REVIEW - Under The Cherry Blossoms - Amali Rose

TITLE - Under The Cherry Blossoms
AUTHOR - Amali Rose

BLURB:

Skye Emery believes in true love.

A romantic idealist, she believes wholeheartedly that everyone will get their happy ending. Everyone except her, that is.

After drowning in the devastation left behind by a cheating father, keeping men at arm's length and finding solace in a dirty book and a pint of ice cream is a safer option. However, in the aftermath of a night that ends with a cheap wine buzz and the afterglow of a solo orgasm, Skye decides to dip her toes into the world of online dating.

Enter Ben Mackinnon, the sexy reformed manwhore with a complicated past of his own and a killer online presence Skye just can't ignore.

Ben overwhelms her with his perfect mix of sweet sincerity and dirty talking dominance. He pursues Skye with a determination she didn't know she craved and when they stumble upon a childhood memory that connects them, Skye's walls begin to tumble down.

Skye wants to believe that all men aren't carbon copies her father, but when Ben's past resurfaces she's torn between running to protect her heart, or fighting for the only relationship she has ever invested in.

Heather's Review:

Under the Cherry Blossoms by Amali Rose is a story about love, friendships and second chances. This story also could fall under romantic comedy. This is the first book I've read by Amali's and it won't be the last as I was completely consumed.

It was a well-written book with characters that I adored. Skylah's father left her when she was younger and didn't bother looking back. That hurt her and it was hard for Skylah to be with men as she was afraid they would run off too. Her friend, Cassidy tells her she should try online dating so she makes a profile and ends up going on a date with Ben.

Ben takes her out on a few dates, but on one of them they both remember they knew each other back when they were teenagers.
Ben's past relationships weren't the greatest either. I swooned over Ben! His romance, charm and humour won me over! Not to mention the steamy scenes as well.
I also liked Cassidy and her personality telling it how it is.

Parts of the story I liked:

All the nicknames given to Skylah!

"Oh my god, Cass, what is wrong with you? Batter dip the corn dog? Seriously?"

"You need to take chances though. Risk your heart a little bit. The payoff could be so incredible."

"Let her life inspire you. Live your life in a way that makes her memory shine."
