TITLE - Welcome To Forever
AUTHOR - Annie Rains
Synopsis:
If you love Kristan Higgins, Susan Mallery, or Jill Shalvis, you won’t want to miss the Hero’s Welcome military romance series! Welcome to Forever introduces a small coastal town where America’s best and brightest risk everything for love.
In Seaside, North Carolina, there are two kinds of people: Marines, and kids of Marines. Then there’s Kat Chandler. Recently hired as the principal of Seaside Elementary, Kat makes it her mission to turn the school into a place of peace and calm. That’s not going to be easy with hard-liner parents like Micah Peterson storming in, telling her how to do her job—and then kissing her with those gorgeous lips of his and turning her brain into mush.
As a Marine Sergeant and a single dad, Micah Peterson has just two priorities: doing his job better than anyone else, and getting the absolute best for his son, Ben. But when he meets Ben’s beautiful new principal, a different yearning shifts into focus. He wants her, sure, but he’s also moved by the connection Kat forges with her students. So after learning that she refuses to date Marines, Micah sets two more objectives: convincing Kat to give him a chance . . . and then holding on to her forever.

My Review:
Welcome to Forever is an amazing heartwarming novel. Annie Rains tackles some tougher subjects while also keeping the story light hearted. I really enjoyed this novel and cannot wait to read more from Annie and in this series. I love the premise of this book and the whole series.
The characters in this book are complex and developed nicely. Not only are the main characters, Micah and Kat developed, we get to see Micah’s son Ben develop, along with some other minor characters. I really liked Kat's character. She has a strong independent personality and I love that she stands up for what she believes in. She has a rough past, but this is part of her growth. Micah is a single father trying to do his best to raise his son. He has had a rough past as well and I love seeing how that shaped him. He is also a part of the Marine Corps.
I love the plot of this story. A single father in the Marines trying to do right by his son and a young school principal trying to help teach kids peace and love. This really is a heartwarming story about two people finding a common interest and exploring it. I really loved both of these characters and watching them grow together. This story also made me cry. There were parts that were sad for many different reasons. Some of the tough topics covered are single parenthood, bullying, disabilities, and family life for a marine. I think Annie did an amazing job covering these topics for the most part.
The minor characters in the book added a lot. I loved that the author easily set up at least two more books in the series. It was organically set up as well, which is good because I hate when it feels like characters are being forced together. I cannot wait for these minor characters to step into the spotlight and get their own books. I also feel they added to this book as they were there as a voice of reason and even to add comic relief at times. This is important in any book, but even more important in a book like this one that is tackling tougher situations.
I had a couple issues with this book as well. Sometimes I wasn’t sure if I was reading first person or third person. I was confused at some points at who I was seeing the story though. I also felt there wasn’t enough about the Marine Corps or family life included. With that being said, these were both minor issues for me that I could get past. While at times they were distracting, they did not take away from the book too much.
In conclusion, I really liked this book. There was laughter and tears, but I loved every minute of it. I love authors who are not afraid to include topics in their books that might not be easy to read about. I would recommend this to a friend and I plan to read the rest of the series as they release. I really enjoyed Annie Rains writing and look forward to reading more from her.
