OUR REVIEW
EEEEK. That was the sound I made when I realized we were getting to read about Sawyer. Soulmate is the fourth book in the Rascals series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, all of these characters are present in all stories so I feel you really miss out on getting to know the characters if you do not read them all. Especially since there have been tons of hints about the last novel. This book has all the heat and romance from all the others, but is also unique with it’s plot.
Soulmate is Sawyer’s story. I was so excited to read his story. He has been viewed as a bit of a playboy in the past, but I also feel like he is a big chunk of glue that holds the others together. I really feel like he is the sensible one that can give good advice, but also provide comic relief when needed. Getting to see him in the hot seat was very interesting. Especially when we find out that his love interest is a blast from the past for him.
Gabi is an amazing character. She is so relatable. I loved how she has the past with Sawyer and how she discusses and thinks about it. It gives us insight into who she was back then and who she has become. Let me tell you, I love the feisty vixen she has become. I love how she grew up and now has self value. She is willing to do what she needs to in order to give herself the life she wants. Then you have Sawyer. Oh Sawyer. He made me want to bash his head in at times. He is what I expect from a male, but it was okay. I liked that he stuck to his guns and had a vulnerable side.
The heat between these two was a long time coming. Gabi has always been attracted to Sawyer. She has always harbored unrequited feelings. Seeing him again, just amplified the feelings she thought she buried. The true shocker is when Sawyer sees Gabi. He values her friendship, but he cannot deny the chemistry between them. This chemistry is what leads to the heat between them, which is beyond amazing.
The writing style of this book is much like the rest. I liked the plot. The pace of the story is steady. I really enjoyed the characters. What I loved most, was getting to see how the other characters are doing. I really think this story really helped set up the next story. I cannot wait for that one.
Overall, this was an amazing story. I have really enjoyed all the stories in this series and I cannot wait to see what comes next. The set up over the last four books for Hayley and Dante has been amazing. I am so beyond invested in them and they haven’t even had their story yet. I feel like it will be heartbreaking and hot all at the same time.

Soulmate is the 4th book in the Rascals series, each book in the series can be read as a standalone but each story gives you more pieces of puzzle that is the men of Rascals.

Sawyer and Gabi met in College, the only female friend for the king of one-night stands; she hid her feelings for years deciding that leaving Chicago was the only way to get over him. Now that she is back with her dream job one interaction is all it took to find out she is definitely not over Sawyer; and then an idea to make him see her begins. Sawyer cannot believe it, after standing him up after graduation his best friend is back, it is like no time has passed they fall back into their rhythm except everything has changed, Gabi is this new confident woman who is determined to change their friendship.

I really enjoyed these 2 characters, Gabi needs medal for putting up with Sawyer’s lack of emotional capabilities. Gabi and Sawyer have an easy friendship, they have history they know a lot about each other, their chemistry has been building from the moment they laid eyes on each other again and when they finally kiss, it is beyond anything that they have ever experienced leaving Sawyer in a panic about how he is feeling.

I personally loved this book and I might have wanted to hit Sawyer over the head a few times to make him see how amazing Gabi was. McCoy has given us a fantastic addition to the Rascal’s series and I cannot wait to meet Dante the quiet brooding man in the next Rascal’s instalment; Troublemaker.
