“Second chances in the middle of a mystery, 5 stars”

Goodness gracious did Jackson knock More of You out of the ballpark! More of You sucked me in instantly and didn’t let me come up for air until the very end. You have two people who are hesitant to give the other another chance with mystery and suspense. I absolutely loved it and never saw the end coming, which for me is huge!

When Faith was a teenager she fell in love with a boy. A boy no one wanted to give the time of day because of the circumstances he was born into. But Faith? She saw his bright future ahead of him and fell hopelessly in love with him despite what everyone said. Then he broke her heart without any real reason. Now he’s back. But things for her have changed. Has she been burned enough to not want to give a man a chance or will those old feelings come racing forward?

Circumstances tore Jace away from the only woman he’s ever loved. When he catches wind of the disaster her life is he can’t help but feel slightly responsible. So, he travels back to that dreadful town full of judgement to help her get through this time. When the threat to her is gone he will pack up and head home. But what happens when those feelings come bubbling back up? Will he be able to walk away from Faith again?

More of You is one of those stories that you just devour and can easily read and re-read again and again and find something new every time.  I loved Faith and Jace. Faith’s daughter was precious and Jace falling in love with her was priceless. The secondary characters were spot on and left the perfect set up to visit the sleepy town again if Jackson chooses to.

I'm a big fan of A.L Jackson; I love the “Bleeding Stars” series! This book was a gritty read about re-finding a childhood love. This is the first book in a new series by Ms. Jackson.

Faith and Jace are reunited after some rough circumstances. Once in love in their youth, can they reconcile the past with the present to make a future? I enjoyed the many twists and turns the plot took us on. This book felt more callous and rough than books I've previously read, and while that struck me as odd and a bit tough to read, it was a part of the character and plot building.

Jace is a great character. Taking a crappy childhood, and doing the best for himself and his “family” and his high school sweetheart. Even when that means means making a very hard decision. He makes a sacrifice for the greater good, then moves on to better himself. And even as he tries to move on, he's holding on the precious past love and helping anonymously when he can. Faith was his high school sweetheart, and doesn't know why they were separated. But she moved on, married, and had a child. But after her husband dies, she has to soldier on, and Jace comes back into her life. Neither is sure where they stand and how to work it out. Communication and honest sharing is hard for them.

Despite their years apart, and the distrust, the past hasn't damped their attraction. Their emotional tension and past make it hard for them to accept their current situation, let alone their current feelings! But history and years of love seem to sneak up on Jace and Faith and overpower the uncertainty. Jace is a large and in charge filthy alpha male! And Faith is unable to keep him at bay, and against all odds, they reconnect and light it up!

This book seemed a bit choppy and rough to me. But in a way, it worked for the gritty crime tone to the novel. It did make it hard for me to get engrossed and lost in the book. There were lots of great details that you could overlook that were subtle and important to the plot, things that gave clues and foreshadowing.

I loved how the characters learned they had to be honest and communicate in order to move forward and keep a good relationship. I adored how Jace is with children and his fierce loyalty to those he loves. Faith was a strong woman, but also let herself ignore a lot of problems. Seriously flawed characters who find their way back to each other and to love. This book may not have been my favorite by Ms. Jackson, but I still enjoyed all the characters and plot, and I'm still very interested in all the characters still in need of a story!
