, have an adult beverage and READ!! Cheers….

Louise's Review

 

Convicted is a standalone story that is told from several POV’s that I lost count at 4; this story gives you raw emotion heartbreak and the purist of loves and I knew all of this by the end of chapter 7.

Joss is your ultimate bad boy; he has a record and doesn’t hesitate when someone he loves is put in the line of danger which leads him to an 18-month sentence on a farm. When he is pulled into the web that is the owner daughter Ren he can’t stay away; his protective side coming out in full force. 

When lines are crossed and incorrect information is given Joss is taken away from the world he has fallen in love with. Fighting for what he wants he is left with some questions that he needs answers to ASAP; hoping that they will lead to the HEA he deserves.

Pelton is a new to me author and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story; I could not put it down devouring it in 1 sitting. I look forward to more from this author and hopefully Joss’s brothers in the future.

“unexpected love, 4 stars”

Alice is the serious type. She plans ahead. The only thing she hasn’t worked into her plan yet is a man. But that’s out of her control. Yes, there are times she wishes she could wing it and be spontaneous but that’s not her. But meeting Jackson? That was something she never saw coming? Starting up a fling definitely wasn’t on her radar. Sometimes though, life throws you an unexpected twist.

Jackson is only in town long enough to check on his Grandfather and think about what’s next. As a photojournalist his life is always on the move. He never stays one place long. Alice though has him wondering what it would be like to stay in one place. The question is, is he the settle down time or will his itchy feet get the best of him?

These two were straight up opposites attract and I liked it. They helped balance each other perfectly. It was fun watching Alice finally get her HEA and catch up with the rest of Sweetbrair Cove. I think if you take a chance on Two Hearts you won’t be disappointed.

“Love and recovery, 5 stars”

They say not to fall in love during your first year of recovery but Viktor never even considered it as a possibility. For him its all recovery and hockey. He has to prove the fans and his bosses that he’s worth it. What he never counted on was his boss’s sister Zoe. Some how she finds her way into his life and he doesn’t want her to leave. The question is will she put his recovery at risk?

Zoe is all work all the time. She loves her job, really she does. But when the women around her start dropping like flies to the love bug she can’t help but what a little bit of it herself. There is no denying her attraction to Viktor and the more time she spends with him the more she wants him. She never meant to fall in love with him but you know what they say, expect the unexpected.

So far This is Wild is my favorite book in the This Is series by Madison. I loved how she wrote both Viktor and Zoe. I couldn’t help but cheer for these friends to lovers. Then you have the rest of the crew which some of us are already familiar with and it was hard not to swoon. One thing is for sure I cannot wait to see what Madison does next.

This is Wild is book 2 in the This is series I couldn’t wait to get my hands-on Viktor and Zoe. 

Viktor had been given a 2nd chance, one that a lot of people didn’t think he deserved. Making it his mission to prove everyone wrong he aligned himself with the right people and started making amends. Zoe had 1 rule and that was not to date Hockey players, she had learnt her lesson and she wasn’t going to be made a fool of; when their worlds collide, there is no stopping their scorching chemistry. 

They say you should never fall love the first 12 months of recovery, yet here they are. 

I personally love This is Wild, I couldn’t put it down. Viktor and Zoe were amazing characters and it was also nice to catch up with the family.  I can’t wait to read Vivienne and Marks story in This is Love; Vivienne has been an amazing minor character throughout.

“Fate is a beautiful thing, 5 stars”

Paxton only came to town to please his mother, but in six months he’s gone. Or so he thought. What he never expected was meeting Nicole right off the bat. To him she’s just Cole and to her he’s just Pax. They fall hopelessly and desperately in love. The only question is will it last.

Cole is a believer in fate. And she feels like fate keeps pushing Pax and her together. Pax makes her feel things she’s never felt before and it soon becomes apparent he’s her person. Then enters the misunderstanding and things get a little crazy. Will Pax and Cole be able to pick up the pieces and stay together or will they walk away from each other? Only one way to find out.

I adored Pax and Cole’s story. They just clicked. As Fate Would Have It played out in my mind like a movie. I saw it all clearly happening and I wanted to know what was to come. I loved the secondary characters as much as the main two. Lagasse killed it with Nicole and Paxton and I cannot wait to see what she does next with this series. In other words, As Fate Would Have It is definitely one-click worthy.
